this is of the many times i hate the word progress. it's sad all these nice homes are demolished in the name of progress. i've always wanted to visit australia but now i'm to old to travel much thats what makes your videos interesting. almost like i've been there.

"these old homes" - are un-insulated shitholes that are literally worse than cardboard boxes in terms of energy / insulation rating.

Well, the 1st place, what a f..waste. I agree with you before. It had so much charm after, yes, looks fantastic, and a lot of coin was thrown at it, but all charm inside is lost. The 2nd units yeah, standard 80s, lol. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, MM :)

In the late 90s early 00s i used to drive past these places daily. It's awsome that you got in before being demolished. Drove past last week, pretty sad they are all gone. Wouldn't it be fantastic if one of the old owners or tenants left a comment. Hope so. 😊
Looking forward to see how many you filmed.
I'm not against a modernisation of an old home but without taking away the character. Was a crime to remove those leadlight windows.

From the realestate photos provided, the original internal features of the Edwardian home 🏡 appeared more charming and inviting than the more recent renovations. Although the recent renovations were cold and too modern, the kitchen needed an upgrade and could have been designed with more of a Hamptons or period theme, in keeping with the home. Thanks again Paul for another interesting explore of both the period home and the 1980s units. 😊

The first It's not a very sympathetic renovation. It is sleek, shiny and cold. The climbing wall for insects and lizards in the front bedroom is novel. The owners should have sold the home to someone who loved the original beautiful character and charm. They then could have bought a cookie cutter and magazined that one. The new look is as sterile as an operating room. Its only warmth was the wood floor and kitchen counters. Why would uou cover up a whole wall of windows!? Sorry for the rant but that renovation was awful.

    Bonjour d'Occitanie (France)

Interesting watching this and timely. Im currently staying in a Victorian home i found on Airbnb.I adore the Victorian aesthetic. The photos on Airbnb featured amazing furniture and trinkets from that period so i went ahead and booked.Imagine my horror when I checked in onlt to see all the furniture had been replaced with cheap modern put together crap from Ikea and plastic flower rubbish everywhere from the likes of Kmart-I was furious and demanded a refund.Apparently the home was recently sold and hastily bought...lets just by owners of a certain demographic ( Im in Sydney..guess) and the previous owners took all their furniture and items with them however its listed as it looked several months ago.Highly misleading and dishonest and above all, an abomination to shove this beautiful home with cheap drab grey mass produced rubbish from chainstores..Bloody disgraceful. They are buying up and destroying this country 😤

Unfortunately, that poor old girl had already been tampered with updates that were not in keeping with her heritage! Seems she was destined to be so " remodelled " that the rest of her soul was stripped out of her and replaced with cold artificial modernisation! I too prefer the house before it was modernised, so much character lost. I don't quite understand why you would buy a house of this period just to change it to look like the many plain new houses that are being built now, unless they just wanted live in the area. I've seen many beautiful old homes over the years transformed in this way all for the sake of what's in style at the time. It's a shame. I really enjoy your videos Paul, they stand apart.
