Superman usually gets a solid soundtrack. He's a nice guy. Thought that second player in the demo was Captain Marvel for a sec. The yellow enemies look like they're in chicken suits.
Not long after, Atari would have "Batman the Movie" video game. One thing I would have loved is a "World's Finest" game where Superman and Batman deal with the Double Devils of Lex Luthor and the Joker. The "Man of Steel" with the "Dark Knight Detective."
It was originally composed for the 1978 film adaptation starring the late Christopher Reeve, and was later arranged for the second and third films by the late Ken Thorne and arranged for the fourth film by the late Alexander Courage.
I always liked this game, loved the gameplay, the music and sound effects; they have always been in my mind. Never made it too far though, found it too difficult but still it has a special place in my heart.
This was one of my favorite Arcade games back in the late 1980s and I managed to beat it on one quarter. This is how a Superman game is supposed to be. Loved that Superman theme.
In my humble opinion, Taito's 1988 adaptation of Superman is quite possibly the best Superman game in existence. I've played this in some arcades in my youth, but I haven't truely been able to experience the game until the age of emulation.
The only _good_ Superman game. For 1988, the graphics look great and the FM soundtrack is awesome ‐ even John Williams' Superman theme sounds great. But the gameplay is very repetitive and there's a massive jump in difficulty starting in Round 3 (8:30).
Still love this arcade game. But I think they should have just put the REAL Captain Marvel in it as a 2nd player. Either way, fantastic fun arcade game!!!
Faster than a speeding bullet… More powerful than a locomotive… Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound… (Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman!) Superman, rocketed to earth as an infant when the distant planet Krypton exploded, and, who disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for The Daily Planet, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice and the American way!
Yeah, the final level is hard, but then again, arcade games tend to do that on purpose as a way to keep players putting in quarters, therefore, making the arcade that owns the machine more money.
I wish he would do arcade games. It would be a gold mine for him. I think the reason he doesn't do them is that he doesn't use emulators. Unfortunately, this game was absent from Taito Legends because Taito's license for the DC characters had expired by that point.
The grey 2nd player is, according to Wikipedia, just a color scheme for player 2 could tell. Some say he is actually another character. Others say it is just the game. Idea?
"Couch Service" and "Tremor Ferret". Taito never disappointed in the Engrish category. Moving along, I remember seeing this game as a kid at an arcade spot down in Mexico. Popped in one quarter, but got immediately pummeled in Stage 1, so that was that. 😆
They had this cabinet at a convenience store that my mom worked at when I was a kid in the late eighties, and I would play this all the time back in the day. It sounded amazing on a real arcade cabinet! I've seen several people in the comments saying that this is the best Superman game ever made, and based on the ones I've played and the ones I've seen, I would agree with that. Certainly not the best graphics by today's standards, but they hold up amazingly well for a game released 35 years ago, and the soundtrack is very engaging in cinematic, and really lends a nice vibe to the playing experience.
They're all generic. Even the main bad guy was created from scratch for this game. As a kid I used to pretend the boss vehicles were piloted by Lex Luthor (it does look like a bald dude in the cockpit) and the robot with the rocket fist was Metallo.
Superman looks and sounds fantastic for a 1988 game, and there isn't a single ring to fly through!
Ha!
“Then there’s no time to lose!”

Taito games from back then were all great looking and sounding. This game was a classic in the arcade, coin ops doesn't get much better than this.

This game has a pretty good rendition of John Williams’ Superman theme!

@@danalong1237 Yes.
I spent a small fortune playing this one!!!! ❤
The music is what kept me going back for more. ❤
I just wanna say, I think the biggest reason this is my favorite longplay channel is the reviews you write in the descriptions. I love that so much!
Thank you! 😊
The Player 2 Superman looks like the original Captain Marvel, aka Shazam.
It honestly should have been.
That woulda been great. Cap woulda shot lightning bolts

Up up and away able to leap a tall building in a single bound 😊😊

I never played this game but I have faint memories of watching the older boys play it. This game looks pretty difficult. Time flies.

For those Who said, there's only one soundtrack for the game, ok, the thing is you do not need another track
Superman DOES what Genesis DON'T!!!!
I still say that to this day, this is the best Superman game ever made.
Never got to play this back in the day looks fun 😊😊
It was. There was one at the batting cages I used to go to. My mom would give me four quarters after I took swings.
Still love this arcade game. But I think they should have just put the REAL Captain Marvel in it as a 2nd player. Either way, fantastic fun arcade game!!!

A brawler with only one punch! A shmup with eye lasers! Its superman arcade!
the best game of Superman👍
Ah yes, Superman's signature move the charging yellow fist ball.
Surprised that AVGN never reviewed this masterpiece.
He usually reviews shitty games

By far, the best Superman game in existence.
Thank you for playing this your the best
6:38 A reused background from Darius.
And that level boss is straight out of Gradius
8:49 Superman checking out the sign advertising $4.39 for Vegas hookers. Must be a scene they cut from Superman 3 when he became evil and got drunk 😂😂
Hahaha. God only knows why Danan was there, or why his name now starts with a p
Using the charge punch will produce crystal which restore health, defeat all onscreen enemies, or give you charge punch for a limited time
I remembered this game so much 🎉do they have this on E-shop? 😊

They should bring this on the switch
Man. Come 17:00 or so, shit really starts hitting the fan

Ganble at the Cosino
Cold Meat
I wonder how fantastic this game would sound on a real arcade cabinet.

Mt. Rushmore in Washington DC?
I’m not really a DC guy, who are the random bad guys in this game? Are they just generic or are these actual characters/villains?
They're all generic. Even the main bad guy was created from scratch for this game. As a kid I used to pretend the boss vehicles were piloted by Lex Luthor (it does look like a bald dude in the cockpit) and the robot with the rocket fist was Metallo.
Best game of S.
I wish it was a way i could play this Superman arcade
I didnt know superman could charge his fist and throw fireballs in the comics.
Superman's awesome but unfortunately has very few worthwhile video games.
This one's pretty cool though!
The ONLY great Superman game we will ever get...
What is the deal with the pink rabbit women from the last stage?
1:29 - "I am the best arti...."
OMG _was KANYE here?!"_
Gotta say I hated playing as red Superman but dang the game was fun 😅
This looks like a job for Superman
Superman was a good coin op,but couldn't be a good home console game.
Maybe cause supes is so powerful ...but game looks pretty cookie cutter
..1 hit kills on everything
He is at the beginning, but he gets his ass beat in the later parts. It gets so frustrating in the last couple of stages.
🤍
They could at least use Brainiac.
That’s what Sunsoft’s game is for
I just looked this up. The villain in this game is the same emperor who made Superman fight Muhammad Ali.
@@demgreens doesn’t look like Rat-lar
@@HrvojeGrahovac I have almost beaten it. I love the visuals and music. It is fun as well even though it could have been refined more.
