A common issue when dealing with bed bugs is knowing when the coast is clear. If you can’t see every bed bug in the area, you can’t know when to declare victory. You may have steamed, sprayed, and encased every nook and cranny that you can reach, but you don’t know if it’s enough. Can bed bugs still reach you and your family? Are they still feeding and breeding? If not, how long do bed bugs live without a meal? Let’s talk about what it takes for bed bugs to starve to death.

Thanks for sharing. Bed bugs can also hide in electrical switchplates, picture frames, wallpaper and nearly anywhere inside a home, car, bus, or other shelter. Bed bugs usually come out at night for a blood meal. However, they are opportunistic insects and can take a blood meal during the day, especially in heavily-infested areas.
The life span of bedbugs appears to be between 6 and 12 months. So there is no logic that a bedbug can survive without a meal for 18 months. From my own experience bedbugs can sure survive up to 6 months without a meal and then repopulate again. Unfortunately one of our sublet brought bedbugs to our home. She moved out. We didn't take it serious as we didn't know bed bugs are hard to get rid of. After further investigation realized that bedugs are not easy to get rid off. Eventually we had an infestation after 6 months. I had to use heat to get rid of them.

The mailman dropped off a package meant for us at a neighbors house. This stupid 'mistake' brought a lot of consequences, when my neighbor brought the box over i placed it on top of a dresser and noticed a bug crawling on it, first i thought it was a deer tick, i squished it and it bled it was a bedbug!!!Eeww!!Im holding usps responsible if my house gets infested because as i inspected the box it had other dead bedbugs on the cardboard crevices as well and who knows if another live one happened to fall on my floor, stupid mailman

All this is very interesting but we just want to know one thing: how to get rid of bed bugs definitively and at the lowest cost ? if we buy a monitor is it enough to get rid of all them at 100 % on a short period ( a month or less not a year and a half )?

My niece has been getting bitten for about 2 weeks now and we just learned its bed bugs through research. We're calling around for exterminator estimates and using spay and a steamer in the meantime. We don't know how we got them. We're attached to a house on one side and partially to another on the other side. None of use talk to each other except to say hello sometimes so neither has mentioned anything. Since we know should we be the ones that bring it up? But I don't want to be blamed for this and possibly sued....I'm poor! How should be go about this?

About how long they live. People are right till they are wrong. From exp. Dont count on a bug caring about your calendar I personally believe could be 2 years these are not human they are a specialized parasite. So sure they die in 6 months do you feel better now. No wonder they are winning humans want answers like we deserve them. You make me laugh at least sleep tight
