    Based on the original Tim Burton film, Batman the arcade game is a pretty average coin-op. It follows the plot of the film closely, but the gameplay is pretty boring really - it feels like Shinobi/Rolling Thunder, but with Dark Knight overtones.
    About the only interesting aspect of the game is the similarity to the Ocean-developed home game, which while not explicitly a conversion of this particular game, does bear some level of similarity.

    A nice attempt at following the major scenes in the movie, but without context to them, let’s recap what happens here. Batman throws a man into chemicals and scars him mentally and physically, kills dozens of drivers based on their paint job, kidnaps a woman and forces her into his car, punches Joker off of a roof to his death. and to top it all off, he steals the man’s balloons.

    • @syckles
      @syckles 2 года назад +14

      Yeah, now that you mention it, Batman is way less violent and doesn't kill nearly as many people in the game as he does the film... 🤔😂

    This game follows incredibly close to the movies, including the events and how the villain goes. It plays a lot more like a home console SNES game than an arcade with the sidecrolling and amount of time it gives you.

    • @MarcSola7
      @MarcSola7 5 месяцев назад +1

      Atari Games was of course owned by Time Warner (Parent company of Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics) at the time of the arcade release, so they pretty much got most of the assets from the movie to make it as accurate as possible.

      Must have been a thing with the arcade's RAM...remember, this was a game from 1990, and computers weren't that advanced. Plus, I missed that detail the first time, I didn't see it until I saw your comment, so chances are others would have missed it too.

    • @yellowblanka6058
      @yellowblanka6058 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@deanfranz Seems more likely to be an emulation error than something endemic to the arcade version - I'm guessing whomever uploaded this is using an older version of MAME. Also, what you said makes no sense as it would actually use LESS RAM to purge the Batman sprite from memory/ the screen immediately after the Joker falls as it's no longer needed.

    • @guillermojacum7014
      @guillermojacum7014 5 месяцев назад +1

      Probably it's a glitch. They seem to be the frozen playable character that reappears each time the vertical scroll passes certain points (based on the screen height).
      Added: Or they were supposed to be, for instance, gargoyles, but the wrong sprites were copied.

    This batman is quite spastic and jumps 2 stories screaming "I'm batman" nonstop. Fucking 90s. I made it to the part where he was wasting all traffic on the highway before I had to stop. It's like Timothy McVeigh in a batsuit.
