Fuck yes. It'd have been great to see flashbacks or some kind of montage to show what this Batman had been through in terms of villains, wars, etc. 20 years is a long time I'm sure he fought people like Freeze, Clayface, Hush, etc
I will forever cry of what we were robbed of. I'll be one day in my 90s or early 100s and I'll be staring out through the window on the hospital wing of the Mars base with a single teardrop and people will ask, and I will them the story of the Batman.
Or Jason Todd. If this is taken as being a combination of Doomsday and Dark Knight Returns, then Todd would of already died and, potentially, come back as Red Hood.
Well if he was anything like the Dark Knight Harvey Dent/Two-Face, I wouldn't blame him if that was the case. Unfortunately the experience has left Bruce hollow on the idea anyone can be good forever, especially with one with as much power as Superman.
@@shahidshaikh7438 No one is guilty until they did something guilty. I mean it is not a sin for Superman to be born with his super power, just like other hero. Batman is also a monster to be feared if he goes astray too (we saw it with Owlman, Batman counterpart in other dimension where he is evil). I agree that preparation is needed in case metahuman is brainwashed or turn bad themselves but killing them off just because they may be a threat is too paranoid.
Did anyone notice that his voice changed to Batman at one point. This movie did a good job of showing how he became too much like the bat, and was slowing losing his human essence. This wasn't a Batman that just started his journey. This is a Batman who's been fighting crime for a very long time and has seen the worst of the worst and it slowly changed him over time. It took the innocence and sacrifice of Superman to bring Bruce back into the light.
It's a really interesting inversion of Dark Knight Returns. In that story, Superman was cynnical, jaded, killed tons of people, and needed Bruce's sacrifice to save his soul. In BvS, it's the opposite.
Petrus Friyadi I think he meant to say this batman using dent quote which showing how this batman abandon the code of not killing and became something he dont wish to be at the beginning
Yeah in the Arkham series and even the Nolan trilogy he and Batman both wanted to team up and bring crime down with Batman taking care of the punching while Harvey took care of the political side. But sadly the mob got to him first and turned friend into foe 😭😔
Casanova Frankenstein nah, DC is making a Nightwing film. Dick is alivie, Jason is the one who died. Snyder wanted Dick to be the Dead Robin but DC didn't allow it.
1:02 Here Bruce Wayne didn't even need a voice changer, his alter ego Batman took over him when he got angry(I might be geeking out way too much but I wanted to say this). Bruce wayne close ups in this clips are literally giving me 100% Batman comic panel vibes. Zack made a fantastic choice by casting Ben as Batman. My love for BvS will never end.
Haha I just noticed that. Ben Affleck is the best Bruce Wayne ever and he's best at portraying Batman and his fight scenes. Shame we never got the standalone 😢😢😢😢
I don't know why people had a problem with his 1% chance statement, are they not aware of what Batman did in the comics? He literally had a contingency plan to take down the entire Justice League(main members) because he knew there was a possibility that they could one day turn against humanity. This mentality is right up his alley.
While I don’t disagree with you, there is a big difference between Batman merely having a contingency plan in the event a superhero goes rogue and Batman proactively behaving under the assumption that a superhero WILL turn rogue.
True but I think its the whole "and we have to destroy him part" that rubs peope the wrong way. Having contingency plans to kill someone if they cross the line is a little different than being 100% about to kill someone regardless of whether or not they already have because they might. One is being prepared for a worst case senario, the other is actively courting that worst case senario. It makes Batman come across as someone who just wants an excuse to kill and a lot of people take issue with that. Regardless of how you feel about Batman killing in the first place ( personally i don't really care that much ) this kind of rash behavior doesn't feel like the Batman people know.
It’s not wanting to off Superman. It’s because he sounds like a scared, whiny little bitch about to piss his pants. Batman is supposed to be calculating and brilliant but he would not be able to do half the shit he has done in the comics if he was a scaredy little baby like he is here.
Analysis: 0:30 - "it's a weapon". While everyone see's Kryptonite as Clark's weakness, Bruce looks at it as a weapon. The hunter's mindset: Instantly weaponizing an opponent's weakness. 0:32 - the RED SCREEN in Bruce's background depicts RAGE. As Bruce starts to expalin the Kryptonite, the schematics of the batmobile disappear on the screen, showing that Bruce is transitioning from a Raged + Technical mindset (as he was repairing/modifying the batmobile), to a purely RAGE fueled mindset, when alfred asked him what's in the ship. 0:53 - the background shows Alfred's mindset. The dark background behind him signifies how he knows that Bruce's future is dark, because he's going to war with a literal God. The 2 small lights at the lower right end of the screen are two little rays of hope, 2 arguments Alfred makes hoping to chamge Bruce's mind at 0:52 and 1:27. 1:03 - Bruce's voice transitioning to the Bat's voice. Showing that Bruce's rage is boiling to an extent that it's spilling. and Bruce is turning into the Bat, even without the mask. He's losing the rational, human side and is transitioning to a rage fueled monster. 1:08 - Bruce tries to Justify why he wants to kill Clark by pointing towards the people who died because of Clarks and Zod's fight. While in reality Bruce is scared. He wants to kill superman before superman kills him/humans. just like a rattle snake bites as a preemptive strike. 1:16 - Bruce explains Existential Risk. A Statistical cconcept, where the risk of something existing far outweighs the benifit. Superman existence posed an extinction level threat to the humans. While he's existence showcased trivial benifits. 1:32 - he's done believing people. He knows promises don't mean anything. This Bruce is extremely cynical, worn down, tired and black pilled. 1:37 - people are dead. And he believes he has fallen (as mentioned in the epilouge/starting of the movie) and that he isn't a good guy anymore. Plus Robin is dead. 1:41 - people change. Just like harvey. he knows that people can be easily corrupted. The joker is right for most people.
Spot on my man, this scene right here shows exactly why Ben Affleck is perfect as Batman. This takes place way after his prime, he's always been a deranged man (let alone he dresses as a bat), but after all he's been through in this universe, he's gotten even more out of control. I will always look at ZS and Ben's version as the definitive Batman, I loved him as Batman before the movie came out, and I always will.
How did the Razzies think his performance was bad enough to nominate him for "Worst Actor"? Then again, if you nominated Stanley Kubrick for "Worst Director" on The Shining, you kind of invalidate yourself on general principle.
@@sambridgers9543 Razzies have nothing to do with somebody being a bad actor... but playing a bad part in a movie. Just to name a few celebrated actors that have won or have been nominated for a Razzie through the years: Michael Cain, Anthony Hopkins, Richard Harris, Richard Gere, Al Pacino, Sean Penn, Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio... and many more good actors... haven't even looked at the list of actresses. That's the fun thing about the Razzies... it's actually a major tongue in cheek award given to people mostly expected more from.

I wish good director like someone who did Wonder Woman will direct Batman standalone movie. If it turned out like suicide squad it will be a total waste of actors potential.
I really love how when Bruce says "That son of a bitch brought the war to us two years ago," the "war to us" goes so low it sounds like he's using his voice changer. I don't know if that was intentional, but if it is, it was a nice touch. It shows that it isn't Bruce Wayne talking, it's Batman, the enraged vigilante inside.
Alex Kim that was intentional, it was actually Afflecks idea. He also came up with Bruce's hair, and Wardrobe. He said Bruce should be so extravagant in luxurious tailored suits that no one would ever think a dandy like him would be Batman. He brought a lot to the role.
Alex Kim that's exactly what i think that's why i really like that line ever since i first heard it in the trailer even now i actually came to hear it 😂💔
Will always be, this movie ages like fine wine. It gets better with every viewing and it gets better the older it gets. It's such a shame we will never get Ben Affleck in a solo Batman movie. That would have been my dream.
Haters are gonna jump in the replies and spew some top notch idiocy. They're coming with their vitriol. Hippolyta: Snyderverse fans show them your fear Snyderverse fans: We have no fear!
When Bruce said "That Son of A bitch brought the war to us." He sounded alot similar to the way he sounded when he used the voice changer. It was almost like the sound guys were telling us the moment he goes from the Bruce Persona to the Batman Persona. Like he just turned into Batman for a brief moment.
He does that a couple of other times during the movie as well, like at the beginning when the Wayne Enterprises building is being destroyed and the way he yells "JACK" almost makes him sound like Batman instead of Bruce Wayne.
@Casanova Frankenstein I don't think it's leashed. Alfred has proven to be tougher than Batman. If anything any time he uses that voice it's more or less him talking to Alfred as an equal rather than someone to intimidate.
@Casanova Frankenstein Did I stutter? Alfred is tougher than Batman. Batman respects and fears him more than he fears any crook or supervillain. Anytime he uses that voice and delves into that persona, it's showing that he can be honest and open and treats him like an equal rather than someone beneath him.
I was disappointed when it was first announced. But obviously was proven wrong! Daredevil was so bad, it almost ruined his career. The role of Batman revived his career.
I feel that Ben Affleck made a great Bruce Wayne. Granted, they ruined him in Justice League, but in this film, he portrayed this particular Bruce Wayne damn well.
This is the first time someone truly amazes me with a Bruce Wayne performance. In all Batman movies we had incredible acting from villains to secondary roles but never with Batman himself. Affleck nailed it in this scene, you can see the age, the rage, the experience, it is the Batman right in front of our eyes. A shame he will not have his own film, would’ve been gorgeous
He played a PERFECT post-Jason Todd Batman. One who is beginning to drown in his own darkness as his anger and paranoia take over and grow. The invasion definitely didn't help his mindset.
not gonna lie, i was thinking the same thing, he is better suited for a batman movie rather than a superman movie, although i thoroughly enjoyed man of steel
Watching this scene again, I think a tear leaked from my eye. You can clearly see how damaged Bruce Wayne had become after 20 years. He's not even thinking clearly due to the fact that he just wanted to steal the kyrptonite for himself so he could take the matter of killing Superman into his own hands. I cannot wait to see what happened to him during those twenty years. Fingers crossed for a Batman prequel.
Pretty sure the Ben Affleck Batman solo film is gonna take place after Justice League, but yes I believe they should make a prequel!! Sorta like a X-Men: First Class when they get a younger actor to play batman. If possible
Actually it's been confirmed they're gonna have two actors playing Batman in the solo film, with Affleck playing the older one and someone else playing the younger. Three if you count kid Bruce.
Affleck plays a veteran Batman so well. One who’s been on the job for a long and time and has seen the worst of the worst. He’s slowly losing his grip on humanity and completely being taken over by paranoia. Believing that if there was even a 1% chance for someone like Superman to be their enemy then they have to be prepared. That intensity, that expression, that tone. He plays a great Batman that seems like he’s been through a lot
If DC is still interested in making the occasional Elseworlds movie, I think Affleck would actually be a good fit for a full on live action adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, He's actually right around the proper age for it even
@Bubsie His suit during the Superman fight is enough evidence. Honestly though, I'll be happy if he's shown as a little more powerful and not getting his as kicked way too much due to OLD AGE.
“20 years in gotham alfred, we’ve seen what promises are worth” i wouldn’t call it paranoia in the slightest, in fact, he’s doing exactly what he needs to. justice league has gone rogue more than once before, the only one who’s been able to stop them consistently is batman with his contingencies
Great scene. The whole "Martha" scene/moment is when Bruce Wayne realizes what he has become. He doesn't realize how far he has fallen here. Ironically a helpless son begging for his mother to not die and Bruce being the reason for it, is what brings him back to being The Batman he started out as. Bruce originally became Batman because he was helpless and couldn't save his mother.
@@wbradley15 if only they had this understanding back then, but even WB was responsible for panning it... Zack Synder did a great job with his casting...
"That son of a bitch brought the war to us" I can't help but to notice how his voice actually changed from bruce wayne to batman during those words... Truly amazing how it captures the anger/bitterness of the character who's reminiscing the Metropolis carnage...
Jesus WB , count the loss . Millions of dollars . What's next , Billions ?? The Snyderverse has the power to wipe out the entire Hamadaverse . Even if there is is one percent chance snyderverse can be achieved , we have to take it as an absolute certainty.
1:31 "20 years in Gotham, Alfred" "How many good guys are left?" "How many STAYED that way?" Who else thinks he's legit talking about Harvey Dent from NolanVerse?
@@brendanmackos7780 Could also be referring, indirectly, to himself. How he was once a good guy, but after losing Rachel, Robin, possiblly even Selina, he's lost too much, and unlike every other Batman story, this time, he does cross the line. He's looked into the abyss for way too long now
Why does it have to be Harvey dent from the Nolan verse? Every version of Harvey dent was originally a good guy trying to clean up Gotham. It’s just a reference to two face in general.
Words are weapons. Dayum I felt all of his rage through me. Like how talented is Ben ? He acts so accurate and complete like Bruce Wayne. Nothing ever gonna come to this accuracy to match Ben performance as Bruce Wayne / batman.
The unwavering charisma and the intensity of which Ben Affleck approached this role, in a film which isn't an out and out batman flick, establishes the fact why he is definitely the best batman ever casted.
Thematically analyzing this movie is amazing. There is always something new to find, especially when looking at this as Bruce's rebirth arc. Not a Superman story. But there is a huge foreshadowing moment when Bruce mentions the "20 years in Gotham Alfred, we've seen what promises are worth" line that doesn't hit me until the actual Batman vs Superman fight sequence. Bruce/ Batman is tired of trusting in people, and believing in others who only let him down. He knows people change, and he knows that a promise is worth bat shit anymore. Until he realizes the monster he's become and makes a promise himself to Superman - that Martha wouldn't die that night. People clown on this movie for being edgy, but it is grounded in realism and symbolism which I incredibly adore and admire. At first, i thought this movie was garbage... but I've grown to love it after watching the Ultimate Edition twice and sharing empathy for this broken and battered Bruce. Powerful scene.
From a visual storytelling point of view this is an interesting piece I just caught; Even though Bruce's speech sounds somewhat rational the screens behind him are deep red, informing his emotional state.
It's truly a master piece. I remember the bad reviews before it was released publically, but once I saw it in theaters...I was in awe at the fact that so many people disliked this deep and complex movie.
exactly even i didn't like it at the first time but than i watched the ultimate edition after that I've watched this movie literally 4times but i still don't why supes said his mother's name i know that it hit bruce because their mothers shared the same name but why supe said save Martha instead of save my mother
After thinking about it, this is my explanation: Superman said "save Martha" on purpose because he knows Batman Is Bruce Wayne and therefore he knows that Bruce Wayne's mother is Martha Wayne. "Save Martha!" not only mean save Superman's mother but also mean "Save your humanity, Bruce !"
imo he said it because its his "earthling mother", if he said 'save my mom' it would refer back to his home planet Krypton, so by saying that name; Bats would think that its an "earthling name" rather than another alien which brings Bats to wonder - 'Why did you say that name!'
20 years in Gotham😮😲 we all know batfleck has fought a lot of villains like joker, penguin, riddler, two face, bane,Ra’s al ghul etc in this time period. I got goosebumps after hearing that line from Ben affleck’s Bruce Wayne/Batman
I'm thinking, with the "How many good guys are left- how many STAYED that way?" line, maybe Under the Red Hood already happened. There are a number of 'promises' that have been broken in Batman lore- Harvey Dent the district attorney became Two-Face, for example; the promising boffin Edward Norton/Nygma became The Riddler; not to mention Bruce may still be sore over Dick Grayson leaving him to become Nightwing- but Batman's always held Jason Todd as his greatest failure, even after he came back from the dead.
hodomani Now THAT I have to disagree with. As questionable as Leto's Joker is, I don't but the "not the real Joker" theory- especially since they already pulled the same schtick with Lex Luthor.
I definitely agree. This is a Batman who has already seen Jason Todd get killed, Harvey Dent turn into Two-Face, had his back broken by Bane, held dying lovers, etc.
Bruce makes 100% sense. Superman is unstoppable. He can kill everyone if he so desired. We the viewer have the benefit of knowing that Superman is a paragon of virtue, but acting on his incomplete information Bruce did nothing wrong.
But… Luthor was manipulating Bruce the whole time. Lex smirked when the Kryptonite was stolen, because he knew Batman would do his dirty work and kill Superman. The Ultimate Edition was way better than the theatrical release, because you can see how Lex’s plan took years in the making.
@@HaydenLau. Lots of people made fun of the “why did you say that name (Martha)” part, but that’s when Batman realized he was being manipulated by Luthor. Yes, Superman’s fight with Zod caused the deaths of thousands, but if he didn’t destroy the World Engine, ALL human life would’ve been lost. Superman was the only person who could’ve stopped the process. If Batman killed Superman, there wouldn’t be a human race. So, not irrelevant…
This scene to me cemented Ben Affleck as the most comic book accurate version of Bruce Wayne, the way the intensity in his voice rises when he talks about there being a 1 % chance that Superman is their enemy is just sheer badass which is saying to me that this guy isn't taking any chances with a super powered alien. I love the way his voice soon calms when he talks about how much promises are worth, the how many good guys are left? line I thought was an awesome hint about Harvey Dent becoming Two Face which shows you just how much faith Bruce has lost in idealistic men. Awesome back and forth dialogue between both of these guys and mega props to Jermey Iron's peformance as Alfred who also really owned this scene. I can't wait to see more from these two in future DCEU movies.
I had my doubts about Affleck as Batman/Bruce, but this was the scene that totally sold me on him. Now he's my favorite Batman actor by a large margin. He's actually phenomenal in this scene. He perfectly portrays the anger and paranoia with facial expressions and vocal inflections. The dialogue in this scene is also great. "How many good guys are left? How many stayed that way?" Just a masterpiece of a scene.
Minus the killing, yes. But even with the killing, this is a Batman that is 20 years into his career, Jason was murdered, Gotham is no better truly than when he started, super beings he could never deal with if they so chose to be evil have started appearing, and so Batman has finally reached his tipping point and is almost full punisher
@@youngknowledgeseeker "There's a new kind of mean of him, he's angry, and he's hunting" - Dick Wayne is dead (Confirmed by Snyder not Jason) - 20+ Years as Batman and Gotham has gotten worse - Joker still causing anarchy - Harvey Dent has already became 2 Face - Alien with the power to destroy the whole planet and his mere presence has been creating chaos and death - Death and destruction of metropolis where his workers are and that poor little that lost her parents like Bruce did And more that I probably forgot Idk about you but I'm pretty every human would break after experiencing all these events

Thats the most intense Bruce Wayne dialog ever written. Look at that man. He's out for war. He will do whatever to win. THIS is the most dangerous version of Batman on screen. Warehouse scene is a testament to this legendary Batman.
1:02 Man Does Batfleck have some great lines in this. Ben Affleck I feel is the only actor who truly lets Batman bleed through his persona as Bruce Wayne. The only time Bruce truly puts on the mask is when he’s Bruce Wayne. And it’s a very hard thing to do to switch from Batman to Bruce in a manner of seconds.
Affleck really added his own contribution to the canon of Batman actors. He was the only one who could genuinely portray the deadly seriousness and sense of consequence of a man who spends his entire life dealing with physical violence and crime. For all their physicality in Batman Begins and ominous body language in Batman 1989, neither Bale nor Keaton could match this.
at 0:59 when Alfred lean forward to Bruce, that little smirk just before he said that, a small detail that makes what great actor is great, and also the line, body language, expression, and intonation is all perfect

Definitely watch the Ultimate Edition. From What I've read and heard about, the Ultimate Edition is the version Zack Snyder wanted to be released in theaters but WB wanted to maximize the number of screenings they could have per day and had 30 minutes cut from the movie in order to make that happen. Thus so many things ranging from minor distractions to huge plot points were cut from the version everyone saw in the theaters. So definitely if you are given the option, see the Ultimate Edition. I like the movie and I can admit it has its problems, but overall the real version of the movie we were meant to see is very good.
0:59 This line is so much better due to Irons' expression, facial nuances and how he puts emphasis on certain words to show his disbelief, fear and disappointment over how far Bruce is falling.
love that last bit: "how many good guys left, how many stayed that way", Batman kinda broke after Robin's death, that explained why so ruthless and brutal in this movie

0:59. The smile that says it all. The disbelief in Alfred’s smile as he realises Bruce has not only decided to be the villain, but embraced becoming it
I revisited this movie again recently because I never hated it like everyone else did. I despise Man of Steel more than anything, but I always saw greatness within BvS, much of it from Affleck's portrayal. Here's a snippet of my review I wrote after seeing it again: And let's talk about Affleck. Let's talk about the best onscreen Batman and Bruce Wayne we have gotten. Yes I think he is. Striding through with the weight of decades of violence on his shoulders, and all the compulsive hate it brings in his eyes. Affleck wears these heavy emotions in his movements, like he weighs 20 pounds of inner demons too much. He isn't running around like a madman for most of this. But calmly lurking in his frames. He carries those defeats in his facial cues, which are so ingrained here I think he immortalized the role.
Probably the most interesting scene in the movie. Bruce is an intellectual, and like every intellectual in history has proven - the use of rational logic can sometimes be a dangerous thing. Bruce is completely rational and logical in this scene - thrown all romantic thinking out of the window cause the stakes are way too high - his logic makes sense like all logic always does: Gotham is a higly corrupt place where a lot of power in 1 person can not be trusted, Superman is so powerfull he CAN wipe out the human race if he wants to. If there is a 1 percent change you MUST take it as the absolute certainty. Bruce is right, afcourse we as an audience know Superman is a good guy, in their universe they don't know, and thousands died. They're dead, they're not coming back. We don't care, we just saw CGI people go boom. If a comet was shooting to eath and there was a 1/100 chance of it hitting us and destroying the earth we would panic and do something about it. Nobody would go 'what? 1 in 100? I like those odds, It's probably gonna pass, don't worry about it, just trust me on this.' The use of logic vs faith in the good of a person is a huge part of their conflict. Rational vs Romanticism. Batman had a reason to be scared, we saw what happened to the world if Clark loses Lois. It's a very interesting construct that get's resolved in the most 'eugh' lazy way possible. "MARTHA?!"
Fucking nailed it. Most people see this as vanilla paranoia and irrationality as if its uncharacteristic of Batman, when it is in fact very much in line with his aspirations to nip a problem in the bud.
Well if you think about it all this construct logic vs faith is resolved in the most right way possible. The fact that Clark worries about his mother and not about his life brings more light in the heart of Bruce. A light that is fully restored by the final sacrifice. So that he abandons his violent methods (in fact he doesn't brand Lex) and find his path again. Why does he decide to put together the JL? Because Superman restored his faith in humanity.
The Gamin' Dutchmann Not really. The "Martha" scene was very ppwerful and it was great. I remember when I was watching the movie and Superman said "You have to save Martha", I was like "wtf?? How could he knew Batman's mom's name? How could Batman save his mom if she's already dead? What did he mean by that? Martha? How would Martha be saved now?". All those questions were rapid firing in my head and then Batman started reacting "WHY DID U SAY THAT NAME?". He was confused as to what his nother had to do wih any of what was happening that present moment. But at the same time, he was raging and clearly out of control and really about to lose his fucking mind. Thats when Lois came in and explained that its Superman's mom's name. And you could then see that look of "Holy shit, wtf am i doing here?" look on Batman's face. That's when he truly realized that he was losing his fucking mind to the rage and the feeling of impotence that overwhelmed him when Superman showed up in the world. He realized then and there that he had become emotionally compromised and therefore his reasoning had to have been flawed due to his emotional instability. If you know anything about Batman is that he's a very emotionally strong dude, and very analytical and logical. Mastery over his emotions was what he sought after in the League of Assassins. Ra's Al Ghul thought him how to overcome his fears and use them against his foes. Instead of losing his shit at the sight of bats, he welcomed and embraced them. He embraced the darkness from whence they came,, he embraced the bats and made them his weapon. And all that was nearly thrown away in that moment with Superman. That was the little boy Bruce Wayne in Batman who was raging and screaming. He realized that and that's what calmed him down. He realized that his most trusted friend and advisor Alfred was right all along but he was too blinded by his emotions to see it. There is so much depth to that scene man.
I love how there’s a glimmer of hope in Alfred’s eyes and mannerism when he says “To keep it out of Luthor’s hand, to destroy it” indicating to Alfred that finally Bruce is going to do something that truly matters and helps people and not go into some suicidal crusade
Fantastic how the background starts with red but is laced with diagrams and schematics - but these slowly fade and left with just a red screen - reflects bruce first analysing but then a shift to complete rage - fantastic directing
Man! This fucking conversation right here is what Batman is about. How much protective he is about humanity, Iron man would kneel and bow him with respect. And I like this Alfred. He doesnt give a shit about Bruce Wyane's attitude. When he knows Wyane lied to him about the White Portugese he downright demands an answer.

This scene explained why Batman kills in this movie
Haha I just noticed that. Ben Affleck is the best Bruce Wayne ever and he's best at portraying Batman and his fight scenes. Shame we never got the standalone 😢😢😢😢
Great catch!
I don't know why people had a problem with his 1% chance statement, are they not aware of what Batman did in the comics? He literally had a contingency plan to take down the entire Justice League(main members) because he knew there was a possibility that they could one day turn against humanity. This mentality is right up his alley.
He even had a contingency for himself and that was the League itself.
While I don’t disagree with you, there is a big difference between Batman merely having a contingency plan in the event a superhero goes rogue and Batman proactively behaving under the assumption that a superhero WILL turn rogue.
Shaw Fujikawa which is why he can be changed by Superman as this statement is right
True but I think its the whole "and we have to destroy him part" that rubs peope the wrong way.
Analysis:
0:30 - "it's a weapon".

From a visual storytelling point of view this is an interesting piece I just caught;
Even though Bruce's speech sounds somewhat rational the screens behind him are deep red, informing his emotional state.
0:59, oooh that smirk. It's like Alfred way of saying : "I've dealt with more than enough shit from you, but THIS?". Jeremy Irons is the MAN.

I just think Jason Todd become the new Joker
hodomani Now THAT I have to disagree with. As questionable as Leto's Joker is, I don't but the "not the real Joker" theory- especially since they already pulled the same schtick with Lex Luthor.
I say that because a recent rumors says that the joker and black mask will be the vilains of the batman movie. Anyway wait and see ;)
+hodomani black mask in a movie awesome I would love to see that :D
I definitely agree. This is a Batman who has already seen Jason Todd get killed, Harvey Dent turn into Two-Face, had his back broken by Bane, held dying lovers, etc.
Every single scene with these two was amazing. Made the whole movie for me. Excellent acting, great dialogue.
Bruce makes 100% sense. Superman is unstoppable. He can kill everyone if he so desired. We the viewer have the benefit of knowing that Superman is a paragon of virtue, but acting on his incomplete information Bruce did nothing wrong.

Looking back, this is the most accurate depiction of Bruce Wayne ever in films.
@Sean Emzeey exactly! Why dont these people understand it

@@FardeenRiyadh16 I kinda said all that, but still nice detailed analysis. It’s just a lot to take in first move is all. Especially when all of these are side details you have to pick up on yourself. Especially when this was sort of the dc universe debut. So we all thought it was gonna start ground up like marvel building the characters from day one and getting to know and love them and then see them change (like cap vs Ironman was worked into over years and so the impact was felt better and it didn’t feel random).
But yeah Snyderverse was awesome and I wish it was able to continue and also be unhindered from studio tampering 😢
@@youngknowledgeseeker was just summarising them again to explain why this one kills and I actually like the return of Batman killing since you can nowadays getaway with CB characters killing
Agreed!
Ben Affleck really nailed the role of Bruce Wayne. Notice how the bat voice comes out slightly in this dialogue.
1:16 goosebumps everytime
at 0:59 when Alfred lean forward to Bruce, that little smirk just before he said that, a small detail that makes what great actor is great, and also the line, body language, expression, and intonation is all perfect
Imagine if Alfred said: "You either die the hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" as Bruce walks away
This movie is gold!

Alfred always challenges Bruce mentally, he’s always plays the “devil’s advocate” to make Bruce think harder about what he’s doing, I always love that about their relationship.
physically, ben Affleck is the best Batman ever.

From this man into "Faith Alfred, faith!!"
We REALLY should've gotten a solo movie with these two.
The theater version is trash, the Ultimate Edition is pure gold. Prove me wrong!

the movie is great, you should(but the ultimate edition)
The cinematic edition was a big mess, the ultimate edition is the movie you need to see, a lot of things make more sense
just watch the Ultimate edition... IMO it's the best CBM ever made to date.
Have fun :)
Don't touch the theatrical. I've watched both, and it's safe to say the only cut that exists for me is the Ultimate Cut.

I revisited this movie again recently because I never hated it like everyone else did. I despise Man of Steel more than anything, but I always saw greatness within BvS, much of it from Affleck's portrayal. Here's a snippet of my review I wrote after seeing it again:
And let's talk about Affleck.
"How many good guys are left. How many stayed that way?" Jason Todd anyone?
Indeed. Two Face anyone? 😊
i think Jason is still dead
Javier Lopez Could be Red Hood at this point.
I thought he was referring to two face or selina kyle.
If we believe there's even a 1% chance that she wants the D we have to take it as an absolute certainty!
1:32 hits me hard everytime
That's not hard. You're just a 😺ussy.
1 in 100? I like those odds, It's probably gonna pass, don't worry about it, just trust me on this.'
The use of logic vs faith in the good of a person is a huge part of their conflict.
The Gamin' Dutchmann Watch the movie again and again until you finally get the gravity of that scene. It's really deep, so it takes time. Atb.
The Gamin' Dutchmann that's why i love batman
I love how there’s a glimmer of hope in Alfred’s eyes and mannerism when he says “To keep it out of Luthor’s hand, to destroy it” indicating to Alfred that finally Bruce is going to do something that truly matters and helps people and not go into some suicidal crusade
I've watched this countless time and I'm still amazed how this scene went
Fantastic how the background starts with red but is laced with diagrams and schematics - but these slowly fade and left with just a red screen - reflects bruce first analysing but then a shift to complete rage - fantastic directing
Man! This fucking conversation right here is what Batman is about. How much protective he is about humanity, Iron man would kneel and bow him with respect.
And I like this Alfred. He doesnt give a shit about Bruce Wyane's attitude. When he knows Wyane lied to him about the White Portugese he downright demands an answer.
This scene in particular convinced me that Ben Affleck was the best Batman. He embodied the paranoia, distrust, and rage of the character so well!
" how many good guys are left?how many stayed that way?" harvey dent reference. I don't know but this scene give me chills and creeps at the same time..the way he speaks to alfred says it all. All the terrors of gotham brought by monters who were once the good fellas. Bruce without a doubt knows exactly what's coming.
Well I thought it was a red hood reference
That music at 0:57 .. So dark n suits Batman.
The thing I love about Zack's DCEU is that he gives us so much Easter eggs in each and every line/scene for comic book fans. God tier commitment from him 👑
This is why I don't mind Batman killing in this version because he is clearly psychotic and lost. It fits this version of the character.
