I wish people would understand that a nonbinary person doesn’t have to use they/them pronouns
Question if a person views themselves as non binary what does that have to do with the rest of society? For example the person in the views says she is non binary. She clearly looks like a woman right? If I started speaking to her why would her being non binary need to come up at all? I would personally have predetermined mindset on that this is a woman I'm speaking to. All of this binary none binary talk is unnecessary and pointless
@@pound4pound380 We're not expecting you to know right off the bat that we don't identify as either male or female. If I'm speaking to someone and they address me as female, I will kindly tell them that I don't identify as that and inform them of my identity. I won't make a big deal out of it and throw a fit. I'll just let them know. If they don't respect that I understand and I'll just go about my day. As for what that has to do with society, it's just the basic respectful thing to do to respect someone's identity. If you don't want to do that, I'm not going to force you.🤷🏽♂️
No one cares about anyone else "being non binary"

"it is okay to look like one of the binary genders and still be a valid non-Binary person." this is a good quote, because I am genderfluid (assigned male at birth) although I would look more androgynous if I could get away with it...

Fun fact btw, autism and being nonbinary come hand in hand alot of the time. Like for me :D

No such thing as genderfluid or non binary. You're either male or female, regardless of how you "feel" about it ;)
I'm brain in meatsuit. Therefore I am fine with it pronoun but people often are okay with "they" and bluntly refuse to call me "it". And yes! Nearing my 50th birthday, I'm one of your older viewers.

This world would be a much better place if we all just respected one another, and with that comes respecting one's pronouns, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.
It's the world we get to work at building.
This is a sick workd
I agree, if only...
here in Brazil, there is some sort of 'joke' that changes the words and put 'e' on the end to make fun of neutral pronouns and say "cadê o banheiro dos não binários??" (where's the non binary bathroom?) in an ironic tone. I wish people knew that we are not a joke, and that neutral pronouns are as much important as other ones are, I wish that they (cis people) knew that we're not just a joke, that we are real people and that if it 'was just a joke', we wouldn't pass through so much bad things for it.
sorry if I misspelled some word or wrote something wrong, English is my second language (I'm not fluent either )
+ I hope I didn't make it sounds like Brazil is somehow bad because of this, I just pointed this 'joke' because it looks similar to the one you talked about in the video
I'm trying hard to imagine non-binary/trans bathrooms in the favelas.
I was asked recently from my cishet friend about LGBTQ+ topics, such as demigirl/demiboy, demisexual, and demiromantic. We did research (I'm not enby but I am demiromantic) and ended up learning a lot together. Just felt like sharing 'cause it made me happy. Also, happy Nonbinary Awareness Week!
I have always felt like I should have been born female, but I don't feel the need to medically transition. I wear discreet women's clothes, and I hate my facial hair and body hair-- that is the worst it gets. I probably come across to people as gay because I still look male, but I'm attracted to women. All sorts of nonbinary, and I'm 50 years old.
I feel ya on the hair thing lol. I HATE having hair on my arms and stuff. I present andro because I've always had those features. Only recently have people outside my circle noticed. I get a mix 60\40 of being called her and him.
what you described is autogynophilia - you are still a binary - you are male who likes to cross dress as a paraphilia
I lived most of my life as a cis woman, until the pandemic lockdown when I had to spend a lot of time in my own head. I am fem passing - most people assume I'm cis, but I'm nonbinary/genderqueer, and I have been most of my life. I was that "tomboy" during childhood who wanted to wear boy clothes and had boy hobbies. I go by she/they pronouns now, but I still dress "like a guy". Jeans and nerdy t-shirts mostly. I value comfortability without concerning myself about what gender I "come across as". I don't wear makeup, but I keep my hair kinda long and feminine. It's a mixed bag of presentation. Really depends the situation I'm going into. If I'm going to an important event I will dress more traditionally feminine in order to "fit in", but it's more of societal masking than being true to myself.
...Just me here; but AFAB nonbinary? I bought a used black suit.
...I feel so d@mn good in that suit.
Mileage may vary.
I ended up here bc I’m dating a NB person and I just wanted more understanding. Thank you for the openness !!
How do you even date a "nonbinary" propagator? What is the sexual asignment? Are you alien sexual or what? It can not work when one person propagates this non binary bullshit.
Speaking of names, do your octopus friends on your desk have names? They're both quite adorable! Also, a part two would be amazing! Thank you, as always, for another good video =)
I'm not non-binary, but I'm ftm trans and enjoy learning more about the non-binary community so I can support and understand you all as much as possible, especially since I used to think I was enby before realizing I'm binary transgender! Thank you Lynn for educating people all around the world about various identities, I've learned a lot from you about both being non-binary and asexuality (I'm sexuality questioning but almost certain I'm ace-spec btw, and you were one of the people who helped me discover and come to terms with it, so I'm really grateful for that). You contribute to making this world a better, more accepting, loving place ♥️
Happy non-binary awareness week everyone! Please always remember, if you feel like you don't fit in with the rest, you may be right, but that's beautiful. It's perfectly valid not to "be like the others." In fact, it doesn't mean you're "weird" in a negative sense; it means you're unique, and that's something to be proud of. Sending y'all virtual hugs 🫂
I kind of like that non-binary can also be a safe umbrella to shelter under for people while they figure themselves out.
Some visit; some move in.🤗
@@grmpEqweer Exactly! The term "non-binary" isn't very specific, so many questioning people will call themselves that before figuring out the details. And as you said, some visit, some move in, and whether your stay is a day long or lifelong, it's valid!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge I am learning a lot. My 'son' has recently told me that they are non binary and want to present as a trans woman. Lots to learn for sure. Nothing but love from me so it's helpful to know and understand their identity.
After reading through, some really ignorant and transphobic stuff from some parents in some comment sections on RUclips, this is incredibly wholesome. Affirmation from loved ones is always something amazing. See out there in the wide world. We can try to keep friends that understand us but, family understanding us is so important because we're around family all the time and it's so much better to get support than push back. I wish you the very best on your journey with your child
So I'm on the part where you talk about non-binary being an umbrella term, and I quite like the definition set in the Gender Census. Not being a woman or a man is the short version, but to really be able to describe more accurately what being non-binary may mean is to say that we are people who do not solely, completely, and always identify as either a man or a woman. Full credits to Cassian, and if you're non-binary, go ahead and take a look and maybe take part in next year's gender census!

Thank you for making this amazing video. I hope it will save some trouble for other enbies!
Yay, I'm in the video!
I think everyone made really great points, especially that nonbinary people can present in a ton of different ways and still be nonbinary. If a cis woman shops in the men's section and has a buzzcut, she's still a woman. If a cis man wears makeup and paints his nails, he's still a man. Why would it be any different for trans and nonbinary people?
CONGRATS ON HITTING 20K SUBS OMG 💖💖💖
I'm a trans guy. I don't hate Non-binary people. I just think binary and non-binary trans people would benefit from being two different communities that work as friends but I believe each group has different experiences which get lost under such a broad umbrella.
What I understand under Trans-Non-Binary is a person, that can't identify with their ASAB (experiencing gender dysphoria and body dismorphia) , but not with their opposite sex either. Making them neither a Trans-Woman, nor a Trans-Man, but rather a Trans-Nonbinary-person (in short Trans-NB)
I don't know if I am a boy or non-binary, like yes i was born as a boy but i don't like being a normal boy wearing strong man types of clothes and feeling masculine either feeling feminine, i wanted to feel somewhere like outer of it, anyways i always like to wear clothes no matter from what style or category it is, i just mixed it and make it into my own new style that makes me feel like myself. I do feel masculine a bit because i was born as a boy, but i feel out of binary. i like being unnatural, does it mean i am a non-binary?
It can mean you're nonbinary, but that's for you to decide. For me it's that I feel kinship with woman. I don't just have empathy and understanding like I feel sisterhood with women a lot of the time. So for me nonbinary made sense. For me it's mostly a man but also part woman. It's kind of funny though cuz I had to try the label to see if it fit me. It wasn't until I started identifying that it really started to feel like it could be me.
I'm here, have been waiting for this video.
So well said. Thank you so much.
I would love a part 2!
So much good stuff. Happy nonbinary awareness week.
Hey @Lynn Saga, I feel like I might be a nonbinary trans person but don't know.. Any ways to know for certain? Like I can say I don't want to be cisgender as just being 100% male just bugs me.. Like it feels like something I'm not and adds pressure in a way to be something the world says I can be or can't be and I don't want that for myself. I feel like I do want to be a girl and have had thoughts all my life of wanting to be a girl though.
Like the reason we refer to old pronouns as dead pronouns is because we have become anew and to use the dead pronouns feels like an inescapable cage since people will already assume that you are either a man or a woman based on what they see it like being locked in the closet again and having the key be thrown away. So this is why we hate when someone uses the dead pronouns.
Really helpful video! Highlighted some of my own underlying prejudices I guess from society labelling non-binary & trans identities as a mainly youth centred trend. NB folks have always been around just without the language or platform that has been morphed into an only recognised as binary system, so suffocating/
I use to be girly and identify as a women but recently started to kinda question my gender identity but I don’t know yet I need time
Clue. A woman is a female human, not a 'girly' human.
My space is trans / nonbinary. On a scale of one to ten with ten as female I am a 7. I wanted all 3 mtf surgeries but due to health and money I only had an orchiectomy. Fortunately being more male physically is more tolerable to me than to some others. But it is a disappointment. I try to explain to people I am a transwoman but not very girly girl. I don't think they get it. This is a good explanation. Thank you for posting.
Hii how old are you?
Good luck because your liver, brain and pancreas are gendered, no matter how much you pretend they are not. How dare I say that? Well, because I am a woman who is sick from my body making too much testosterone and I speak from experience.
Does anyone else obsess about getting the exact right androgynous haircut?

You are and will always be valid love your channel you are such a lovable good person non binary people are valid you don't deserve to be misgendered we need more non binary representation in the media
Genuine question: Is demigender more on the umbrella term for transgender, or more a part of the nonbinary? I know that, hopefully it’s correct, that agab doesn’t matter related to the demigender label, and I not everyone will use the transgender or nonbinary identity who uses the label demigender, but I’m just not exactly sure what umbrella term it falls into.
Generally demigender people identify as being under the nonbinary label, but it depends on the person and their individual identity. Also, it's totally possible for demigenders to be counted as under BOTH the nonbinary and trans umbrellas. It's more of a pie chart, rather than separate labels
Well I identify as a demiboy but I feel like I'm neither cis or trans, or sometimes I feel like both, so I don't know.
If I need a one word description that comes close to my gender identity it would be demi-girl. (Trans demi girl, though how far transitioning goes depends on $ and getting access in Alabama in the U.S. (very southern U.S. conservative state)) I'm very much non-binary, I just feel an affiliation with the feminine enough I don't see myself as not fem. Tldr: demigender people can be non-binary, trans, or both.
Labels don't define us, just describe us.
I watched many videos about this topic and i still dont understand 😢
is it easier to become androgynous overall starting out as male or female?
I guess it depends on the persons body type.
Eyy
I'm a demi-guy, which falls under the enby umbrella, and i use They/He pronouns. Really informative video and i agreed with every point.
👌💖✨️
I wish more people would understand that not every non-binary person “looks” androgynous or just uses they/them. They can use whatever pronouns and use multiple (they/she, he/it, xir/her/they, etc). Imo, to restrict them to use only they/them defeats the whole point of being nonbinary. I look like a woman, but I still identify as Demifem/Demifin

0:59 I think you were basically explainig more like genderfluid than non binary but now I'm not sure
I keep trying to post a comment that doesn't tell my life story but here we go. I liked cooking, cleaning, sewing and took early learning activities at rec center for tap dancing, gymnastics, balaua, swimming. I was born amab in the very early 90's I have ADHD, possibility of high end of autism, I am non-binary pan, was shoved into special ed class, I was sexually abused, had life saving operation with my reproductive organs which didn't remain intact, I was raped by baby sitter 30 year old son, I was nearly choked to death by baby sitter. I had a principle choke me right after for kicks and was laughing while doing it like a pyschopath. till I punched her in the face was sent to another school for the school to avoid legal actions and they blamed my disability. I grew up in a broken home with abusive divorced parents which would gaslight me about any abuse claiming I was lying and beat the ever living out of me. I attempted suicide multiple times. I faced ablism more than not, and the old school and new school found out about the sexual abuse and instead of being supportive like you would think they would be no. They shouted slurs at me and would make fun of me for being gay despite those things happening were not by my choice at all, I was raped. On a side note I did know I was gay at that time because I was actually going out with another boy not from my school, which is why I was raped. My mother was telling everyone my personal business including that life saving operation and rape when dropped off at school one day. But when ever I brought up the rape she would accuse me of lying for attention again. She would spread those rumors to scare away any and all potential friends.
The only friends I kinda made who were shitty friends who spread those rumors at the schools, and only pretended to be friendly with me to get dirt on me to then throw it in my face. This happened to a lot of people in special ed. That old school principle that choked me yeah she did it to most of the people in special ed as well. It was so bad that if you got called down to the office and you were in a special ed class you knew what was about to happen, and if you resisted one of the principles aids would pick you up by either your throat, a presure point on the back of your neck and slam you into a wall and then dragged you down to the office with fake nails scratching into you intentionally. They would justify this abuse with you're just a fucking (r slur). Except for me because they knew about those sexual assaults/rape and didn't give two fucks would add (f slur) because rumors spread truth or lie so long as its negative. All of this happened before I was the age of 9 so far. After I was sent to another school I did still face ablism, but the new school didn't abuse me nearly as much. Junior high my principle there was friends with the abusive physcopath I had to deal with from k-3 so more ablism, and homophobic abuse. Followed by false accusations any time any thing went wrong. I one time had her accuse me of collaborating with someone to start a food fight because we had similar last names when the person in question had missed 2 weeks of school and was planning on moving and on his last day before leaving started a food fight. Keep in mind litterally everyone knew about the food fight because rumors. Even the staff knew, they were prepared which is why it only lasted 30 seconds and the table they stormed first was my table, which isn't even where it started but where everyone with a disablity was told to sit while all the normies sat where ever they liked, except our table. The first thing they did was grab all of us and accuse us of starting it despite almost everyone cramming them selves under the tables to not get hit by food. Yes this is how they treated us.
So you dealt with your trauma and gayness by cutting off your penis?
i agree cuz im nonbinary but i use (they/she) pronouns and i look like a “female” but im not 5:54

How Gender stereotyping or personality become gender ?
gender identity refers to the way your sexual dimorphism impacts your brain, your psychology, and your self perception.
idk why you confuse it with stereotypes and personality.
You don't look nonbinary
No one does, because that doesn't exist.
@@maxxam3590omg!I don't exist!!!!
@@maxxam3590where did I go!!!
@@Theiran_white_squirrel You do exist. Your identity doesn't. The identity of "non binary" does not exist because, like anything else that doesn't exist, the very concept points to something that isn't real.
@@maxxam3590 Sir madam or other, the fundamental concept of "things people made up that is nonetheless useful" permeates our society to the point where that argument loses any meaning. And people are nonbinary, if it makes them happy to be considered as such and to consider themselves as such.

HERMAPHROBITES ??????????????????????

First you have to define exactly what you mean by man and woman in terms of 'gender' and what makes them 'binary'. And if 'gender' is a spectrum how can there be a 'binary' in the first place? Illogical, nonsensical and nothing but garden variety sex stereotyping.
I wish people would understand that being NB is basically being an, 'it.' Prove me wrong and i might change my mind
It implies nonhuman. It's a bit objectifying. I am still a person, just not a boy or girl.
@riley3087 your still a person yes, but you can't be NB. It's like saying that tomatoes can be cucumbers . I'm not judging just confused on why you wanna be well nothing
@@ExCuriousKitsuneChshire Somebody can be NB. It just means not a boy or girl. The example you gave was of two different plants entirely, implying that Enbies are simply not human. That is literally not possible. And I don't want to be nothing. I just am nothing. I do not consider myself a sir or ma'am, I am no he nor she. I do not aim to be masculine or feminine. The Idea that someone would understand me as a man or woman is an Idea that brings me great stress. I, and most others areNB because the binary alternatives are simply inaccurate to how we feel.
I never said that they weren't human, I am saying that how can you be nothing while you psychically have a body? If ur neither then your either A. Nothing or B. an alien. (Not to used in the term immigrant) also if your NB, then you would have your top part of your chest cut off and your bottom part either hacked or scalped off, then well ill be you are NB. But if you keep your body as it is then you are clearly a man or a woman.
@riley3087 also if your nothing, great but nothings don't tell people what they are. For they can not because well they are again nothing. I understand you are nothing but until you lose your top and bottom half I gotta see you as a person. So if uour not gonna tell people who you really are, then please don't tell people to say it's OK to be nothing as a human being.
The syllogism "I am a biological male; I feel like I'm a biological female; therefore, I'm a biological female" is not logically sound because it commits the fallacy of equivocation.
The term "biological male" refers to a person who has male reproductive organs and chromosomes, while "biological female" refers to a person who has female reproductive organs and chromosomes. However, in the second premise, the term "feel like a biological female" is not well-defined and may mean different things to different people. It could refer to gender identity, which is a subjective experience of feeling like a man or a woman, or it could refer to gender expression, which is the way in which a person presents themselves in society.
Thus, the argument equivocates on the meaning of "biological female," and the conclusion does not follow logically from the premises. The conclusion is not supported by the premises because feeling like a biological female does not change a person's biological sex. While gender identity is an important aspect of a person's self-concept and should be respected, it is distinct from biological sex and should not be confused with it.
The clarity of your detailed explanation is like a lighthouse beam in the mist.
I know they are all weirdos.
