On a slightly different note, I am part of Loose Ends Project. When someone dies or becomes disabled with an unfinished project, they find a volunteer to finish the project for the family. They do all kinds of crafts, so knitting, crochet, quilting, needle work....
My grandma was partway through a blanket for her youngest grandbaby when she passed. Someone in her knitting group finished it for us and I tell you I sobbbbed when I opened that package. I was told I was receiving yarn and some WIPS (with the hope of finishing some grandma sweaters) so it was a huge shock.
Project Linus gave my daughter a blanket when she was 3-1/2 years old and had leukemia. She is now 31 years old (and very healthy) and she still has the blanket. It really made a huge impact on her life. We are very grateful to Project Linus.
I want to thank you for creating this video. I have crafty friends who love to make all matter of crafts, but say they don't feel like they can justify continuing to produce items that nobody wants. Their family has all the blankets, scarves and stuffed animals that they could possibly use. I suggested we give items to charity, but they didn't know where to start because thrift stores aren't the answer. The list you supply is very helpful!
I am SO glad this list will help you and your friends to find purpose and a reason to keep crocheting. The charities in this video are just a precious few to what all is out there. I hope this video is just the beginning for you all. 🤗🧶❤️
I have a charity I haven't seen mentioned. It is Project Chemo Crochet. They accept 100% acrylic 9 x 9 granny squares to make blankets for chemo patients young and old. You make the squares any pattern/style, as long as they are the size required and the founder has a team of joiners who put the blankets together. I also recommend small things that can fit in shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Thanks for the list Tiffany. I participated in the shawl project last year with Warm Up America. It was so much fun. Also there are places in your own communities who, if you reach out, would be happy with your creations. If not, they could point you in the right direction. ❤
I recently cleaned out my yarn stash and donated a lot of new and leftover skeins of yarn and accessories to a nearby nursing home in my county for their residents to use. They were so appreciative to receive the yarn because their residents don’t have the ability or funds to get out and shop. Most are elderly and have the skills to crochet but not access to supplies. My mom loved to crochet and it helped her to be productive during her time in a nursing home. She crocheted numerous scarves and hand warmers and gave them as Christmas gifts to other residents and staff. She loved being able to give a handmade gift to those around her during the holidays. ❤
Absolutely THE BEST crochet RUclips ever. We should be thinking of others above ourselves....TY for providing a way to reach out to those in need. Better to give than receive.
Thank you for this information. I am a cancer survivor and have donated several different items during my treatment, and now that I am no longer on treatments. I might have missed slippers, but one of the most asked for items that I have taken are slippers made similar to socks. I try and make slippers and hats to match. These items go very fast, and they are always grateful when I take them. The nice soft acrylic yarn is important as many that are taking treatments have very sensitive skin. Thank you again for all of this information. I have also donated to homeless centers that have food and showers, so the soap bags go very fast there and are so appreciated. ❤
I loved this video and the listed charities. I crochet scarves for Operation Gratitude, which provides boxes for active military members and their families.
I'm interested in a number of these organizations, but Knitted Knockers brought tears to my eyes, so I think I might start there. It's so wonderful to know that a handmade gift can bring comfort and healing to our fellow travelers in this world. ❤
Thank you Tiffany for giving us the info on the charities. I have been crocheting for the last 5 years after having a major heart attack that has restricted my activities. I cannot tell you how excited I am about this. Now I have a purpose and I think you are wonderful for bringing all the charities to our attention. Thank you again.
I am overjoyed for you!!! Yes! This will give you purpose in a big way because so many need help and you can do that. Thank you so much for helping to make this world a better place. 😊❤️🧶
I both knit and crochet, and I love making blankets. When I worked I made baby blankets for coworkers. Now that I’m retired, I need a charity to give them to.
Wow! Thanks for the exhaustive list. I currently hand knit, Addi knit, and crochet hats for our local homeless shelter. They house 80 residents. This year I am going to make up bags for each resident so I can give more than a hat. I am going to add the soap sack and soap as well as other items this year. I will look into these other causes too. Thanks again.
This was so helpful, particularly identifying organizations that accept small pieces like squares. I’m a slow worker, so having a place where I can offer this type of work is really great for me. Also, having a nice long list like this helps as well.
I am making shawls, wraps and lapghans for my local Visiting Nurse Association Hospice team for patients. They provided care for my mother for the last year of her life. They are welcoming the gifts and I like to think of the patients and their families as being wrapped in love.
Thank you for sharing this info. I am a cancer warrior and these donations made a huge impact on myself and my fellow chemo chair buddies. They made us feel so special. I’m excited to share the love now.
Hi from 🇫🇷! Every October, crocheters do something pink for Cancer warriors. Last October I did several cute bags. It’s not a charity but in the part of town I live we are organizing a crochet crew to crochet things to embellish trees and others . Have a sweet Easter 😘🌺❤️
Another great charity is Project Robby. They provide keepsake hat, blanket, and angel wing sets for mothers/families that have lost babies/pregnancies. Their motto is "No matter the gestation, your baby matters."
I LOVE this! Thank you so much for posting all of these. My (newly formed) business I formed in honor of my Grandmother (Nikki), who for as long as long as I can remember, has crocheted cute animals that “lived” around her home waiting for new homes and/or even better…someone to learn how to make their own. I learned how to make (1st) blankets, and later amigurumi and my youngest daughter also learned how to crochet from my grandmother during a time when she badly needed a distraction from some tense health issues her dad (my ex-husband) was just beginning to deal with, knowing it wasn’t going to improve. Crochet has helped my Grandmother brighten many lives and in turn I’m making it my business to keep her legacy going by donating some crochet projects and money made with my projects, as well as raising awareness for a few conditions and illnesses that have affected our family. ❤ thank you for what YOU are doing & I intend to add at least one of the charities mentioned here to our list! ~ Christine F. O’Hagan 😊
You are most welcome!! I’m so happy my video was able to connect you with a purpose for all the crocheting you do. 🤗 It will really help so many people. ❤️🧶
In my community the foster care system runs a center where they can provide items to children who have been delivered to new homes with no personal belongings. They welcome things like blankets and clothing and accessories and stuffed animals to help these kids have something of their very own and take some of the burden off the foster parents. I’ve donated baby and kid blankets and hat, scarf and mitten sets several times. I’ll be checking out some of the links you provided to see where else I can donate. Thanks for sharing!
This has some incredible information!! Thank you! So many worthwhile organizations to donate items to I have so many items that my family doesn't want or need. Some great ideas!!!!!
I am a member of the Senior Citizen crochet group. We crochet projects for local charities/non-profit agencies. We crochet hats & scarves for homeless, shawls for hospice patients, lap blankets for the nursing home & blankets for the pregnancy resource center.
I'm not sure if the humane shelter is giving crocheted blankets to the dogs. I know someone who works with a state humane shelter and the donated crochet items are not used as crochet blankets are hazards for the dogs. Their nails get caught, some dogs chew them and the yarn comes apart...I've been told employees just take them home.
Thank you for including Warm Up America. I made about 15 blankets for them years ago when they were just asking for blankets or squares that could be made into blankets. I had lost touch with them and am glad to hear them listed here. I will try to check them out again since I am now retired.
Last year I donated 47 blankets (mostly baby blankets) to Warm Up America, as well as 14 beanies. So far this year, I have a dozen shawls for them. I gave 14 beanies to a friend who hands them out to homeless people when she comes across them as she drives for Uber.
Thank you, Tiffany, for these suggestions. I crochet at “Prayer Shawl” every week with a group of ladies from our church in New Jersey. I am going to tell them about these charities and see what they may be interested in to support. This is a big help to us! Thanks, again!
The "title" caught my eye, and I watched it! 😊 You got me "hooked" (and became a new subscriber)! 😆 Thank you so much for sharing this information. I will put it to good use.
I was so amazed at your tutorial on the beanie crochet hats etc.to the point I continued to watch more of your videos. The yarn measurements I greatly appreciated though I wish there was a way to figure out how much yarn I would need before using one skein and measuring off of that so when I go to purchase yarn I would know how much to get. instead of having to go back to the store again. But what impressed me the most and thank you so much is the charities you suggested. I have been wanting to donate my time and projects to charities but was not sure how to go about it until now. I am now an empty nester as my children are grown and I now have grandchildren which I can only crochet so much for them and go along as they grow. With so much yarn left over and have run out of projects to do. Thank you again for such a fantastic video. Many of the charities you suggested hits close to home. I am so excited to get started!
That’s amazing Denise! I’m so happy the charity connection hit home for you! It’s definitely a passion of mine! Oh! I actually created a whole swatch series I think you will LOVE!! On my channel search swatch and I will show you the magic behind it! 🤗❤️🧶
Tiffany, you are such a beautiful soul. Inside and outside. I love what you are doing. I basically knit and crochet 95% for charity. It releases so much endorphins for both the giver and the receiver. Thank you for all the information. I sometimes run out of places to give. 💜🌸
I am so excited by this video! I love to crochet but I’ve run out of things to make and people to make it for. This is splendid! I didn’t know these charities existed.
Tiffany, this is a wonderful video. I have made hats for shelters and charities. It's just wonderful to have more options. Not sure which one to pick, they all sound very useful. I am SO glad this video helped to give you a place to send all of your finished items. It can be such a relief AND feel so good to be able to help people. 🤗❤️🧶
THANK YOU, Tiffany for this! You created a video right up my alley. One of the organizations I used to make beanies for ended up going under after the Covid shutdown and I've been looking for a way to volunteer my services, and this is truly amazing. I'm going on all of the sites. I love to crochet and this will give me an opportunity to get rid of my huge stash. THANKS!
I am overjoyed that this video was able to connect you with so many different charity options you can help since the last organization you were helping shut down. You have so many diverse project types you can now play with and enjoy while also making the world a better place. Thank you so much for your kind heart that wants to help people. ❤️😊🧶
My daughter was a nicu baby that recieved a beautiful crocheted blanket and knitted hat which we still have packed away. Such a lovely thing that means so much. She's about to turn 19!
Great video with alot of information on many charities we can make crocheted items to donate and help out. Thanks for putting this together. I also made blankets with Comfort for Critters for blankets to donate to certain animal rescues so the newly adopted animal has some comfort and goes home with their own blanket. ❤
I have almost all these items that I have crocheted. This is something I would whole heartily do. Now I have somewhere to send a lot of my items... thank you so much..
I'm in my fourth year of making hats and scarves for my local Texas Girls and Boys Ranch, but have been wanting to expand my giving. Thanks for all the wonderful charities to check out!
This was a great round up of charities, including a few that were new to me. I'd like to add Operation Gratitde to your list. They accept crocheted hats, scarves, Frisbees and small amigurumi.
Thank you for suggesting Operation Gratitude. This is what I was looking for and just reading the comments I found yours! Thru Tiffany I found you and what I needed! 💖
I needed some more motivation to create. Thank you for creating this video and reminding me of things I can make to help charities. I have donated to Warm Up America recently. I have donated to NICU making preemie hats, and newborn hats. Thank you again for this video and the reminding me of what I can do for others.
I didn't know there were so many charities asking for knit and crochet items! I'm very excited as my family members are overloaded with all the scarves and blankets they have received as gifts. Both my daughters have requested no more scarves please! Lol You have given me great resources here. I cant wait to get started my next project 😊
Thank you so much for sharing these amazing charities! Most of them are new to me, which is exciting!! I love the idea of the preemies because they’re quick to make and I can make a lot of them. Plus the ones for dogs, because I can make them the same things I sell and just sew eyes instead of using plastic safety eyes. I did soap sacks last year and included soap and mailed it to an organization not far from me. This year I’m thinking of just making the sacks and sending them to the NJ office… again, thank you for all you do. You really inspire me and I appreciate it so much!! 💜🧶
Hi Tiffany, I knit and crochet baby blankets snd crank hats for children in Romania. We send hundreds of Christmas in a shoe boxes. It is such a fun project.
Good Morning Tiffany. I want to Thank You for providing me with a list of charities I can support . I’m literally going to start today.. Thank you for your kindness.
Tiffany what a great video!!!! So many options. I participated when you did the soap saks and warm up America shawl drives. I loved it. It was so much fun. Def going to look into some of these other organizations. Thanks so much for sharing 💕
I want to try first the soap bag and her in Atlanta there is a company does mobile showers so I’m also going to donate some soap bags to them. Thank you for the information new at crocheting so this will be fun!😊
On a slightly different note, I am part of Loose Ends Project. When someone dies or becomes disabled with an unfinished project, they find a volunteer to finish the project for the family. They do all kinds of crafts, so knitting, crochet, quilting, needle work....
I love this! How special
Yes I signed up with them too but haven't been called to work on a project in my area.
I haven’t signed up for them yet. But my mom saw an article on it and passed that on to me!!
My grandmother left an unfinished tablecloth. I’ve tried finding someone but have been unsuccessful.
Project Linus gave my daughter a blanket when she was 3-1/2 years old and had leukemia. She is now 31 years old (and very healthy) and she still has the blanket. It really made a huge impact on her life. We are very grateful to Project Linus.
That’s who I crochet for. I’m so happy to know they go to a good cause. It means so much to me that it means so much to the recipient.
Me too!!
I have a ministry I began 40 years ago.
I crochet prayer shawls and hand out to others I feel are in need. My grandmother taught me how to make them.
That sounds so beautiful and touching Pamela! Thank you for sharing the projects you make to help make this world a better place. ❤️❤️😊🧶🧶

Looking forward to the next campaign. Thank you
Great video with alot of information on many charities we can make crocheted items to donate and help out. Thanks for putting this together. I also made blankets with Comfort for Critters for blankets to donate to certain animal rescues so the newly adopted animal has some comfort and goes home with their own blanket. ❤
Love soap sacks as an organization.

Thanks!

Thank you so much for this information!!!!!
