Here's a little secret to avoid egg shell in the your eggs. Crack the eggs on a flat surface instead of the edge of the pan. The edge breaks off pieces of the shell and drives them through the inner membrane and into the egg. If you crack in on a flat surface the shell cracks like a windscreen on a car, with the inner membrane intact. Then just push your fingers into the crack and the egg will split open without any egg shell falling into your breakfast. Looks like winter has arrived in east Austria. Looking forward to hearing about your first overnight-er in your new shelter.

      *****
Very true, but it sure does ruin a nice breakfast of eggs and bacon.

Here is a nice list of things you can do with egg shells. My favorite is to add them to your ground coffee. The acid in the coffee leaches the Ca out and adds it to your coffee and it also removes some of the bitterness, if that is a problem for you. www.theprairiehomestead.com/2012/08/9-things-to-do-with-eggshells.html

***** so is bone but I don't think I'll be adding a femur to my next meal. Silly notion that one would want egg shell in their breakfast.

***** right bc egg shells are the only thing on the planet that contain calcium, well done. Was it egg shells your were looking for in that ditch you hid in while in Iraq, James?

Hello from Canada, Lilly. I love watching all your videos. I am one who enjoys spending as much time as I can in the bush. I enjoy the wildlife and have been blessed to have had close encounters with bears, bald eagles, snowshoe hares, foxes and more. I listened to an elder native who once told me " talk to the animals of the forest. They will hear you and respect you" I have never been harmed nor threatened by any wild creature in all my time spent in the woods. Anyway, I wondered if you have ever tried bannock? I have seen it made several times on RUclips but I have yet to see it made properly. Everyone I saw show them kneading the bannock recipe. The proper way is to fold the ingredients to create air bubbles in the mixture and then pour into the container you are going to cook it in. Instead of coming out dense it will have a more bread like texture. Keep the videos coming, Lilly. All the best

You can also wrap the dough around a wooden stick like a cork screw and put the stick leaning over the fire at a 45 degree angle with the dough over the coals. You just have to rotate the stick to cook the dough evenly.

I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing Lilly!

No need for the olive oil ... Bacon makes it's own grease :).

Olive oil is not supposed to be heated that hot. It is only supposed to be used warm to drizzel. A chemical reaction happens to olive oil when it gets too hot (such as during frying) and it actually becomes unhealthy to consume. Oils that are best for frying are vegetable, sesame, peanut, canola, etc. Besides, bacon makes its own delicious grease!

Too many people get in a bad situation an find out the hard way that it's not as easy as it looks.
My Aunt died recently and had retired from the U.S State department and she lived in Austria for 10 year's, She said other than America Austria was the most beautiful country she had ever visited. She had 40 years in the field and had visited over 150 countries so that is saying something about her Love for Austria

    Some Thoughts From A Novice.
    Hello Lilly,
Should you make a carved wooden fork and leave it at your camp site. Try heating the oil first and them adding the bacon.

    Great video and breakfast
One of the tricks I sometimes used was if my fire reflector was wood and they weren't overly wet I rotated the wood in it and used that as my fire wood to generate some initial heat while the wetter wood heated and dried by the fire
    Looked a beautiful morning
    Happy trails

Once I had to find shelter in about 20 degrees and a few inches of snow. I walked down into a canyon with drop off on one side and hill on the other. Finally I saw a tree like yours that was dry underneath, but on slanted ground. I had a useless sleeping bag, a shower curtain, and my coat, I was sliding down hill. I climbed in the bag atop my shower curtain with my coat over my head to hold in heat.
Then the noises began. I could only make out directions, but not what. Was it a wild animal? Or a person? The more I listened the more scared I got. Finally, after about 20 minutes more (around midnight) I was rescued!

Haha! And awesome, using a pair of twigs as chopsticks!
Just out of curiosity, you don't mind taking tools like axes, hand saws, and tarps; and you keep a large bow saw pre-positioned at the site. And of course the fire starting kit you keep with you. Why not carry a field chow utensil kit as a regular item? I have a metal spoon and chopsticks that take virtually no space or weight.
