Those Mountain View’s of the sunset was beautiful. Great campsite area too. Love it beside the creek. Your hiking trail on day 2 was so beautiful. Spring Creek trail gets two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻.
The spring light in the woods and that glorious sunset that looked like the sky was on fire behind those dark trees!!! Thanks so much for this Spring trip. Take care - you and the T are not as young as you used to be, so it's very important to stay properly fueled and hydrated!!
Beer at the the truck, bet that was so welcomed by the time you got there! Roads are hard but at least the views were really nice. I love how Timber only goes so far ahead and then stops to see where you are. :) Thanks for sharing your trip! :) :)
The views were pretty good for that road walk! Timber is a great trail dog! When there are other people in the group, he will go up and down the line to make sure that every one os there!
Nice trail along the creek. Don't have to worry about finding water here. Glad you were able to complete your loop. You seem to know what to do when your body is sending you signals, electrolytes, salt. Good to see you brought a pad for Timber to lay on. And there's always that beer at the end of the trail. Thanks Travis.
Was happy to see your body responded well to the proper nutrition and electrolytes! Liked how you set that section of the video to slightly more ominous music lol. looks like an amazing adventure will for sure have to check this range out
"There's beer in the truck" lol, absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for taking the time to film, and edit these videos. Never had the guts to do that alone, let alone without a dog. Timber is great, thanks again!
Yeah you put in the miles for sure on this one. Sounds like you had some severe cramping. Glad it passed. Beautiful area to visit in May! 🥾🌲 Beer at the exit vehicle always makes it better! 🍻
Now that was an adventure. Nothing like being in the middle of nowhere and have a medical. Glad it worked out. Some beautiful country and Timber is looking great. Take care, Al
Beautiful area! I don’t know how this one got past me. I’m guessing I was on my last hike for the season here. It’s already getting into the 100° range here. Too hot. Headed your way Colorado next month. Keep on moving!✌️
Great fun and love the always positive attitude . . . even in the midst of suffering! ;-) Looked like a beatiful place to explore and always a bonus to not enounter anyone for several days.
I challenged myself to complete that route, and even when it got tough I kept pushing on... so no one to blame but myself if I didn't have an overall good time. 😂 But on trips like this one, you know there is going to be some pain. I'm sure you're well aware, maybe more than most, that getting your head in the right place will make all the difference and make the trip more enjoyable. I'll need that trick in the Mallard Larkins.
Nice little early season trip. Those leg cramps can be brutal. Last fall I got camp all set up at Silver Lake and took about an hour nap. Woke up and as I was hanging my legs over the edge of my hammock to put my boots on, leg cramps came on hard in the back of my thighs. Had no choice but to limp around in agony for a little bit, hyperventilating to blow off some CO2 and try to alkaline my blood a big to counteract the lactic acid which I (correctly, I think) suspected was responsible for the cramps. Thankfully didn’t get them on the hike in. Interestingly, if they hit while on the trail, it’s the front of my thighs. But yeah, I’m learning to be cautious about letting my legs dangle over the edge of my hammock after a while on the trail. Might try to have antacids on hand to take prophylactically for the lactic acid. Plus the calcium is supported to help.
That sounds painful! I'm not sure why, but it seems that "hammock" cramps are a common thing. There has been more than a few times that I swing out of the hammock and as I start to put my shoes on, feel them coming on.
Oh man i feel u on the Cramps. On the way out of Moran Basin last year both my hamstrings cramped up and i couldnt walk. Never had that happen before...and the pain as u know is excruciating. Thank god Bird Dog had some electrolites. Saved my tail that day. FYI Gatoaide isnt good for plants, even if it is high in electrolytes. Beautiful sunset shots. Using the drone to capture sunsets is my favourite thing now. Throw a CPL filter on there and it really adds depth to those clouds. Great video...perfect length...was doing stair stepper while watching...and it was 4D submersive. It was like i was there hiking along with ya man! lol
Wow! Both hammys! I swear by some stuff called Tailwind. I've seen it pick up more than one person off of the trail and get them walking. Now I'm one of them too!
What dates were you in there? I think we camped at that little campsite right next to your truck and noticed someone was backpacking! We only went a few miles up that trail and it’s beautiful!
Just saw dates at the end haha we were there at the same time, I like to explore a lot of the same areas you do! I think there’s a chance we will run into each other one of these times!
That is pretty cool! I was checking out that campsite when I got back. I was surprised that the creek there was dry. Hopefully we will run into each other one day out there!
@@mountainwanderer yea it worked alright, little dirty but doesn’t seem to be used very often, accidentally set up under a window maker, whoops! Why was that creek dry right there? Seemed really strange!
Be honest Travis, I know you were elated to see your truck after the hellish road walk but it couldn't have surpassed the misery from Three Forks TH to Troy . . . no way . . . I nearly perished.

I love exploring the lesser known, forgotten creeks in Montana! There's plenty of them!
@@mountainwanderer is your side still ok? I remember it was hurting you up there
@@BackpackingWithJasonYeah, still giving me a bit of trouble
Love love love this one! Thanks for bringing us along. I need to get back to the Cabs.
That southern part of the range gets overlooked a bit. It's still great hiking!
The spring light in the woods and that glorious sunset that looked like the sky was on fire behind those dark trees!!! Thanks so much for this Spring trip. Take care - you and the T are not as young as you used to be, so it's very important to stay properly fueled and hydrated!!
I'm definitely not as young as I used to be! I'm still out there pushing myself though - just have to do it wisely.
That first really tough uphill effort of the year is always a wake up call. Bad cramps after hard efforts is never fun. Glad it worked out!
Definitely scraping the rust off!

Sadly, I've had enough episodes on trail that I have had to learn how to deal with them!

It is a great area that gets overlooked for the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness proper. It's worth checking out!
Thank you! 🤝🏻
Thanks for watching!
"There's beer in the truck" lol, absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for taking the time to film, and edit these videos. Never had the guts to do that alone, let alone without a dog. Timber is great, thanks again!
It would be a different experience without my dog along!

Really just happy to be able to get out and do this in May! There are some benefits to a low-snow year.
Now that was an adventure. Nothing like being in the middle of nowhere and have a medical. Glad it worked out. Some beautiful country and Timber is looking great. Take care, Al
It was a bit of a scary situation, but it was the kind of thing that I've dealt with before so I had supplies with me that helped me get through it.

Wow 100º! Too hot for me! Enjoy Colorado!!
I like to see you hike old stomping grounds. I lived in Clark Fork for 7 years
That is a place I thought would be a nice place to live!
It is
Thanks, great trip! love the wilderness.
Thanks for checking it out!
Great adventure! Glad to see that your cramping got better!
Sometimes you have to have a little pain for a proper adventure!
Welcome back to Montana. The Cabinets are a lot of fun! Those early season hikes can be really tough!
Yep! This was good early season warm up!
Enjoyed watching your solo adventure with Timber. Really nice views. Thnx for posting.

I went out into the mountains to see if I was ready for summer backpacking... the mountains responded - no, no you're not ready!

Found it never mind Big Hole Peak Lookout. I was looking way in the wrong direction.

Isn't this Lolo not Cabinets...?
Both are correct. I was in the Cabinet range and in the Lolo National Forest.
Bump.
