The Highland Park 18 is $139 in my area too and it' been sitting on the shelf for months getting dusty. For $139, I think I can find a better Scothch with a bit more ABV - at least 46%. Glen Scotia Victoriana for one.

Agreed .... It's pretty good stuff, but that price opens up a lot of other options. Cheers Mark!

The 18 is $139 in my area, and the 12 is $65. I haven't tried either one but have been eyeing the 18. Generally, I try to stay under $100 excluding tax. I do enjoy the Oban 14, which sits around $95.

Have enjoyed your channel and videos, which I just discovered. HP 12 is a scotch I very recently purchased which has actually made me like scotch after some aborted previous attempts (bourbon guy here). I agree that it has multiple things going on which make it intriguing & worth the investment for a newbie to Scotch. Love the delicate experience - for me- it offers. Like you say in some of your other videos, it's only the taste that matters at the end/who cares? The Viking stuff is sorta cool but sorta cringey too for some- count me in the it's cool camp (Scotch Marketing Wars). Skol!

Thanks Rob … glad you enjoy the videos, it’s always nice to hear positive feedback. Happy to hear you are enjoying the HP 12 … it is a very enjoyable dram. I’m totally cool with the Viking theme also …. I guess it was that I had moved away from HP for a few years and when I came back to revisit the brand I was a little discombobulated by all the new buzz words and branding …. At least they still had the 12, no confusion there… lol. It’s all about the juice in the end. Cheers!

The 12 is great. The 18 is even better. Both wonderful! 12 for regular enjoyment. 18 for special occasions. I love this distillary.

Thanks for sharing! .... I wish I had more than just a sample of the 18 to really give it a fair shake but at the price for the 18 around me I don't know I'm ready to take the plunge ..... we will see what the future holds :-) ... cheers Alberto!

@@happyhourwhiskey I totally hear you. I can find it for a $130 in 1 particular location. For that price it is definitely worth it. I would choose this over several others costing as much as $200. And this includes Johnny Walker blue. With so many great whiskies under a $100 it is hard to justify paying over a 100. However, this is one of the very few exceptions for me.

    • @happyhourwhiskey

@@albertomolina3868 For $130 I would grab a bottle ... when I have seen it around me it was like $160-170. Blue label is good but I think overpriced (like Macallan). You are right, there are so many great whiskies under $100 .... we live in good times with respect to that ... Cheers!

Nice one - enjoy your work!
I recently got a bottle of (Amazon special) ‘Viking Tribe’ which is better than the £22 I paid for it.
    I must pick up a 12 :)
    Great stuff, keep it up!

I just discovered your whisky Intelligent and honest reviews, and I'm inclined to try both. The 12 year old is affordable for now.

Thanks Glen! … I appreciate the kind words. The 12 year is still a pretty good deal and I would recommend …. I would be surprised if you didn’t like it. The 18 …. Well, if you you have a few extra dollars to burn it’s certainly worth a try … lol … cheers and enjoy!

Hey Dan! …. I think the HP12 would be a great place to start. To be honest Johnnie Walker double black isn’t bad either if you can’t find HP12 and a few bucks cheaper. Not as good a whisky, but a pretty good place to start to see if you like the smoke! … Cheers!

Hmmm … for $94 I would pick up a full bottle and see how it develops. That seems like a fair deal to me. At $140 it’s a little tougher decision for me … cheers Linus!

@@happyhourwhiskey Cheers! Just got back home and I now have a Deanston 12, Glendronach 12, Powers John's Lane, Bunnahabhain 12 and after tasting in the store, a Aberfeldy 18 Cote-Rotie. They didn't have the Arran 10 but they do have the Arran 18. Going back in a bit to that up.

      @@happyhourwhiskey I agree...
I am lucky that whisky is cheaper here in Cambodia...I just cannot get new releases and all the distilleries I want...But, I can buy discontinued old bottles that were big favorites on older whisky reviews. I do need to take a break and not buy anything in February..I want that last Billy Walker 18 GD my store has gathering dust.
      Cheers..
