Here in the US we get HP 12 AT 43% abv. I just bought my first bottle & only tried it a few days ago. Then I caught a cold and haven’t had a chance to revisit it. I’m not sure what I think about it yet but I’m glad it wasn’t as peaty as I thought it would be. I’m looking forward to pouring a few more drams after watching this, thanks.
Definitely mellow peat, just underlying. Wish ours was 43% too
Great vid Wade! About to have a comparison between the 12 and the 10. You nailed this one man! Great notes, love the bird chiming in lol. Keep em coming!
I was getting such a different experience with the glass I’m enjoying right now. Maybe because it’s an Ardbeg 10? lol
Haha yeah might have something to do with it 🤣

Thanks Freed! Trying to teach the bird to say whisky currently 😂
Good review, especially how you visualise the flavour notes 😀 HP 12 was indeed one of my first bottles I owned. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Dennis! Appreciate the kind words and you checking out the review 😊
When you buy this one shop around. I recently noticed some places only have the boxed bottle, while others also have a small bottle of the cask strength in the box as an extra for promotion, at the same price.
Yes I saw that too! Good advice!!
If i dont know what do buy or what i want, me just go for the Highland Park 12 YO Viking Honor, its actually one of my absolute favorites and one of my go to whiskys
Good to have those whiskies we can turn to!
Absolutly!@@McIntyresMalts
For the price, you can't go wrong with HP12 😃👍
Yeah it's a pretty sweet spot where it lives, let's hope it doesn't get hit with a price rise too 🫣
This is my definition of a classic scotch whiskey. I cannot stand the snobs that call this a beginner's whiskey. I like McAllen 12 but I prefer this at less than half the cost
I can’t remember what I said in this video, did I call it a beginner’s whisky?
In my market it’s about $100 compared to a MacAllan 12 at about $130
@@McIntyresMalts I did not accuse you of calling this a beginner whiskey. I am just pointing this out in the whiskey community. Unfortunately, no matter the price, other people consider this to be a beginner's whiskey and frown upon it like snobs.
@@albertomolina3868 If you like it my friend that is all the really matters! 🥃
