  • FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER: @JWhiteBBTV - In this episode Jeff will explain the areas on a bed you should inspect if you want to inspect your bed for bed bugs. As information spreads about bed bug infestations on the rise, more and more people want to inspect their bed for bed bugs. This episode will walk you through a bed inspection and the critical areas you should look if you want to inspect your bed for bed bugs. Please be aware that a visual inspection can be unreliable when trying to detect low level infestations of bed bugs. Therefore, if you perform an inspection and don't find any bed bugs, it does not necessarily mean you don't have bed bugs in your home. A knowledgeable professional should always be contacted if you think you may have bed bugs.

Also, if you think you have bedbugs, something that is pretty simple, yet effective, is that you can take a role of clear, packaging duck tape, and outline the bottom of your box springs and mattress (with sticky side on the outside), and if when those little bastards come sneaking out during the night to get their free blood meal, their legs will get stuck on the tape, and be trapped. Use push pins to secure the tape. I tried this on my sisters apartment, and after the 2nd night, we found like 10 bedbugs that got stuck on the tape....just a thought...

Use bags of lavender seeds in between sheets and in pillows. All smells of lavender scent deter bed bugs from mating. Like lavender, Vick Rub deter bugs too. Put some Vick Rub on paper tissues and crumple up the papers and place them in bed.
Buy yourself dustmite-proof covers for your mattresses.
In mornings, open windows and expose your sheet to cool air by pulling back blankets or quilt. Use fresh Vick Rub on tissues, and lavender seeds and lavender oil.

I’ve never encounter this bug in my life until recently. My father rented out one of our bedroom to his friend’s worker. That worker left after few months and my brother moved in, that’s where all the nightmares start.
At first, he found out both of his leg were full of red rashes and were like bitten by some sort of insect but he didn’t know what has bitten him.
Until one of the night when he is laying still on the bed, he feel something is “crawling” on his leg and he managed to caught one of the bed bug.
The next day, he check his room and found out there are lots of bugs were sticking at the back of his mattress. And finally we got to know these bugs are so called bed bugs.
He throws away his mattress and bed frame. He changed to a foldable plastic bed frame and bought a new mattress. Although he changed the sleeping bed, but he was still got bitten at night. That nasty bugs somehow found their ways and has spread to my room! 😭😭😭
I was bitten at night and got allergy reaction until my wounded area are all swollen. Since then, I’ve kept my lights on whenever I’m sleeping and I was so stressed out because I don’t really had enough rest.
Unable to get pest control service because of the pandemic lockdown. I’ve googled and read a lot of bed bugs articles online. Try numerous method like spraying essential oil, spreading DE powder, put insect sticky traps under my bed, spray bed bugs repellent on my bed, wardrobe, drawer, wall. The bed bugs reduced but still I got bitten at night.
After reading a lot of information in internet. I’ve decided I should bought a high temperature/pressure steam + vacuum machine to treat the bed bugs. I started to steam + vacuum my whole room and my bed. Double steam all of my clothes, wrapped my bed frame with few layer of plastic film, soak all my mattress cover in hot boiled water to kill all the potential bed bugs egg.
The whole process took me more than a month. Every night, I will steam + vacuum my whole bed and floor an hour before I get on my bed.
And I’m glad I’m finally bed bug free.
Just need to be very thorough when doing all the cleaning and it take times.

I took all my sheets and everything off, shook everything off that I can't wash right away so I can sleep without worse anxiety... I examined every single item on my bed, including seams on the mattress (which is disgusting by the way, covered in stains and food, I hate this place but I'm stuck here until the end of the semester), and found no other bed bugs. Maintenance is going to come do something in a few days. I did find a hole in the cover of the mattress though, and I put tape over it lol to relieve my anxiety overnight. Maybe they live INSIDE the mattress??? I really don't know. I am now paranoid and am leaving bad reviews everywhere I can on where I am staying.

I have bites on my arms, hands and fingers that itch since the beginning of summertime. I thought they were misquote bites. But no one I knew had them as bad as me. One of the first things my fiancé and I did was check our bed for bed bugs. And we didn’t see anything. So i posted a photo of my arm with the bites on a Ulcerative Colitis group I’m a part of since I have that disease. Some guy told me they look like bed bug bites because his girlfriend had the same thing. I went to our bed again to get ready for bed and sure enough there was 8 tiny bugs crawling on top of our sheet. So I killed them by smashing them and once they were dead we took the sheet off our bed and looked all over and no bed bugs anywhere on the mattress or box spring. I’m sleeping on an air mattress and my fiancé is sleeping on the couch for now. I read online you can buy a mattress protectors for bed bugs that you’re supposed to leave on for 1 year and it will help kill any bed bugs you currently have and prevent any new ones. It cost $20-$30 depending on the size of your mattress. We are getting that the next time we go to Walmart.

    Bed Bug Removal
I started to notice some bites in January of this year but new nothing about killing bed bugs. To prepare I watched video after video showing the different methods of removing them. I could not afford a professional service so I did this.
I waited until we had a forecast high of 115F or 45C. I did this so the bugs could not go deep into the walls and survive. With the outside temperature hot enough to kill them on its own, I blasted the heat and fans inside. I held between 122 and 126 for almost 8 hours in my trailer using the excessive temperature to kill. I used heat from three 1500 watt baseboard heaters. Then instead of renting big fans at about $40.00 per day I bought a 20 inch or 50 cm box fan from Canadian Tire for the same price to add to the 5 household fans I already own. If your area is larger buy more fans. I had plans to buy three box fans but they were sold out because of our heat wave. For me this was OK because I have a floor standing air conditioner and used the fan to compensate. With a combination of laundering and heat drying all fabrics, including all bedding and clothes, then heating my place up to a sufficient temperature, I am now bug free.
People remember heat treatments work best at the hottest part of the year when bugs can not find holes in the vapor barrier and crawl near the outer wall to stay safe, because the outside temperatures are too hot for that option. In winter heat will not work for this reason, but during hot days it is pretty much a sure kill, if you have enough heat and fans. Hope this helps some of you as well as it did me. My total cost for laundry, fans and power, was about $190.00 and I now own all the fans. The heaters I already owned. If you need to buy them this of course this will up costs. To give you an idea my trailer is my holiday trailer and the floor area is 200 sq. ft. Scale your equipment up as needed.
If it happens again I am now prepared in full .

I have them and I caught an adult and that thing moved fast! The only reason I caught it is because I was already holding a piece of packing tape. I caught it as it ran by. It moved in a funny way, too, kind of "ambled" while it ran. But I also caught a tiny baby one that was not moving at all. You should google pictures and compare it to the pictures. They can look different and be different sizes depending on their stage. The most helpful picture I found showed them at a variety of stages.

I wonder if bed bugs get spread to hotels more because of people staying in them when they have bed bugs. I can see that it's tempting to go stay in a hotel if you think you have them, but I think it's really inconsiderate because you could have them on your clothes or belongings and just take them to a hotel and then spread it to tons of people. I got an air mattress and moved to the living room and haven't gotten bitten out there.

I found out a woman 2 floors up was infested and it didn't help that I lived next to the laundry room (they could fall out of someones laundry basket and creep into my place). I brought anything made of fabric to the laundrymat and put everything in the dry on high, steamed the shit out of all the furniture, vacuumed everyday (took the vacuum outside to change the bags) and bought a new mattress set and encased them with bed-bug covers. Haven't seen once since (except for one carcass).

Don’t start sleeping in another room, you’ll only attract them to you and infest that area too! They can ‘home in’ from 30m away in one night! They don’t spread disease, thank God, so stick with it and tackle them where you find them. That’s the science, so I’ve heard.

I see bedbugs in my metal bedframe ALL THE TIME. Sometimes that's the only place they hide. Its very secure and private for them, and its rough lifting your whole bed out of it.

update, if anyone cares or would find it useful: i used a steamer meant for clothes and steamed out each spot i found an infestation. then vaccuumed up the bodies. sprayed windex on the area for good measure to make sure the bugs+eggs were dead. havent seen any for 2 days but i will keep an eye out.
i also put my beddings in the dryer first on a hot cycle for 20 mins to make sure that if any were hiding in the sheets, theyre dead.

Bedbugs usually visit you 5 times in their life cycles-they get bigger and darker as they age, but they are quite small and light when they first bite. By the way they are one of the few insects that feed their young.

it's tough for one person to comment about another persons reactions, everybody reacts differently and reactions aren't a good way to determine if you have a problem or not, I would recommend seeing a dermatologist because the reaction only lasting 15-20 minutes isn't consistent with most other descriptions I've received

I have the same bed and box spring in this video.... I have bed bugs & idk if I've ever seen one. I've seen carpet beetles, fleas, spiders, silverfish, and maybe mites. Anyways, all I saw were black spots and red spots. There were tons under the box spring. But the worst place..... were my 3 curtains hanging next to my bed. It looked so bad with all the spots.
Encasing the mattress, box spring, and pillow in cheap $9 vinyl cases helps a lot. Make sure to duct tape the zipper line. GL! It's war!

I have been getting bit at night for about a month and I looked at my bed but my eyesight isn’t that good and I thought I was having allergic reactions to my meds so I had the doctor look and she just said to take Benedryll which didn’t help then I had a idea to get a strong flashlight and inspect my mattress . Those things were all over my bed and I didn’t even know . Now I start the long process of cleaning and getting a new bed . I checked my couch also and the blanket on it had a big bed bug so I watched this video and I am not in good health at all so my daughter is helping me but I am 58 and never seen a bed bug . They are terrible and I would not wish those things on anyone . The video helped me a lot so I will let my daughter check my new mattress 2 times a week because I am allergic to those things . Disgusting creatures .

  • @BedBugCentralTV

110 degrees will push the bugs off of the mattress, meaning they will try to escape, therefore if you get the mattress off of the ground that temperature will probably flush bugs off of the mattress but it will not kill any eggs that may be on it

-ATENTION- I just got free of it on 6 diffrent rooms. The secret that was missing after extermination and throw all the forniture to the garbage... was to put an eléctric extension with three entries and isolate all the eléctric terminals with silicon, before that the treatments were not resulting they were protected inside the wall on the NET electrical cables 👍 they can survive up to 1 year without feeding, so remember to check that silicone sometimes. This process saved my business.

The pco said he found nothing but spiders. He sprayed for the spiders. I know he looked and found nothing but I am still freaked out. I check my bed daily and just order a moniter. I would like to take his word for it but I can't.

He doesn't talk about look or size of the bugs but this is still a helpful video. In fact, from all the other videos I've watched, other than not speculating on their appearances, this has been the most organized, step by step. Others tend to focus Only on how ugly the little bastards are so there's plenty of those. Thanks for the info.

I have bed bugs and the only reason the pest control confirmed it is because I caught some under clear packing tape. I live in an apartment, so I don't get to choose the pest control company. Of the two guys sent out here, both tried to find them just by looking and neither could. I guess the bed bug inspection dog they have is just for show, to attract business. If I hadn't caught them, I bet they would have told me I didn't have them, even though I got lots of bites, some in a row.

The bed bugs that I find on my mattress look more like tiny centipedes which makes me think that they're carpet beetles. And I never get bug bites. I'm never itchy or anything nor do I find any bite marks.
So my question is do carpet beetles behave in the same manner? i.e shell casings, reproduction.

if you have a box spring it's a preferred location for them to hide, if you don't have a box spring they will find somewhere else to hide, whether you have a box spring or not will not affect whether or not they infest your home...it only affects where they are hiding

I’ve been dealing with these guys for too long. They infested my room four years ago, and we threw out tons of stuff: my clothes, desks, couch, the vacuum, etc. We chainsawed my wooden bed frame, threw it out, and replaced it with a new metal bed frame. We called in an expert two years later to inspect the room and clean everything, as well as replace the carpet with a new one. Even with all of that, I woke up yesterday with several red welts, and I came back home this afternoon and found a nymph on my mattress. I’m going to explode.

The nice thing about bed bugs is they don't carry diseases like mosquitoes. In some countries like Canada people die from mosquito bites. according to the net 26 people have died from West Nile caused but mosquito bites. But bed bugs don't carry diseases like mosquitoes. In the US since 1999 2,000 people died from West Nile caused by mosquito bites. Also if you've been bitten by a mosquito and a bedbug like I have you will know that the mosquito bite is far worse in the bed bug bite.
