    Using Logic from more than 20 years I found that there are no limits to the hidden power offered by this great piece of software. The quantize possibilities are just awesome. I've used also other daws and I can assure that there are no reason to go around, Logic have infinite power in many fields, from midi, to audio to mixing...and the workflow design remain the best out there in perfect Apple concept. Long life to Logic Pro
    Thanks for your precious channel :)

    As a pianist for pop music, smart quantizing is the greatest find in history. I didn't know about it until this video. Thank you. But it messes up the sustain pedals positions. I had lots of weird places where the notes lingered too long or cut off too soon.
    I solved the problem by going into score mode and moving them around. Much easier to eyeball them there. Once I fixed those, the part sounds FANTASTIC. All my natural playing got right into alignment with my drum track.

    great explanation of Q-range. The combo of Q-range and Q-strength can be nice natural approach as well. I wish Q-range worked on transient markers for audio, but I don't find that it works. Maybe you could do a tutorial on how to apply Q-range to transients in audio, if you can figure it out!!! LOL!!

    Thanks for sharing this video on Quantizing! I was familiar with most of the features, but learned about some that I never considered using (Quantize Strength; Quantize Velocity). Will have to experiment w those parameters to see how they fit into my workflow.
    There was one parameter that I thought you'd discuss in here, which was the Delay parameter. It's the "Nudge" feature except divisions are by ticks. I only RECENTLY learnt about this, and it's great when I'm trying to get the "feel" just right. And having the delay moved ever so much can enhance the groove within a track. Again, thanks for sharing with us your tips and tricks. Appreciated here!

    I’m creating new vocals over an old jazz standard and have imported the original track into my Logic project to use as the foundation. But since it was recorded on the 50’s, I’ve been running into lots of click and timing issues. So I watched this video to then make a groove template based around the drums that I’ve extracted from the recording. But there was no quantize area in the region menu for that track. What am I doing wrong?

    THXXX for this! BUT I didn't see a solution to my problem in this vid. I played my piano without listening to metronome (set at 108) and the performance had nothing to do with this tempo. My "freestyle" playing also created fluctuating tempos. sigh Any help for this?

    I'm trying to figure out a way to use Smart Tempo as a basic "auto" audio quantize. I've seen a guy record a tambo at about 87bpm... and when he stops Logic corrects it to the current tempo of 120. However, it says there can be nothing else playing. The Automatic setting in the manual states it with use either KEEP or ADAPT... depending if anything else is playing. Can't figure it out. Seems Apple might have handicapped it to work only w/o the metronome or other tracks playing. Not sure why they would do that. Seems like it could be a powerful tool... like when we record building a track... and the parts (like guitar chords held out) are very close to good to begin wtih. Thanks

    I came to Logic after yrs of using Digital Performer. DP can quantize a whole performance with a + or - offset….i.e. behind the beat or ahead of the beat and you can set the amount….is this possible in Logic’s quantize?

    Q-Flam needs to have a setting where it performs the opposite, so the lowest notes stay put and the higher notes get "flam" and adjusted. Is there a way to do this? There MUST be a way to do this.

  • @whatsupchicken
    @whatsupchicken 2 месяца назад

    How can I quantize the end of the notes?

  • @Rockstarsf
    @Rockstarsf Месяц назад

    Can you use Q-Flam on selected notes? Or does the whole region have to be quantized or smart quantized to utilize it? Sometimes I’ll have a software instrument playing chords and leads in the same region.

    • @Rockstarsf
      @Rockstarsf Месяц назад

      Apparently, the advanced parameters apply to the whole region…so the workaround is use smart quant or use separate regions/software instrument tracks for leads.

  • @michaelneal900

    It's not a popular idea amongst logic users, but logics quantizing system isn't particularly good. After extensive work with it, in some cases it doesn't even work as described or projected. Numerous times after trying several quantize variations, then undoing or turning it off, it did not correctly return notes to original unquantized positions.

    Quantize is cheating folks ... in my opinion..& I emphasize opinion !
    Due to boundaries, or lack of ( in my opinion).. in what is composing,and what is letting the robot think for you..I was told in some of the new sequencers..You cannot turn of the robot( the Q factor) lol
    I will say for time management on PRE demos is it an awesome thing..especially if your consuming alcohol ( the last legal drug) lmao...
    Moderation is the key right?
    I'm done here...I'm officially too old & analog man ,& note ,,digi storage ,is a good thing ,,,in my opinion..

    • @MonsieurVersatile
      @MonsieurVersatile 2 года назад

      So you never use any tools or techniques to enhance a performance? No edits, vocal comps, double tracking, adding artificial reverb, no click or metronome to aid timekeeping, no compression to even out volume levels? Presumably these are also ‘cheating’?
