I bought the 3 port version of this timer almost 8 years ago and this same thing happened ... went to buy a new one and they were $80! insane! . Glad i found this video.
They are in general pretty reliable. Hopefully this fix can get you going for another eight years. 😊 Thanks for watching my video! 👍
For those who want to do this themselves:
Part #1 is a Reducing Male adapter 436-101 (or 436101) -- it is 1/2" to 3/4 MPT (male national pipe thread)
Part #2 is a 3/4 fnpt to 3/4 fht -- 3/4 female national pipe thread to 3/4 female hose thread. He used Orbit model 53363, but this is a somewhat generic part.
Thank you for the video. Same problem, leak in connector. Great idea to fix. Save planet, repair staff!

Glad I could help. Cheers! 👍
@@HypergaugeDIY well it popped of what did you use to glue it
@@vincebarbato9642 PVC cement amzn.to/2Dv2HGW Give it some time to fully dry. It should hold pretty well. Mine is still working since repaired. Good luck.

Exelent brother
Thanks!. Glad you like it. 👍
excellent. very innovative!
Thank you! Cheers!👍
Thanks. The same thing happened to my Rainbird electronic hose timer shortly after using. At least there is hope of fixing it. These should be better made for the price. They're about $44 at home depot.
Good job fixing your timer. 👍
Similar thing happened to my Melnor timer. That water connection fitting is the Achilles heel of that timer and it goes for $60
Smart!
Thank you for watching my video.
My piece cracked after one season. I think because I left it out in a few freezes?? Or, it's just that cheap of plastic. Thanks for the fix ideas.
I own a few Orbit sprinklers. This is the only one has a broken connectors. After the repair it is still working now. A couple of them are into 10years of services for me. I guess I can't complaint the overall quality. Best luck with your repair! 👍
Instead of sanding down the pvc, I was able to hit it with a heat gun to soften it up. Slipped right on!
Nice idea.
did you also use pvc glue?
A rotory tool, like you have, with a metal cut off wheel works very well in cutting through plastic like that.
Great point! Just need to do it slowly. 👍
any concerns that the wire mesh screen inside the removed piece is not replaceable? thanks in advance.
Thank you for watching my video. I don't think that mesh screen is a big concern if you are using city water. I will try to add extra filter if the water source has known issue with poor quality.
The mesh screen washer for water hose pipe is easily replaced. Any hardware store should have one in a blister pack... maybe $1.50.
I have this same timer but it won’t shut off. Any ideas?
Sorry to hear that. If the battery is in good condition then check to make sure there is nothing blocking the valve. Otherwise the motor or the circuit board is bad. Good luck with your repair and thanks for watching my video.
I’ve gone through two of these Orbit type of single timers and the solenoid fails within a year or so. It still clicks but does not open up to allow the water to flow through. Any ideas why this is happening or how to fix?
Have you try to open the unit to take a look inside. Could be debris blocking the valve. I own these sprinkler over 5 years and still working fine for me. Good luck with your repair.👍
@@HypergaugeDIY I’ve got one and my neighbor has one that is blocked and that is exactly what I plan to do after seeing these videos. I’m guessing the rubber flap inside is stuck with sediment. Thanks for your help.
Hello, mine doesn't power on anymore even if I change the battery. Any Idea ? Thx
Thanks for watching my video! I will suggest making sure the batteries are in good condition, and all the connectors in the battery tray are good. If they are not the problem, there is a chance you have a more serious problem with electronics. Good luck!
Mine only last two years. Mine is not turning on the water.
Sorry to hear that. May need to open up the entire unit to check the problem. No simple solution. Mine are still working just fine after many many years. I only replace the battery every spring. Lucky me I guess. 👍
Hey have you ever seen one blank 01 and you can't do nothing else
No I have not. If the battery is good. It could be the circuit board is bad. Best luck with your project.
