Do you think the city of LA has trained the parking enforcement to know what to do if they encounter a driverless car ? Seems like this guy knew exactly what to do
It's a strong possibility! I know Waymo do work with and train law enforcement on how to interact with their cars. However in this case, the car will behave exactly how a human would, so there's no extra steps necessary. They seemed to do exactly what they were doing for every other car.
Imagine how much we could save on medical transport for my disabled mother if I could just rent a self driving car for the ~30 minutes to a doctor's appointment instead of having to pay someone to wait with a van
Some people do get really nervous! Although I've found most get used to it pretty quickly after 5 or so mins. I've heard that the car will stop pretty fast if it detects someone trying to take control.
This is similar to the unreasonable fear people have of flying. Statistically it is far safer than any human driver. Of the hundreds of millions of driverless miles there have only been a handful of accidents and most of them being caused by human drivers screwing up and the driverless car just being on the wrong place at the wrong time. I’d trust a computer of you any day.
Waymo has had 3 accidents where someone was injured, all 3 were caused by the car behind following too close or in 1 case the car behind was speeding. These are insanely safe.
@@zachb1706 ok they May be safe over there but of you come in Italy (my country) you cant use them because people here dont care about laws and also we have bad roads without white signal, no chance in Italy for that car
This is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. I knew driverless cars were getting good but this is over the top. Amazing.
It's amazing tech! Be sure to check out my full analysis video of this if you want to learn more!

Amazing it understands hand signals
For sure!
Excellent we are catching up. I rode in few of them while on business trip in china thought they were the only ones.
That's super interesting! Would love to try Waymo's competitors in the future.

If you're in LA, SF or Phoenix, this is a reality!

@@cheatuser2101I don't think Waymo operates in Italy, although I'd love to hear more about any other self driving companies you guys have over there!
