I immediately disregarded the feature when it released, this is inspiring!
Same here! This will definitely help throwing ideas for various sections and try and mix and match arrangement ideas. Thanks!
It’s funny how when you add a bunch of amp and drum icons to the live loops tracks it doesn’t look as intimidating anymore.
This is a really eye-opening video. Even though I know the loop capabilities are there and I have experimented with them a bit, I hadn't thought of working with loops in this way. Thanks for another great tip!
LPX may rule, but so do you, Chris. This was a brilliant tutorial. Thank you.
Thanks, most clear for the cell's parameters.
Excellent tutorial. Whole new Logic Pro world opens up.
Great for getting down ideas and expanding on them
This is the workflow I've been looking for and didn't know existed.
That’s really helpful, I had never considered using live loops for recording and arranging my own material.
I've been using Logic since 2011 and I learned so much from this video.
I've searched all through RUclips for this video. Thanks!
Excellent eye opening video. As a guitar player I wrongly assumed the live loop tools were just for electronic instruments.
As did I
I've completely forgoten how to use Live Loops 👍😊
Edit 3 days later, great video!
Many thanx man! Really happy somebody explains how to use Live Loops for rock style linear songwriting!! Great!
Your guitar was made by Samick in South Korea in the mid 1980s. They made thousands of les Paul’s and sg under the name hondo, I have a westbury from the same factory. American companies would request which names to have and from a distance Gilbert looked like Gibson. They are fantastic guitars as made almost as well as the Gibsons at a quarter of the price.
I suddenly understood the value of LL in the first 20 seconds. This is fantastic!
Awesome! You explained several features that had been a mystery to me as a conventional track by track producer.
This is exacty what I ahve been looking for...thank you!!
Great video! Now I understand why I should use Live Loops much more!
This video is pure gold. I don't know how you get to put so much info I was looking for in a 15' video. This really is a must for newbie Logic user who wants to capture instruments for his own loops. Thx a lot.
Thanks for this amazing lesson!
Very helpful video. So many things i've learned, thanks you.
Wow! This video is for me a real eye opener, since I’m not into R&B or Hip-Hop, but more into Rock, Soul and Pop.
Thank you so much for this very clear explanation how to use the loopsection. Very inspiring!🙏🏻👍🏼😃
Well done! So helpful. Thank you.
Esto es lo que estaba esperando!!! Supercool!!!
Thank you! Very Helpful hits!
This is really cool! What a great way to record loops and arrange it into a full fledged song.
I've been thinking that this was a possibility for guitar/bass/drums composition, but haven't yet set out to try it. Thanks for not only showing how to do it, but also some really nice right-click options and nuances for using this in a very practical way for guitar, bass, drum composition.
You are so good- thanks! I think I could take weeks of lessons and never learn as much as I’m getting from your channel.
Thank you so much !! absolute inspiration
Might be a cool workflow for songwriting. I’ll give it a try. Thanks for throwing the idea!
Thanks, great video. I did a synth track, worked out really well.
Fabulous! Very helpful, I now geel ready to start poking those boxes... Thank you!
Nice and Easy video to follow. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
just got logic and a new mac M2Pro mini, great vid i will be using these tools in my next project, thanks .
Excellent video. You explained it extremely well at a great pace. Thanks
Perfect video for a rock composer using Logic Pro X. Thanks!
WOW, Great alternate way to record, thinking outside the box.... Thanks
great video. you have a great skill of explaining things so easy to understand
Thanks for the video!
Thanks! This is super helpful!
Wonderful explanation for this marvelous Nle.
Thanks! This is indeed an eye-opening, specially for songwriting.
Very helpful
I’ve watched so many other videos and this one was by far the most simple and easy to follow explanation. Exactly what I was looking for!
Thank you
Exactly the use case I'm looking for, really helped, thanks!
this is fantastic!!
Live Loops is a nice feature. Got a Novation Launchpad Pro Mk3 recently, which is a useful external controller to trigger/manage Live Loops. So much flexibility with this approach. Great video -- thanks Chris!
Novation Launchpad X is the MIDI controller I didn’t know I needed. I resisted getting it, but once I hooked it up, I couldn’t believe how fast I was putting arrangements together. I play keys….but the launchpad X is the center of my workflow. I can’t use Logic Pro without it.
Thanks!
Thanks for this…From my own workflow perspective, this is amazingly helpful.
Great introduction, I learned a lot , (but it is a bit of steal from Session View in Ableton Live). I use this in Logic mainly because of the great way Logic curates apple loops, which beats Ableton hands down, and for me Logic also beats Ableton's Arrange View by miles. But for dance music, Ableton with a cheap midi controller is peerless and utterly intuitive and in the flow.
This was awesome Chris - thanks so much for sharing 🙏🏻🤟
Great video! Thank you for creating and sharing your ideas!
Thanks for this! I've been a bit intimidated to learn this UI, and i'm less electronica based, but this has been a great introduction for standard songwriting usage. The quantizing! Now I see how I could play guitars live, but still have enough simplicity to trigger this near the end of sections to extend my band's live performances. Awesome.
Absolutely superb explanation of the potential of live loops as a tool for composition. Much to think about here and explore. Many thanks.
Great work Chris.
Another way of making the juice. Thanks 😊
Awesome explanation and demo
Great video! There is definitely a lot to consider! Thanks.
Fantastic tutorial. Thank you!
Thank you Chris for sharing this in depth! Yes it was again helpful!
Chris! I just started composing with Live Loops a few weeks ago, but you just showed me so much more potential. Also - you made the drummer (sounds like Kyle) sound pretty realistic in this arrangement and gave me some inspiration. Great stuff!
Awesome to toil and thank you for including the shortcut key strokes they are always helpful keep up the fantastic work
bruh this is fireee
Great video. Any idea on how to start an idea before bar 1 - For example on the upbeat of bar 4?
Gilberts were one of those Japanese "lawsuit era" copies. Made in the same factory as Hondo II and some of Yamaha's guitars. Don't know much more aside from that.
Another excellent video, thank you!
Hey Chris I'm loving this channel. I've learned so much from just a few of your videos .I'm a Logic Pro X user from now on.
Awesome video. Thanks
Great stuff! Thank you!
Flex is really amazing, reason why I come back to Logic all the time. Apple’s nailed it better than other DAW. Cubase is close second.
Thank you man! cool video! a lot of information.
Thanks Chris! This helps a lot.
Super helpful thank you.
outstanding, thank you!
Another great one!
Very educational!
Thanks,!
Thanks
You're the best! Thanks a lot!!!
This is great info, as always.
So helpful !!!
Very nice Chris! Gonna play around and fire all my session players LOL not really but for ideas this is dope
Thanks for showing us this, very helpful. Any chance that scenes iin the same project could have different tempos?
Hey there ! Quick question about performing with Live Loops : how do you manage tempo changes during a performance ? Any tactics or tips ? Thanks Chris !
Chris, how did you get the drums to “choke” or stop on the first drum cell riff in the first scene? I must know!!!! Your channel is awesome, btw.
My guess is by converting the virtual drummer cell to MIDI and editing the performance, but I am interested to learn if there is another way!
Awesome. Thank you for this.
Any tutorials on how to make a multi screen/multi take music video where one person is playing all the instruments and/or singing as well ?
THANX!!!!!!!
I hope Cubase integrate this!
I am performing with live loops and it's so freakin cool, will be doing more and more of it, I have a question, how can I manipulate FX live with a midi controller while triggering loops?
You can just move any fader/knob as you're triggering loops. If you want to manipulate only SPECIFIC tracks just make sure that track is selected while you're triggering the loop. OR you can also set each track to a specific MIDI channel and make sure your MIDI controller is outputting on the same MIDI channel. Only tracks with the same MIDI channel will be manipulated/affected.
Great! This is your best video ever. What notes did you play on the guitar?
So besides playing loops together from different columns, what else might be the advantage to working this way? Trying to see what benefits it might have.
This video nailed it man. Thank you.
Is there a way to eliminate the popping sound caused by quantizing stems? I've noticed this problem after quantizing guitars. Loved the video!
yup that sucks . not sure why apple did not add a sample offset control along with the loop controls with each segment , so to avoid using quantise at all. finding it difficult to keep nudging samples in its editor due to no such offset control being present. this is also a problem in MPC Akai. offset does not exist.
Apple plc should really be thanking you
this reminds me of one another DAW cant remember name...
Can you select different cells from all 3 of them in different areas due them up and record? I like this approach. I never messed with the live loops area but honestly it seems like you can really be more creative. Thanks great information.
a quick comment I found on "Gilbert Les Paul" guitars - two versions exist from this comment ..... - "Gilberts are indeed plywood and hollow…. if made by the folks who made memphis. gilberts were also made by the same factory as hondo II, yamaha, etc. looking at the headstock shape and inlays can show who made them. the hondo/yamaha ones are heavier and made with better wood than the ones made by memphis. very groovy guiltars. the later ones, like hondos, had dimarzios stock. the earlier ones had the “fake” buckers with a large single couil inside a humbucker shell. they appear to have come thru a small importer in jersey in the mid 70’s and are crazy rare to find. i own 3 of the 5 i’ve seen in my 57 years. don’t confuse these with the PAUL GILBERT “gilbert” les pauls, those were made by yamaha and unbranded, he added his name to them… they were set neck, not bolt on. one of my favorite “unknown” guitar brands of all time."
Gems!
