    Clean install, for the average joe, you don’t need the steering wheel controls. I’ve installed a pioneer double din without the steering wheel controls, frankly its easier to use the head unit. If your head unit is blue tooth enabled, then it should also be voice activated under owner programmer. Where you basically say a command then the head unit should act accordingly.

      I did use the orange/white wire but does not work on this harness. You need to run that wire to either the headlight switch or even the hazard light switch above the radio. It's how ford wired their cars so no real dim wire is on the harness. I did not use the blue to blue for the antenna, I simply used the antenna adapter, if you do have a "power" antenna then you may need to use the blue wire.
      As for the radio turning off when you turn thr car off and remove the key, that's just how they are wired. To allow you to listen to the radio for about 10 min +/-. Then it shuts off or until you open your door. Best way around this if you really don't like that is to wire the ignition red wire to the fuse box where it kills power when you turn off the car.

Also im using a metra interface harness that supposed to retain steering wheel controls but its not programming. And can u tell me what the little harness on the back that has a solid black wire with red and yellow clip is? Its the one that plugged into my factory radio. What is that used for?

    If I do not use the adapter to get the steering wheel controls to work will the ones on the left side still work . I understand all the controls on the right side are for the stereo however like for example the info button for the dashboard itself I don't care if I have controls for the stereo itself from the steering wheel. I just don't want it to tell me I need to change my oil forever next time I need a oil change..

    • @esqu3l3to

      all the other steering wheel controls will work as they do, replacing your radio will not affect that. unless you have additional features from your car that are displayed or controled on the oem radio it wont be an issue not getting the steering wheel adapter.

      You dont need an additonal ground wire since you will not be installing the steering wheel contol module.

      @@esqu3l3to Sorry for not responding earlier. My responses somehow were not posted. I do not have an adapter harness. I was going to wire them directly to the wires themselves to the new harness. I have connected the wires to their appropriate matches with the battery to red/white, ground to black/blue, and the speakers to their corresponding wire colors. But I have not connected the 12V ACC wire to anything, I tried connecting it to the grey/violet wire but the radio did still not turn on. There are a couple wires left that I do not know what they are for: Yellow/Green, Grey/Violet, White/Blue, and Grey/Yellow. I might have to tap the 12V ACC wire into the cigarette lighter, but in a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid I believe the lighter is always on. And it needs to come on with ignition. I am still trying to find answers. Thanks for helping and your quick response.

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  2 года назад

      I dont know the position of all the wires. However, it would be best to use a multimeter to determine which is your acc wire. Do not use the cigg lighter. I highly suggest getting an adapter harness, makes it so much easier and not having to splice into the oem harness unless you already know all the wiring clolors.

    • @joshuaclaibourn9847
      @joshuaclaibourn9847 2 года назад

      @@esqu3l3to Yes, that probably would have been the best. It turns out that a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid does not have an ACC wire, and uses CamBus to communicate with the radio. Also, the cigarette lighter is always on, so I have been told that the solution at this point is to fusetap a fuse that comes on with ignition and link that to the 12V ACC wire. Thanks for all your help. I'm surprised you even responded on a two year old video.

    I checked with Best Buy auto stereo site. It confused me. It shown all compatible radio units available - 1 din and 2 din for my Fusion.
    I think all these audio units have the same wire configuration. So, Best Buy shown all these 1-din, 2-din choices.
    Am I correct to say the default Fusion radio (&CD) unit is a 2-din unit?
    If I choose a 1-din, then I will have a hard time to patch up the empty space that surround this 1-din replacement unit. Correct?

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  3 года назад

      Well they are not incorrect, your Ford can fit a single (1) din radio which is the typical small radio. The double din (2 din) is what ford installed tho it's bigger that aftermarket radios. For you to install either radio you will need a dash kit, this allows for the install into your Ford. If you choose a single din radio then you would need to make sure the dash kit is for a single din - this is because the kit will include a pocket that will take the rest of the space below the radio. Here is an example, this other Ford I installed a single din....
      ruclips.net/video/TygoA4dMpeg/видео.html
      Or you can get a double din like in this video - you will still need a dash kit for a double din. As for the harness, all new radios have their own but yo make the install simple get an adapter harness like I did for this install. Hope this helps. If you need any other help email me at melvingbp@shaw.ca

But a 2-din should "fit" better. I pick ones that are available in Best Buy because they offer installation. Armed with you info (that I will need dash kit), I called Best Buy. They told me I have to get the dash kit plus the harness beside the JVC unit (2-din) or Sony (1-din). I setup my appointment already. Thank you for the tips.

    • @esqu3l3to

      Two main reasons, to avoid a ground loop (noise, static or interference) and some components require a chassis ground to function properly. Some vehicles, like my previous Nissan I had to ground the radio wire to chassis as the factory of the harness did not allow the unit to work properly.

    What wire did you connect the pink and brown wire to?, im having trouble figuring that out

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  4 года назад +1

      Ok so, first you need to re-pin the pink wire to positions #19 on the adapter harness. Once you have done that, the pink wire along with the ASWC-1 (or wichever adapter you are using) will need to be grounded (shasis). The brown wire of the adapter harness (pin #18) needs to be connected to the white/green wire of the ASWC-1.
      Here is the wiring diagram so it makes more sense:
