The Guitarist John is why I love the Chili's when he is in them. His first album with them Mother's Milk has some food stuff on IIT, the next Blood Sugar Sex Magik is a masterpiece, he then left for a few years and came back for Californication, By The Way + Stadium Arcadium albums, all great. Now he is back for a third time, can't wait to see what new stuff they come up with now that he is back. - Now John is back I have my favourite rock band active again.

Must do Chili's Throw Away Your Television, Parallel Universe and Don't Forget Me, all three live at Slane Castle, all available of RUclips, as is that whole legendary gig. I would start with those three. John's guitar playing on all three is mind-blowing.
That guy in the band with the harmonizing you like is John Frusciante, their lead guitarist. He’s incredibly talented. In my opinion, the band is only great when he’s in it. He’s been in and out of the band over the past 25 years or so. He joined the band (as a tennager, I think), and the album they made with him, is when the band really blew up. He got messed up with heroin and quit the band. He came back after a few years and they turned out a few more classic albums, but he was having issues again and left again. They had a different guitarist for like the past 10 years, and their albums have been ok, but not great. Now he is back!!! So hopefully he’s healthy and they turn out some more timeless songs!
Heard this live when I saw them live in 2012 they are one of my favorite bands of all time so seeing them live was one of those pinch me I must be dreaming moments they have so many good songs road trippin purple stain dont forget me hard to concentrate slow cheetah

The dude singing background harmonies in a trash can wrote most of the bass, guitar, and vocal melodies for the whole album. They basically gave him control for this one and I love the result but it almost broke up the band because the rest of the band felt stifled. I think you’re right to give him credit if you like this song.
