      @TheWorldsprayer 25 дней назад +3

      @@TheDreamN it was not engineered right. Part of the tailrotor seperated (likely due to a strength issue, those blades are under phenomenal stress) and then hit the mainrotor which caused a complete destruction of the entire system since that is a LOOOOT of kinetic energy there.
      Even worse is that it was nearing failure already before the tailrotor: You can see the mainrotor with an increasing vibration up and down which is BAD. The balancing of those system is incredibly tight and time consuming and had the tail rotor not gone, the main rotor would have very shortly.

    Watching the video, i could see that there's to much wobble on the main blade. Which tell me, the rotor is not properly balance. So even if he could get this thing off the ground, then entire flying machine will end up rolling over the side. The next is, does this Heli has CCPM or Cyclic Collective Pitch Mixing? CCPM Assembly and operation is not easy to do. Even for experience Heli Builders. Now the rotor thrust is made through adjusting of the rotor blade pitch. And in the case of Main rotor blade it has to be synchronized correctly with how fast the rotor is rotating. I build RC Aeromodel Scale aircraft, and the hardest that i find to build is the Heli. The reason for this, is there too many point of failure compared to fix wing aircraft. I have mate who is an experience full size aircraft pilot. And he'll tell you that it requires long flying accreditation if he has to fly and heli. Let alone build one. So yes this fellow purpose is good. But before you embark on a long journey you need to start with small step. And in his case, investing time,effort and some money on building an professional RC Heli is a good start.

      Amen! I am a degreed engineer with over 20 years of experience designing General Aviation aircraft. There is a reason why only a handful of successful rotorcraft companies exist in the world. Rotorcraft are one of the most complex means of flight known to man. And fatally unforgiving of even the slightest mistakes. Even well engineered vehicles require constant expert maintenance or they can quickly become death traps.
      It's one thing to pursue a dream. I get that. I've successfully accomplished that. But it is a shame that someone more knowledgeable was not able to talk this kid out of this pursuit and offer him a job learning his craft at a reputable company before striking out on his own.

      I've built a couple of RC 450 size CCPM heli kits and also flown them for years. The amount of time it took just to have a basic grasp of things was hours and hours of research alone.. Then you have to build, balance, adjust, and slowly but surely test and tweak everything just to get a a good stable hover. Heli's are no joke.. Even with the RC ones there is no room for error and I can't imagine the undertaking of making a manned heli from scratch.

    The only thing that would've prevented this death is not being in that seat. Not a door/seatbelt/helmet. Did people not watch the video? It's not even the rotor that hit him. It's EVERYTHING. It hit the helicopter frame (and him), and the sudden jolt threw his body all sorts of ways that likely just destroyed everything keeping him alive

    I’m no engineer but I know how seriously the aviation industry takes design, manufacturing, and inspections. If rotating mass is uneven, at those kinds of speeds, a little prop can weigh thousands of pounds and any flaw in metallurgy can become catastrophic.

    • @Sennaxm71
      @Sennaxm71 2 года назад +113

      100% correct, it looks like the tail rotor failed and on its destuction, flew out and hit the main rotor, which sadly spun the coptor round, and as a result, the lad got spun out of his seat, just as the main rotor hit the cabin side panel, just as his head was there. Sad that he died, but he could have survived, had he used stronger materials, and a bit of health and safety. R.I.P.

      It would have increased the weight of the heli, making it more difficult to fly(Also, this sort of Design is really common in such ultralight helicopters). In flying machines, every gram of weight counts, though in this case, a helmet would have helped/sufficed
