    I used to live in a shared house in London, renting a room. After months and months of suffering, paranoia, itch, distress, doctors misdiagnosing me, my Flatmate mentioned he had “a lot of little insects” in his room and that their bites were “harmless”. We have a different skin pigmentation, I’m much fairer and every bite caused a mild allergic reaction, severe itch, sometimes secondary infection and an awful lot of pain. We tried getting professional help 3 different times, professional pest control, including not being able to sleep in the room for 3 days after their work due to the potential harm pesticides would cause. NOTHING WORKED. I ended up moving out, throwing away most of my clothes and belongings, and washing everything I had at 90 degrees, or ironing every single item. That’s how I saved myself. 12 years later, I’m getting bitten again at night, and praying to God they are not bedbugs, as I really fear for my mental health more than my physical health.

    Fill freezer bags (for food storage), sandwich or 1 pint US size,with very hot water.Leave them in the area where you have already received bites.Make sure to darken the room , to simulate the nocturnal environment , during which they would emerge from hiding to feed.

    There are a lot of ways to get rid of bed bugs. One fellow said he was smarter than the bed bugs. He knew they came out to bite him after midnight, so he set his alarm clock to wake up at half hour intervals, when he would grab his flashlight and go hunting every night, smashing all the ones he could find with his bare hands. He said in four months there were no more bed bugs! So funny! I would say his "hands on" approach is the cheapest way to kill bed bugs.
    I think he did this for the fun of it. He wanted to see if he could win the fight against the little blood sucking vampires without the aid of pesticides or tools, a contest between man and beast.

      @@mikhaelishtar1693 Another strange way that worked: A family of hoarders had way too much clutter to hunt and kill their vampires, so they sprinkled food grade diatomaceous earth between their bed sheets and rolled around in it before dozing off each night.
      They reported they were bite free in two weeks, and there were no adverse health problems, so they must have been careful not to inhale the dust, and it didn't harm their skin.
      DO NOT APPLY THE TOXIC CHEMICAL PESTICIDES ON CLOTHES WORN AGAINST YOUR SKIN, OR BEDDING. NEVER RUB THEM DIRECTLY ON YOUR SKIN.

    • @toddmalone4384
      @toddmalone4384 Месяц назад +2

      Bed bugs can only live for 3-6 months without food, they live longer when/were it is cooler, but not longer than about 6 months. So covering a mattress with a fully sealed plastic cover for a year is enough to kill them. There is plenty of oxygen inside the bag/mattress that they won't suffocate during that year - but they will die of starvation.

    More HELPFUL ADVICE:
    ✤ Encapsule the box spring to remove hiding places.
    ✤ Grout crevices, also to remove hiding place. And reduce likelihood of spread.
    ✤ Search for bedbugs with an LED flashlight that has a flood beam (broad beam). They usually don't like to travel far.
    ✤ When you drive bedbugs from their hiding place use a liquid spray cleaner in your free hand to hit the moving bedbugs, once they stop, collect in a tissue and dispose in the toilet.
    ✤ If not using the spray bottle, rest the powerful LED flashlight directly over a bedbug - blinding it. This allows for time to get the spray cleaner or pesticide.
    ✤ ⛔matress covers/encapsulatement don't suffocate bedbugs in 3 days⛔ Encapsulation kills bedbugs by keeping them from a food source - you !!! Leave the case on for over a year.
    ✤ If you are using pesticide not directly on bugs, say as blind hunting - spray the perimeter first and work inward. This helps prevent spread, or chasing the bugs around.

Im thinking it hitch a ride from a dirty bum that was trying to cluck items to me today. Ive never had bed bugs and not trying to get a infestation. Later today i will start washing everything and buy this slat which has a 100 kill ratio on bed bugs and spread to others when they touch it. I will also notify my friend about that bum which comes along. Dude doesn’t care about himself smelling like piss and shit and probably has all the STD’s in the book. A barricade of thinly applied food grade Diatomaceous earth around the perimeter of your apartment, in all the places where bed bugs can enter into your home through the walls, baseboards, ceiling lights, electric wiring, plumbing connections, windows, doors etc. can help to kill bed bugs that walk across the powder.
      Do not make thick piles of it. A little goes a long ways, and the bed bugs will walk on a light application. Avoid inhaling the dust. Leave it in place. As long as it stays dry, it will kill bed bugs for years.
      If bed bugs infest your apartment, thin applications of food grade Diatomaceous earth, used strategically in the right places can get rid of them. It's very safe, but it's a dust, and you don't want to inhale it. Also very inexpensive and easy to use.

      If the whole empty building was treated, bed bugs would return with the people. Someone would bring them back into the building. Bed bugs travel through the walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, halls, elevators, electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning connections.
      A barricade of thinly applied food grade Diatomaceous earth around your unit can help to kill bed bugs migrating from your infested neighbors into your home.
      Do not allow guests who have bed bugs into your home, or visit in infested apartments.
      If you already have bed bugs, and haven't been able to get rid of them, you can take GARLIC, so the bed bugs will avoid you, leave your apartment to find someone else to bite. ruclips.net/video/fHFfBtJL_3U/видео.html
      Garlic repels bed bugs. Don't take garlic if you want to kill bed bugs by using yourself as bait to lure the bed bugs to walk across D.E. powder. After you kill them in your home, then you might want to try the garlic to keep them away.

    You are their food source and without you they die so here is a cheap solution.(This only works if you have a bed frame with legs on it.
    Wash your sheets and spray your mattress and bed with Raid really, really well. Go buy as many plastic food containers as the legs the bed has.
    Place a plastic container under each leg and fill it to maybe a quarter with white vinegar, make sure your bed isn’t against the wall or that your sheets don’t touch the floor, making the bed bugs have to access your bed only by climbing on the legs, they’ll drown in the vinegar you have placed. Done! Trust me, it works.

    I have never had them in my 49 years until last week. My row of townhouses have had them instead of spraying all of them they choose not too and didn't tell us tenants. I noticed at night my fingers or feet seemed to get itchy AF and I thought maybe my dog had fleas but we didn't see any and I bathed him, he has a flea collar and has had his shot. Once night I happened to go to bed late and had a white pillow case on and noticed a few moving well let's say I didn't sleep in my bed and the next day I cleaned my room, used spray and put traps out. But taking apart my bed is not easy and would be alot of work for me. But last night felt that itching again and found a few again was able to get them and did it all over, washed everything, spray and this time I used a steamer too I'm hoping this will help and if not then I'm going to call in pest control.

I have a queen size bed, so I'll need a queen size cover to get all the sheets into a bag. I would think that there would be more than 3 days of air in a queen size bag for bedbugs to breathe .

      @@eric_langat correct. But in the video he also said the bed bugs die from lack of air or oxygen. It is not lack of oxygen that will kill bed bugs sealed in an encasement, but lack of food.
      Also, to add to clarity encasement is best used to prevent bed bugs from finding hidding places to set up "nests" and secondarily to keep bed sets clean from bed bug fecal stains.

    • @rgmeadows7712
      @rgmeadows7712 8 месяцев назад +4

      You're correct the bugs inside the bag will not die in just 4 days - the video is wrong on that. Also, the bugs don't die from lack of air. I've read that they can live as long as 18 months without feeding, so you'd need to keep the special bed bug mattress cover on for 18 months but if the cover gets ripped they will come out and be very hungry! The nymphs will die in a shorter time, but the more meals a bug has had the longer they can live without a meal!
      Take the sheets and mattress pad if you have one off first and 20 minutes in a hot dryer will kill all bugs on the bedding. I just purchased a queen size "bed bug mattress protector" from a big box home improvement store for $25 and also ones for the pillows for $10 each. Be careful not to accidently puncture or tear the cover when putting it on. These special covers are sealed with a zipper and will keep any bugs that are hidden in the mattress/pillow away from coming out and getting you at night. Or if you have just run your pillow through the dryer or your mattress is not infected yet, the special covers will keep any bugs from hiding in your pillow or seams/folds/crevices of your mattress.
      The covers will not get rid of the bugs but it is one tool and you will need to use other means as well to ericaite them. My relative had professional treatment but after a couple weeks started getting bit again - you need to follow up because eggs hatch, bugs are hidden or deep in the wall or couch cushions where the spray or steam doesn't reach, and some bugs have developed resistance to the sprays so the residual spray that is supposed to kill the remaining bugs for a few months after the pro has sprayed doesn't kill 100% of them. I think a multiprong approach is needed for complete elimination. Look into diatomaceous earth as one good tool - they can't develop resistance to it, It lasts forever unless you vacuum it up or it gets wet, and is not toxic/poisonous. I learned about it on V's Life but other RUclipss discuss as well. Also, I'm looking into traps that use CO2 to attract - homemade or purchased. Best wishes for your eradication.

    Getting bed bugs really really screwed with my mental health! I had to get rid of everything I had. I was so bitten it put me in a position to feel violated depressed disgusted etc. I was so paranoid that they would get me in my new home. But they didnt I did everything correctly to make sure they didn't come with me but I was still super paranoid deservedly so after what I had just went through it is a really traumatic experience ! You cannot keep a single item only your clothes and if you don't follow my directions you'll be bringing your clothes to your new residence and starting another infestation. II went to the doctor when I saw welts. Laying on my couch one night I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye it was a bed bug attracted by are breath that is what attracts it to us! The Dr twice he gave me prednisone tablets he didn't know what they were! hey forgot to mention this they live in the pockets, folds & creases of your close in your bedroom. Take all of your clothes put them in a very large black construction type 30 40 50 gallon size garbage bags. Put them outside in the garage somewhere where there is heat. I let my clothes stay in that bag for 2 weeks OUTSIDE &I bought new clothes.. After 2 weeks I emptied the bags & you should have seen the huge DEAD bed bugs I went through each item of clothing before I put them in the bags myself and saw nothing but I thought just to be safe I'll do this. You can't be too careful when it comes to bed bugs! Well I'm glad I did! The huge dark strong garbage bags keeps the heat & the bed bugs will die make sure it's closed so they don't escape! So no doubt I live in the South so it was perfect! As far as the heat that I needed to kill them they may not have that in the north.. if that's the case and you're in cold weather and you have no way I would just throw all of my close out because then you'll have to get rid of everything you own again and it'll be a lot more costly than just your clothes My son brought bed bugs to my apartment years ago thank God it's not the home I live in now. I was able to throw every single thing I had out.

      Freezing temperatures can kill bed bugs. You can leave your items in an unheated storage shed or garage. It takes about 3 days or minus 10 degrees C whiteout warming up. You can put delicate items in the freezer, it will kill them too. If they are in your car, it is the same, cold will kill them. There was an infested apartment building and they did renovations, they didn't heat the building in winter and the problem was solved.

      Right. But regular checking helps to reduce the infestation.

      @@theguardianschoicenot alway. Some people has very strong reactions to bedbug. Kill the first one and the infestation never starts. Miss at the first bit / hunt at the second & kill and maybe 3 weeks later kill a juvenile hatch.

    Unlike lice, is it easy to crush bed bugs. They are very fragile.

      Bug bombs can spread the bed bugs all over the house to make the infestation worse. Watch the RUclips video, "What NOT to do if you have bed bugs."ruclips.net/video/m_cQQeg6dIc/видео.html

    Do plant based insecticides work?

    • @theguardianschoice
      @theguardianschoice  10 месяцев назад +3

      Yes, but not all. Pyrethrins are botanical insecticides derived from chrysanthemum flowers. Pyrethroids are synthetic chemical insecticides that act like pyrethrins. Both compounds are lethal to bed bugs and can flush bed bugs out of their hiding places and kill them.

    The only pesticide that really works is Crossfire.

      Used by the pro exterminators that are in the know, use Crossfire, bed bugs have become immune to many, many other pesticides.
