The Deathblows are a very underrated feature of the No More Heroes series. Always loved the slight slow-motion before a deathblow connects. Makes it feel very heavy hitting, chunky and weighty whenever it lands. Especially on multiple enemies at the same time. The katanas even have their own flair to it: - The Blood Berry just have quick get get-er'-done type finishes. - The Tsubaki Mk-1 has a little bit of flair on them, with the Left Deathblow having the 'Samurai wicking the blood off his blade' finish and the Down Deathblow being one-handed. One handed attacks are always so much cooler. - Tsubaki Mk-2 starts getting more over-the-top, with the Samurai finish on the Up Deathblow, the Super Slugger Grand Slam on the Right and then the full on Super Mario on the Down. - And then we have the Tsubaki Mk-3, in which Travis goes full Moe. The whole moveset is just anime nonsense that just works, with the Harakiri in his Low Combo and the Roflcopter Decapitator 5000 on the Low Charge Attack. And then we have the Trunks Shining Sword Attack on the Down Deathblow and finally, my favorite: The Wind Up Here Comes The Pain Katana Bitch Slap of Doom on the Left Deathblow. It'd be cool if more games could do this. I know that Godhand has something similar with the Roulette and Let It Die with their Finishers.
Deathblows give such great punctuation in fights. Yes, it stops everything in the middle of battle for some wacky flashy moves, but they're so satisfying. Plus, when they multikill, it's just pure adrenaline. I do love the very distinct fighting styles for each beam katana, with each one getting their own distinct flavors. I haven't gotten around to it, but Godhand has been on my list to play for a while now. I really gotta pencil that one in for when I next finish a game...
Blueberry Cheese Brownie was the one I got the most across the two back-to-back playthroughs of this game I did 2 years ago. And now I know the names of all the wrestling moves, too. The low charge attack for the Tsubaki MK-III is beyond busted. It wasn’t until the end of my second playthrough that I finally learned how to perform it on command. It came really in handy for the Henry fight, and it’s extremely useful for countering his instakill.
I'm not really a fan of Blueberry Cheese Brownie, so I know I'd get annoyed if I got that repeatedly. Definitely prefer Strawberry on the Shortcake, if not just because of Super Saiyan Travis. The Mk-III's charge move is almost too good. It makes fighting Jeane bearable and Henry extremely fun. Sad it doesn't make a return in 2.
@@NebulouScholar Any shot you plan on doing a similar video for NMH2? Thanks to your video I noticed the Katanas all have different combos and Low Charges, but I can't remember what Rose Nasty did, nor can I find it anywhere.
I do plan to cover NMH2 once I actually play it (and that will also get uploaded), but I'm also not sure how stable the steam port is so I've been putting it off (also playing other things). If NMH2 works well enough then I won't have to worry about recording problems, but if it doesn't I'm going to need alternatives.
@@NebulouScholar Yeah, I haven't heard good things about the Steam ports of 1 and 2. Fortunately I have both on Wii. Unfortunately, my Wii is in another state.
I don't think that's true. I did all the training. I mean, I have a playthrough on this channel where I'm sure I did all the training. I also played through another time to get all these recordings.
are you planning on making one of these for No More Heroes 2 if there's not one already, It'd be nice to have a video that shows off all the beam katanas and move-sets of that game as well since it's annoying how hard it is to find any videos that showcase them aside from having to search through full playthroughs. with how good this skill primer is it'd work wonderfully. especially with the possibility of the switch version.
I do plan on getting around to a NMH2 Skill Primer, I just want to get through a playthrough of the game first (It'd be my first time playing it). So I can't say it will happen soon, but I do promise that it will happen!
@@NebulouScholar there's also something I noticed now that I'm doing another playthrough since I'm introducing someone into the franchise. It seems you forgot to include counterattacks (Block right as your attacked and then attack when it's parried), which depending on the beam katana also changes the style he attacks. I actually pulled off Tsubaki's accidently he does a break-style like move that kills enemies.
I ended up leaving those out in both NMH and 2 for two reasons: I just couldn't consistently pull them off to get a good recording, and I thought they were just instant Charged Low attacks and not unique animations. But now that you mention it, maybe they did have their own animations...
@@NebulouScholar That's fair yea, now I think Blood berry and Tsubaki may share similar start-ups since when I saw a video showing it off they both have Travis do a breakdancing attack although Tsubaki I think is longer. I don't know what the MK-II one is like but i do know that Mk-III is simply the low charge.
Nah, it only lets you be cheap knockoff Henry Cooldown who has to manually aim his shots. Can't measure up to the handsome foil who also happens to be his older brother. One can only dream.

Strawberry on the Shortcake and Strawberry Chocolate Sundae are the dopest power ups, wish they didn’t get rid of those!

This is perfect, thank you! I'd made a Smash Bros moveset for Travis, and it'll be helpful to link to this video's timestamps for specific moves!
Glad that I could be of service!

Nice vid man been lookin for one of these for years!!
Thanks! I was too, so I finally decided to make it myself!
Blood Berry actually has an 8 attack combo if you do all of the dumbell training.

Man watching this makes me wish they would port this game along with the second one to modern consoles.
I mean... they're on the Switch? Although I assume you mean PS4/5. That said, NMH2 was always Wii exclusive.
I saw double pack and day one edition sold

awesome
For your info it's Cranberry Chocolate Sundae not Strawberry Chocolate Sundae on time frame but awesome vedio
Well, I'm glad to know people look at the timestamps. Good catch! I apparently get my fruits mixed up.
So blueberry cheese brownie lets you be Henry Cooldown?

Can you do something like this for NMH 2?
The NMH2 Skill Primer is already out!
Btw when you get a 777 how do you activate those?
If I recall, it should be Select/Back/whatever the equivalent is on other controllers.
