Can you believe it!? - all the pain we went through on this rebuild. How many things went wrong!? but we didn't give up and managed to figure the failures out. To now finally see the bike complete is so rewarding! Thank you all for the advice and motivation you gave throughout the rebuild and let's bring on the next project 😎
My guy cant wait for next project. Also cant wait to see her on road. When I heard you before say it was your dads bike i thought he just had a thunderace back in the day. I didn't realise this was THE same bike! Maybe eveb one too goodto be sold or gave away keep her just make sure shes used!
Instead of letting us hear the result of your efforts.. you chose to corrupt our senses with your choice of noise.. was a good series but for that 🙉 .. have a mint 17k km TA myself.. red n white.. they are smooth.. 750 six speed would be a great upgrade
This popped up as suggestion, and I clicked on it as I've been watching Dirty Garage Guy's videos on this build. Your progression is good to see - getting the workshop, taking on board comments, and all that. You seem to take others' knowledge on board, unlike some of the other RUclipsrs Matt looks at in depth. You're definitely learning, and a world away from when you started fixing it on your driveway. Are you mechanic level yet? No, but neither am I, and I think we'd both be the first to admit it. You've definitely moved on from just "having a go" though. A long way on from that. Onwards and upwards.
Wow wow wow amazing Rye mate so so proud of you mate.that bike looks and sounds so awesome you have done so so well mate.looking forward to watching you ride it now.i really loved watching the videos and content on the rebuild.youre the best mate.so so proud of you mate.really looking forward to watching the videos and content on the next new bike build mate.wow wow amazing awesome the thunder ace looks.congrats on it mate incredible.from Dan.m🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️
@@BikesofRye that's my pleasure mate.i am so so proud of you the bike looks so awesome .hopefully I would love to meet you one day in the future.from Dan.m🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️😎😎
Well done. I'm a few months behind you in restoring my 120,000km 1999 Thunderace. In my case I've completely disassembled the whole bike as it has been a long distance for a sports bike. I am now waiting for Yamaha to deliver new crankshaft bearings and then it is time to start the reassembly process. I also came across the same problem with tiny glass beads blocking threads after vapour blasting. They are really difficult to remove from the threads and I suspect were responsible for your cam cap bolt thread failing. The glass beads are really hard so the threads tend to fail first when you screw a bolt in.
Looks absolutely fantastic! What an amazing job. You should be very proud buddy. 👏 Love the colour and finish too. Regarding using your vacuum gauges to balance the carbs: you can adjust the screws on the carbs with engine running-you don’t need to turn it off each time. Also, there should be some damper tubes supplied with them that go into the vacuum lines to the gauges. These will smooth the vibration a bit and make the gauges more stable/easy to read.
Excellent👏 Great job Rye! Oh yeah get yourself two box fans to help vent, one pulling fresh air in the other extracting. Yes yes yes, what’s next on the build list!
Honestly I think the outcome is incredible. Some of the criticisms levelled against the workmanship have felt a little mean spirited, considering its always been from the point of view of a beginner. I dont think many would pick up a spanner for the first time and have not 1 but 2 incredible finished products. Well done
For sure I did try this however the left and right adjustment screws were impossible to get to, unless you twisted the throttle slightly which altered the adjustment screws
All I can say is wow, love your builds they make me laugh because I go through similar things when I do jobs on my bikes. I feel your thrill and your pain. Well done! 😂
Been waiting for your next upload and it feels like it's been forever! GREAT COLOR CHOICE. What a BEAST We have finally sorted out our wiring and got the bike to swing over with the fuel pump trying to prime. But we have an issue with spark now. We have voltage going to the coil packs, but no spark coming out from the leads. Did you also face this issue? Or have any of the fellow THUNDERACE people in the comments have this issue too, Help, please. #BikesofRye #YZFTHUNDERACE #YAMAHA #BEASTBUILD #DELTABOX2 #MECHANIC #MACHINE #RIDEITLIKEYOUSTOLEIT!
She looks great fella, well done. Love that colour. I think you should buy a cheap PDR (paintless dent removal) kit and try to get that dent out of the end can. It’s the only thing that screams out ‘fix me Dad!’ 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
That's really nice, understated and classy. How about doing a project with Nicole involved from the start? She's obviously switched on and not afraid of grafting and it would make your channel unique.........and unique is what makes channels grow. Possibly it would attract more female subscribers as well, there are a lot of women bikers and where I work now a good 25% of our apprentices and "recently qualified" engineers/toolmakers are young women. Both of you with a bit of banter rebuilding bikes could be a winner.
Wow!! Amazing work im from Namibia and soon buying a 2001 yamaha thunderace and if i may ask what coler is that would love to make mine almost the same coler..
Wow saw it an hour ago..what a bike you did a fantastic job..if you ever sell it the next owner really has something special..well done can't stand these new bikes got no soul i have an immaculate honda vfr 750 27 years old still fantastic but im from the 80s ..gsxr gpz powervales zxr etc..all great bikes and more....keep up on what you are doing its great..thankyou.
The bike looks absolutely brilliant! Keep doing what you do 👍‼ (FYI - The filters on your respirator are mounted 180˚ out. The narrow end faces forward.)
New brake lines would have dot4 resistance paint/coating and being braided huge stopping upgrade in feel. Gorgeous and congratulations 🎉...... now for the scary first ride that everything works and doesn't fall off 😂. Couple of good brake tests before that throttle 😉. After your ride answer was and has it been worth it with both pos/neg. And what's the new build coming.
Very smart mate I like the black all over the frame swing arms etc… it really is looking very nice 😉 it’s an improvement on the black bird… but don’t get me wrong I liked the bird but this one is a new level well the next level 😮 let’s see what’s next!!! I’ll keep watching dude 🙏
Good on ya mate. I am not sure that I could have pulled it off without a lot of swearing and tool throwing,,,,,but only in the garage.....no point in throwing expensive gear away even if you are pi**ed off.
You;l be surprised how competitive that bike still is, street riding, among newer bikes. I remember it could pick up the front wheel in 4th, at close to 100mph.
Colour me impressed. After the engine issue I would have robbed anything useful off it and set the rest on fire. Finished product looks very tidy indeed. 👍
Wow, you did that incredibly well. Your perseverance is inspiring for many. It was so challenging in the beginning, but you kept going, and look at it now!"
you said that you might reveal the cost of restoration, having kept it as minimal as you can by doing so much of the work yourself. i'd be interested as the owner of an old 'ace, currently on sorn. i haven't sold it as values are poor and i'd lose out badly on what i paid.
Well done getting the bike done , you had many ups and downs but it has all paid off with your sheer determination on getting the bike done . Bike looks well nice bro 🤟👍
Not a big fan of this era of sports bikes. But man she looks sweet as a nut! 😍 Can’t wait to hear her ripping through the rpms when you take it out for a spin!
Fair play fella👍😎 I have an R1 and the carbs alone have been a pain in the A$$ let alone delving into the engine. Kudos to you sir you did a great job😎👌
wow that does look good, and it sounds better too, in the last video I didnt want to say anything because you were so happy that it had started, but i was thinking that don't sound right

Let's see a short review RIDE of it.. just looking to buy one at 18k km mint one owner.. $4000nz seems a steal & no takers for months

That’s the nicest thunderace I’ve ever seen. Well done that man. Brilliant!
Glad all my hardwork has paid off 🙌🏼

Thats a beaut! you have done an excellent job on that bike! love the colour and it sounds sweet! no wonder you're happy...well done!
Thank you very much! We got there in the end 😁
You haven't fitted the dampers into the gauges pipes! That's why the gauges rods are jumping about and hard to read
Tell you what mate,,you've done an awesome job.it looks very nice.well done mate.
Thank you so much 😀
Well done on the finished result and sticking with it despite the set backs 👍😅
Looks better than they did new !
What an adventure, You nailed it! Absolutely mint, well done 👏👏🎆
Glad you enjoyed it
That. Is. Gorgeous. The paint job is phenomenal. Great work!

excellent transformation.a big pat on the back from me. Perseverance and hard work pay off.cheers
Yes! Thank you!
That thunderace is incredible!
BOR, what a bike!
Kudos young man!
It sounds like it's about to throw a leg out of bed at any moment.
Get it checked out.
If yamaha made them look that good they probably would have sold more.
Some well-deserved congrats! Enjoy it now!
Excellent👏 Great job Rye! Oh yeah get yourself two box fans to help vent, one pulling fresh air in the other extracting. Yes yes yes, what’s next on the build list!
That will be a surprise 😁
Nice work M8. I'm just up the road (Hitchin) !
Shame about the spectacles though 👓👓👓👓

She looks stunning mate, but I will be honest. You really need to keep her. If you don't I believe you will regret parting with it.
I have to comment! What an absolute belter! Top, top job mate! Brilliantly done!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟please keep it.
Thank you so much 😀
Amazing, amazing series mate. I couldn’t stop watching! You done such a good job in the end, well done sir 👏🏻
Glad you enjoy it!
Woot woot, hard work and perseverance paid off, congrats Rye!
Yes! Thank you!
Fantastic job well done👌
Advice: leave the bike running when you're adjusting the carbs; pretty sure it says as much in the instructions.
For sure I did try this however the left and right adjustment screws were impossible to get to, unless you twisted the throttle slightly which altered the adjustment screws

OMG WOW. That is as Gorgeous as The Blackbird. Many congratulations 👍😁.
Unreal!
Well done on all your hard graft mate. The Thunderace looks the superb
Great job mate well done ❤
The bike looks awesome!! You have the patience of a saint!!!! tremendous achievement, and perseverance.... Well done, you
Buen trabajo quedó muy bonita la Yamaha.

@@BikesofRye enjoyed the video tho!
Looks absolutely beautiful, great job
Thank you! Cheers!
She’s looking sweet again! Congrats mate, another success!
What a great job.
Thank you!
Wow!! Looks amazing mate! Well done. Can’t wait to see what’s next on the channel.
You want it on a high idle
Setting carbs .1500 odd . You had it on idle ?
Should be set up on a higher rpm not idle….
Don't be trolls... It's perfect!
Now you tell me 🤣 I will give them another check thanks for sharing!
I'm a hater. Put 600mi on it. Prove me wrong.
I prove haters wrong every episode. They just keep returning. 600miles on the bike won't change a thing. There will 100% be something else
Great job
Beautiful bike..well done sir
Thank you kindly

Nice job. Love my Chunderace well underrated like just the 750 but faster. Not sure why you would want to spend over 10 grand on a newer faazend.

I take it you've re-registered it with the new frame an' all?
Sounds a little rough too. Maybe a carb tune would be in order?
You should be well proud of that looks fantastic. Big pat on the back......
Well done, certainly worked hard on it. Guess it passed the MOT? Enjoy the ride.
Well done getting the bike done , you had many ups and downs but it has all paid off with your sheer determination on getting the bike done . Bike looks well nice bro 🤟👍
Wow that bike looks amazing 🎉what a fantastic job you done what’s nexts for you
you should synch the carbs having it run at atleast 2000rpm and just adjust it while it is running.
Rye, that looks mint mate, proper chuffed for you man, great series!!!
Lovely bike.
My first bike was it’s baby brother the thunder cat.
Nice build but you should have done the rings. Next video a compression test please.
well done mate, you've done a brilliant job, bike looks amazing.
