I was looking at his eyes too. I dont know why he never mentioned anything etc. I cant remember if its mullet or another car or even like Kyle's car but one of the cars I remember the parachutes get effected by air and they actually go towards the car then back out.

The drone gave a pretty good perspective of the length of the shutdown. Looks a good bit shorter than the shutdowns on other major tracks. Maybe something to take note of when cars that are running deep into the 6’s and even into the 5’s are making passes on this track
I was going to say a typical shutdown is double the length of the racetrack and this one only looked like it was maybe a quarter mile shutdown, going 220+ and stopping in a quarter mile is a lot to ask
That hover craft accident in his backyard could have easily killed him too. He came so close to breaking his neck or ripping his leg wide open on something.
You don't know if he changed them or not dude. But I will play devils advocate here though. It was a late chute deployment, just like his test passes in Bradenton. He's a bit rusty it seems. He's usually deploying just past the 1000 foot mark...
2nd chute got stuck on the hitch. What does that have to do with the TBM brakes? If anything, those brakes are what prevented him from going much much further in the sand.

Did that once myself and it scared the crap out of me. It was on a small 1/8th local strip, so I wasn’t going as fast, but it was still scary. I am glad that no one was hurt.
Hey that's one of the hard lessons learned in a really good way that didn't get him hurt thank God. After things like that when you get the car home, and the event is all over an your laying in bed that night next to your wife.....the last thought that goes through your head is " Man they're right you can't put a price on safety, I'll get the guys to look over the car with me tomorrow and we'll go ahead and replace everything and order better stuff to go on the car before the next event "

I was on the last exit of return rd. at Lion's Drag Strip in long beach ca. when Doug Rose went flying by in his jet car , chutes failed , and he buried the nose in sand . Had to be cut out . He lost both feet above ankle . Came back a year or so later . new prothesis' new car and kicked butt 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍♥️

For those wanting to know what happened the second chute hung up on the tow hitch, the car is fine, just a bit of paint off. He does however have a damaged transmission which they replaced overnight.
We lost a great driver and father in Ken block around this time last year, I’m glad nothing happened to Cletus, I couldn’t imagine the same thing happening again this year
This incident had nothing to do with TBM brake failure. TBM's actually helped this from being worse. The chutes got hung up on the receiver hitch.
Those brakes were SMOKING and totally worked perfectly! No damage on the car.
