    Funimation didn’t animate DBZ, Toei and other studios in Japan animated it. The Anime ended in Japan 1/31/96 then aired in America after. Funimation just did the voice acting in English and censoring for tv broadcast. The dvds are uncensored and better English dub.

    I'm from Costa Rica, and DBZ premiered aroudn 1997 and 1998, luckily for us and the rest of Latin America we got the dub done in Mexico by "Intertrack" which in used the original Japanese script and did a very fateful translation (and very little to no censorship in dialogue and action) to the point that unless where nostalgia is involved, the fans from Spain usually prefer or accept the superiority of the dub we got in Latin Spanish than theirs Castellan Spanish version.
    And the dubbing actor who plays adult Goku from the classic Dragon Ball's 23th Budokai Tenkaichi and all throughout DBZ and GT (on SSJ4), and DBZ Kai (but only the Buu Saga) named Mario Castañeda, , is arguably ours generations most famous voice actor in anime giving his voice also to characters like the original McGiver, Tony Stark/Iron Man on the 90’s cartoon, Sea Dragon Kanom from Saint Seiya, Hank Pym on Avengers EMH, Captain Planet as the Captain himself, Futurama’s Zapp Brannigan, The Mask from the Cartoon, Jim Carry on most of his 90’s movies like Lair Liar, The Grinch, Bruce Willis on most of his 80’s and 90’s movies like Die Hard, Armageddon, Mark Ruffalo/Hulk on the MCU, among and avalanche of characters. And to top it all his son Arturo is the voice for Latin America of Whis since Battle of the Gods onwards.

    *Funimation doesn’t animate anything. Funimation is a dubbing company in the US. Toei animated DBZ in Japan in ‘89. All Funimation did was take the video that was already drawn and finished and record English voices over it and gave it all new soundtrack.

      you're tripping man, you probably watched the original dub, where they replayed scenes over and over. that kai fight is just as good as Cell vs Goku

  • @atsushiproductions
    @atsushiproductions 5 месяцев назад

    4:51 Personally if we’re talking dub, I still prefer original DBZ over Kai. As long as I’m watching the the 90s video of it and not the terrible HD remaster of it Funimation keeps throwing out there. Obviously Kai will technically be better than Kai since they pretty much did everything right, it’s still the little things that make OG a better show. I personally think that the most of the voice actors were at their peak back then but ig to each his own. Also I’ve watched both DBZ and Kai in sub and the script and the voice acting is almost exactly the same. It’s just the dub that was significantly different.

    I think I'm in the minority who wants the anime filler. I still love the manga.

    • @KallmeKnicK
      @KallmeKnicK  5 месяцев назад +1

      I love the filler episodes. Stuff like Gohan training in the wilderness and the days leading up to the Cell games. What kills me is the drawn out stares of nothing happening, and charging for an extra 2 minutes at a time, and how they'll cutaway from fights to show nothing happening somewhere else.

    0:23 garbage dub

  • @atsushiproductions
    @atsushiproductions 5 месяцев назад

    Also if you watch DBZ in sub it’s a lot closer to the manga, obviously minus the filler. You never mentioned that. The dub is obviously going to be a lot different cause it’s a translation plus a script change. Back in the 90s the US wanted to make DBZ look more like a kid friendly cartoon than a violent foreign series. The ocean dub was a great example of this. Either way, it’s called an anime adaptation for a reason. And every time the story is translated and adapted, the story and events will steer further away from its original meaning.
