I remember this. I saw it back when I was a kid, and I thought it was amazing. I still do. It has amazing graphics and gameplay, and really lets you "become" Superman, with all of the power that that entails. The year was 1988 - 3 years before Street Fighter II and Sonic the Hedgehog, and 1 year before TMNT the Arcade Game - and in that world, perhaps only After Burner could stack up. (Maybe others, as I'm not thinking super-deeply here to remember.) At any rate, it was an incredible game that let you have freedoms that basically didn't exist elsewhere. After all of the fun in the arcade, you then buy "Superman" for NES, and are horrified and sickened by what you just bought (or asked your parents to buy for you as a present). Even in 1988, Superman for NES was utter crap.
Looking back at this makes me think to myself, Taito made the first and perhaps the only good Superman game in existence. They did what was normally perceived as impossible. But they succeeded where Titus failed to do; to make a GOOD Superman game. Seriously, what was so difficult about making a good Superman game that Titus couldn't get right?
If you ask me, Superman just has bad luck when it comes to video games. The only good/decent games for Superman that i know besides this one are: The Death and Return of Superman for SNES and GENESIS (Beat 'em Up) Superman: Shadow of Apokolips (PS2, GC) Superman Returns (XBOX 360, PS3) I haven't actually played these games but from the looks of it, they don't look half bad. I think the reason why it's so hard to make a good Superman game is because Superman is so overpowered in *some* cases. I think the game that came the closest was Superman Returns. Instead of Supes having a health bar, Metropolis did and if it took too much damage, game over.

+Idazmi7 Actually, that image of Superman is of him blocking a blast of energy. With the exception of this game, Superman has never possessed the ability to emit energy blasts from his hands; the Eradicator solely has that ability.
I think you're talking about the Super Flare, a power that ONLY the New 52 Superman had, which was emitted from his eyes (basically, a ramped-up blast of heat vision) that temporarily drained all of his energy... that doesn't qualify as a ki blast. Oh, and the Eradicator actually started as a Kryptonian intelligence designed to safeguard & protect all Kryptonian life (including Superman); the reason he is physically identical to Kal-El is because after his death by Doomsday, the Eradicator sensed Kal-El's "passing", went to the site where Kal-El was buried and formed a corporeal body from a part of the stone slab Superman's coffin was on top of, but he didn't gain all of Superman's abilities (such as heat vision or X-ray vision); Superboy (Conner Kent) is the clone. Superman's abilities, for a long while, have consisted of: limited invulnerability, flight, heat/X-ray/telescopic vision, super-hearing & super/freeze breath. I wonder, did you even read "The Death of Superman", "Funeral For a Friend", and/or "Reign of the Supermen"? 'Cause that where my (official, I might add) info came from... My only complaint about this whole video is that he didn't partake in the best part of the game. At 13:30 you can pick up that Ferrari with ONE HAND and toss it at an enemy. This is the only place in the whole game where you get to pick up a car, and he KICKED IT UNTIL IT BLEW UP.
Just once, can we get off the Batman bandwagon and FINALLY give Superman a good game that doesn't suck or where he isn't the villian? The most iconic comic hero in history deserves a good game. Boss battles against Silver Banshee, Toyman, Mongul, Parasite, Bizarro, Atomic Skull, Braniac, Doomsday, General Zod, Lex Luthor and especially Darkseid. Although, a gag fight against Nuclear Man from the fourth film where you merely lure him into a room and turn off the light would be funny, especially if he says "I will HURT people!!" before it.

25:45 no!!!!!!!
@15:10 Uhhhh, Mount Rushmore isn't anywhere NEAR Washington D.C....
This game was at a laundromat near me as a kid! Said place closed up a long time ago. I always wondered where Brainiac was!
Since when is Mt. Rushmore anywhere near Washington DC? lol
Probably around the same time the Capital Building was moved next door to the White House.
Loved this game as a kid probably the best superman game ever made
The ONLY good superman game
So what was this advertisement for starting at 8:45. lol.
Given how strong Superman is, I am not surprised it takes him very few hits to defeat his enemies.
I always thought the boss at the end of every 3rd stage was Lex Luthor chillin in the cockpit of the aircraft
My friends and I used to go to a local sub shop and play this game every other day. Can't see it without thinking of that place.
love the superman theme
