If you live on the U.S/Canada border, you may want to consider getting NEXUS instead of TSA PreCheck or Global Entry. It only costs $50 as opposed to $85/$100, and in addition to having every single benefit included in the other 2 programs, it also allows expedited entry into Canada via land or air.
The catch is that while Nexus is better than Global Entry which is better than TSA precheck, the convenience of enrollment goes the opposite direction. TSA precheck has way more enrollment centers than Global Entry and Global Entry has more enrollment centers than Nexus. So while you can save money by getting Nexus, for many, it isn't a practical option because they live too far from their enrollment center. Global Entry and anything that includes it like Nexus and Sentri are more selective in their application process than with TSA precheck alone. So the application process may take longer as well as increasing the odds of rejection.
Here in Austin I don't have global entry and immigration was so quick idk why anyone would get it. Everyone is waiting on their checked bags after the flight anyways. So whoever gets a bag first gets to go through immigration first. When I went I didn't even need to show my passport. Their face recognition checked me in. It took 10 seconds? After I had my bag. I noticed lots of people went to the global entry kiosk but still had to wait on luggage.
Recently returning to MSP using Global Entry didn’t even require the card. The kiosk scanned my eyes in less than 5 seconds. I was done. No line. Easiest thing ever. 👍🏼
The fact that there’s paid services to monitor for appointment available is a testament to that… only good part is when you’re coming back from international travel it’s possible to get it done then
I was checking 2, 3 times/ day for a month and finally some spots open. When I searched, I selected “appointment BY” and input a date that was 4 months out. It will list all airports that have appointments for that timeframe. That day there were several dates open from September to November, and each day had multiple slots. I reserved 3 spots for my family. Shortly after I wanted to change the appointment date, logged back in but all the appointments were taken. It’s gone very fast. Appointments will open up from time to time, in anticipation for the upcoming holidays I guess, but you need to check often. Good luck.
I paid for AppointmentScan, and it texts me every time someone cancels their global entry interview at a facility near me. Other option is to arrive back at one of the airports listed within your application year.
TSA PreCheck is great for US citizens, but when you're a foreign national like me, you HAVE to go Global Entry. I applied in early July of last year and got conditionally approved on August 1st. I was going for 'enrollment on arrival' when I travelled to the US in November, but that didn't work out too well. Because of hurricane Nicole, I landed in Tampa instead of Orlando and the wait time for an interview was about 5 hours! Of course, there was no way I was going to sit for 5 hours after just getting off an 8+ hour flight 🙂 Then, in early February, I got an e-mail from CBP, informing me that interviews were being held at Schiphol airport this week (March 2023). I made the appointment, arrived on time and was done in about 5 minutes, including the time it took to take my mugshot and fingerprints! I look forward to using the Global Entry kiosk for the first time when I'm flying into Atlanta next June 🙂
Atlanta happened to have the new Global Entry kiosks (just stand in front of it and have your picture taken) and I was through immigration in less than 2 minutes! Of course, I still had to wait for my checked suitcase to show up, but at least I didn't have to wait in line 🙂
If you only travel international once a year or every couple of years the aggravation of scheduling a GE interview is not worth it. I have GE, and yes you get TSAPre included, but it was a PITA to get an interview because not all airports do them. GE is not worth the hassle if you don’t fly int’l regularly.
I’ve heard it’s tough but had a few people said appointmentscanner.com helped them get an appointment! There are a few twitter accounts that alert people to interview openings too!
Applying is fast but getting an interview is hard. You should apply and consider doing the interview when you arrive back at the airport in the U.S. they have interviews on arrival www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/enrollment-arrival
Any tips on getting global entry for my family? I have one of those cards that offers $100 but I also have 2 kids and a husband who doesn’t have my credit card. We just returned from a international fight and stood on line for 3 hours just going through customs!
Have your husband open a credit card that offers TSA Precheck/Global Entry credit so that you and him are both covered. As for your children (under 17 years old), if you apply for TSA precheck, they won’t need to apply for it also assuming they will be traveling with you. They can just follow you into the line regardless if it’s on their boarding line or not. If they travel alone, then in that scenario you’ll need to buy them a membership because they won’t be allowed into precheck. HOWEVER, if you get Global Entry, you’ll have to eat the $200 cost because they’ll have to get their own membership each regardless of age. No exceptions.
I already have TSA pre check, do I need to pay AGAIN and apply again to get global entry? Or is there a shortcut since we have tsa pre check? Much appreciated!
Is there a timeline for this benefit ? I openex 2 cards few months ago and haven't used it because i have global entry. But i wish to use it to pay for my sister and mom.
I put in an application for the global not realizing that the appointments were so hard to get and not even in my area. Is it possible now to switch that application to a TSA pre-check? Or do I have to apply all over again?
I like how you don’t add any annoying music playing in the background. This way we can focus on your content. Great video. Subscribed

Impossible to get a Global Entry interview right now.

Go on a vacation to Mexico, as long as you pre approved. They will ask a few questions and your done.

I was able to sign up for tsa pre-check within a month to 6 weeks of my flight. global entry sounds like a 1 year at least process.

Or just get Nexus for $50 USD which includes both Global Entry and TSA PreCheck...

Well. The wait time for GE is between 6 to 18 month.
So helpful and easy to understand! Thank you!
Hi! You forgot to add how hard it is to schedule a Global Entry interview.
I’ve heard it’s tough but had a few people said appointmentscanner.com helped them get an appointment! There are a few twitter accounts that alert people to interview openings too!
It's possible that I could fail to get global entry with a felony.
Pre-check may be easier.
How long is the process? I’m leaving to Bahamas in 9 days and I’ll be going to Brazil in the beginning of September

Not really. Many pre-checks also make you take off shoes and all that stuff. It is airport dependent.
Yes really. Curious to know what TSA Precheck airport required you to take off your shoes
I have been waiting 7 months to get approved. I let my GE lapse.
I liked the video

Hey Max! what is your favorite way to use 60K Aeroplan points?
I already have TSA pre check, do I need to pay AGAIN and apply again to get global entry? Or is there a shortcut since we have tsa pre check? Much appreciated!
You’ll need to pay again to get global entry
Is there a timeline for this benefit ? I openex 2 cards few months ago and haven't used it because i have global entry. But i wish to use it to pay for my sister and mom.
No timeline! Just the $100 credit once every 5 years
I put in an application for the global not realizing that the appointments were so hard to get and not even in my area. Is it possible now to switch that application to a TSA pre-check? Or do I have to apply all over again?
You can call a nearby CBP office to ask but to my knowledge all application fees are non refundable
what happens if someone booked our flight for us but forgot to enter our KTN?
It’s likely you won’t get Precheck for those flights
This whole TSA crap is just to invade your personal space
If I already have TSA PreCheck and I apply for Global Entry, does this extend my TSA PreCheck for another 5 years?
I already have TSA pre check. Can that just be upgraded to GE?
No. You have to submit another application and pay the $100 application fee.
@@tatianabritton6258 would you happen to know if your TSA PreCheck status is extended if you apply for Global Entry?
@@jakereilly5901 no
sir can i use any credit card for global entry payment?
Yes
what if you have a DUI can you get it?
My husband had 2 that were over 10 years. He got his Global Entry.
I hope they say no because you knew it was illegal to drink and then drive and you still violated the law so you won’t follow any TSA rules I’m sure
Great content🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🔥
Is Global Entry the same as the SENTRI program?
No.
