Here's a follow up to my video about live loops in depth, but this time I use GarageBand in track form to do pre-production of strings and drums, before importing into live loops format.
Enjoy and Subscribe to my channel!
    0:00 introduction
0:40 setting "drummer" to give me a rhythmic recording template
    1:40 recording the string parts
4:35 splitting the string parts to create a mix
7:17 the moment of truth! Playing back the strings..
8:01 exporting the strings ready for opening in live loops - panning, automation, merging, EQ, etc.
11:37 recording drums - creating your own drum rhythms using three tracks for kick, snare and hats, with own sounds
15:45 using the track view to correct timing - note that this is manual, not "quantising of audio"
18:10 applying effects and EQ to my drum sounds before exporting. Also using the NOISE GATE to clean things up!
    21:35 exporting the drums
22:24 opening LIVE LOOPS and importing drums and strings
23:18 adding bass line within live loops
26:00 adding acoustic guitar (two separate parts)
30:10 end of recording - time to perform using the loops
32:45 recording your live loops performance, with editing if needed
    Enjoy!

    Mind blown!💁
Many thanks, I had no idea that this stuff was there (or even existed).
I will need to watch this again and again before moving on.

Hello Dan ... just stumbled upon your tutorials having just purchased and iPad 11 and was curious about exploring Garage Band. Thank you for sharing your passion and craft with the rest of us. Great tutorial! You’ve made live loops simple and easy to understand. And I just love the way English pronounce Garage band. It’s so much more stately and sophisticated than our American way. 😀

Dan, with the help of your video series I am able to understand and use GarageBand. Thanks a lot! Apart from your musical talent you’ve got quite some didactic talent. Wish you all the best and keep up the good work.

Wow Dan - The first video was great - this is like a masterclass in Live Loops! Your method of explaining by showing creative and innovative ways to use the feature on a real song (and the gotchas and workarounds) is super helpful.

Thanks Dan - great video, I really appreciate the notes with the time codes. Have you tried apple’s other free music app called Music Memo? If you have I’d love to hear your take on it.

Great video. Can you advise a couple of reasonable headphones for recording/mixing etc that I can choose from that ear compatible with iPad.
    Many thanks. Tim (Guernsey)

What a challenging instrument a violin is. Due to my ear being extremely far from having accurate pitch, violin was not possible for me. I tried desperately for over a year. I wonder if a violin with frets would make sense. Have fun.

Wouldn’t it be easier to duplicate the voice track multiple times instead of having to add a voice track every time?

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  5 лет назад +4

If you do that, it doesn’t actually change anything except the volume. The basis of doing lots of tracks is that it’s slightly different each time and therefore sounds like more people playing.

Love your stuff Dan Baker, but I swear to gawd the ads do your channel no good. :/

Unfortunately adverts also appear on non-monetized videos. Sorry about the ads getting in the way...
