Bad girl becomes a lot easier and far more fun when you learn her crying tell has her keep a hand on the bat when faking you out and using both hands when crying for real
Solid list overall! Here's my own ranking: 10. *Speed Buster* 9. *Holly Summers* 8. *Death Metal* 7. *Harvey Moiseiwitsch Volodarskii* 6. *Jeane* 5. *Destroyman* 4. *Dr. Peace* 3. *Shinobu* 2. *Henry Cooldown* 1. *Bad Girl* Honestly, this is probably my favorite boss line-up of all time, there's a reason I still return to this game year after year. EDIT: Typo.
This was an awesome video! It makes me very happy to see this very unrecognized game grow such a large community in the past couple years. I’d even argue it’s one of if not the most underrated games I’ve ever played. Now, allow me to share my points and perspectives: -As I am part of the majority I disagree with your point on Jeane not being a good boss, but you have a lot more valid arguments against her than I do for support of her, so I can see where you’re coming from- she does kinda feel like a last minute character just to pull a switcheroo on the game. Still, she’s got a great character and I think she would’ve been *WAY* better if she had been used in the later games; I think that would oddly make her more likeable. (PS. She was actually quite difficult for me, especially cause it took me time to realize you CANT tackle her as she just breaks your wrist when you do. Also I kinda have a huge crush on her.) -I’ve always appreciated how Shinobu’s fight is very difficult, especially since it’s so early in the game. It really made her stand out to seem more prominent and significant, almost like it was foreshadowing that she’d have a more important role in the series than what was introduced of her (even if Suda wasn’t initially planning on making a sequel). -Dr Peace was probably my least favorite, but that’s just my personal tastes I think. The way he was presented was outstanding, but I never really liked his fight cause it’s just running around dodging his gunshots. -Pink Harley-Quinn aka Bad Girl is by far my favorite, closely tied with Harvey and Destroyman. Design and characteristics play a huge role in what I like about fictional characters. -Holly Summers was portrayed so well, I think it’s a good example of that there’s more going on with a person than what is shown surface-level (specifically, with the prosthetic leg, the missiles, the shovel… and lots of other things about her suggests that she might have been in the army/military, and probably faced trauma from it, shaping her view on life and purpose, which could have been why she didn’t once hesitate to kill herself with the grenade. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s Alice Twilight’s sister or something lol) I think every other boss deserves the spot they were given; not exactly 100%, but a close enough placement on the scale. Also, swag halloween costume. 🤟
I played these bosses on the Heroes Paradise version of the game on PS3. And despite the glitches, I wished that Theye'd have incorporated the bonus content from that game onto the Switch and PC Ports and ironed out the bugs.
10. *Speed Buster* All I have to say is that I find it funny how the PS3 remake (No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise) doesn’t even consider her a boss. Because in reality she is just a level hazard and nothing else. 9. *Jeanne* I pretty much have most of the same reasons as well; I think her character is interesting and entertaining enough, but the fight itself is disappointing; Having a boss force you to spam the charge beam in order to defeat it is pretty limiting and not nearly as satisfying as coming up with your own strategy. 8. *Shinobu* It’s kinda fun and flashy but my only problem with shinobu is her rank being in rank 8, if she was in between ranks 5 to 1 I would be fine with her being difficult; But having her being placed in the first third of the game makes her a somewhat frustrating difficulty spike. 7. *Dr. Peace* An example of how an interesting character can save a rather lackluster boss. 6. *Death Metal* For a first boss it’s really solid; Death Metal himself is a pretty cool character and the fight while simple is pretty fun. 5. *Harvey Moiseiwitsch Volodarskii* A U.A.A. assassin that uses magic alone was enough sold me! 4. *Destroyman* Easily the most entertaining character in the series, even though he’s absolutely insane, similar to Joker I can’t help but love the character despite that… Oh yeah the boss is good as well. 3. *Holly Summers* Honestly I find her to be the most underrated boss in the first No More Heroes game, while she’s somewhat easy to an extent, I still thought she was pretty fun to fight; I liked how arena was filled with sandpits as while there pretty easy to climb out of it’s a good way to encourage the player to think of their surroundings; But the main reason as to why I really liked Holly Summers is storywise as I thought it made for great foreshadowing as to what will happen in the second game. 2. *Bad Girl* For one of the last ranked fights it’s strange how she felt more like a final boss than Jeanne did; Infact I think she’s the first boss in the series to be three phases as suppose to just two. 1. *Henry Cooldown* For the actual final boss, Henry was a much more satisfying end to the game than Jeanne was.
My list (as someone who started on 2024): 10: death metal 9: speed buster (my charge button was broken so I had to buy a new pair just to buy it) 8: bad girl (she’s much better character in tsa and 3 and her boss is alright) 7: destroyman 6: holly summers 5: Jeanne 4: shinobu (better character in 2 but she has a fun fight) 3: dr peace (his design and cutscene are amazing) 2: Harvey whateverthefuckhisname is 1: Henry
Every recording of the fight with Jeane I could find on RUclips uses the charge cheese, and it's hard to blame them considering how annoying she is. But it's not the only reasonable way to beat her. Normally dark step doesn't do much to her, but it can be more effective if you dark step, do a low melee attack, and once she's stunned instead of grappling you just keep slashing. And when she starts her charged attack, you attack her back to make her switch to her regular combo so you can try to do the dark step routine again. Granted, it's not guaranteed you will time it right and manage to stun her, but once you actually manage it you can do a ton of damage that way, and she will stay stunned for a long time too, potentially allowing for one or two extra dark steps if she keeps doing her regular combo. Hard for me to say how I feel about her as a boss because she IS really annoying to fight but I also think she's really impressive mechanics-wise because she breaks up the "wait patiently for you to bait them" pattern every other boss has. Also Speed Buster rocks, in a game that's all about action she has a really thrilling gimmick that briefly makes you feel helpless and run around like prey.
There's a way to fight Jeane that's pretty fun IMO: hitting her with charged B after a dark step. That way you'll stun her and can get a few hits. And it's fairly nuanced since on phase 3 she can fight while stunned, forcing you to dodge and wait till the stun goes, because you can't grab her. Over all, I liked her fight, she has very little HP but deals a ton of damage, specially with those hard-to-react, unblockable overhead kicks.
im an huge Henry fan too, i hope i could wear his stylish cool clothes, its hard to do anything in Turkey but one day maybe i could ask a tailor to do it for me. i need to save up some money first
I would have put jean higher cause if shes a bit devoid of compelling motives her boss fight is still challenging and I don't think that its impossible to do without the I frames of the charge attack but they do help make it easier. it still has that 'ahaa' moment you get when you get hit enough by them and barely managing to get out of it alive. I would gameplay wise I'd put her higher than doctor peace or the magician guy
I don't know how people hate Jeane but love Henry. There's strategies to beat Jeane's dodging and she is easily the most interesting boss in the series with just how many interactions she has. Meanwhile Henry is invincible for 90% of the fight and the most effective tactic is to just mash attacks on him for 30 mins because his health bar is so fat. I get this series doesn't the most nuanced gameplay, but the Jeane hate is a testament to people just not understanding the system at all.
I dunno, people have different likings I guess I mean, look at me, out of all bosses from the three games... my fav is Jasper Batt Jr. and I'm not even kidding, is just... MANNN, doing a no hit on him is the best thing on earth, it feels so good to dodge those unfair teleporting punches and then parry those hurricane punches too.. it's so good lol, but if they atleast told you how to parry, maybe it wouldn't be that annoying and shitty for people I know the boss sucks, but I find it so entertaining anyways lol
I need to play that game, I’ve heard great things about it and it looks both fun and hilarious from what I’ve seen. We don’t have plans to cover it in the very near future since we plan very far ahead, but I’ll definitely do it sometime and probably play it rather soon. That was the only other M rated game I knew as a kid, because I saw some guys “top 10 most annoying bosses” video (or something along those lines) and he put The Shamans from Madworld on there
@@ZachtheRobot The wolves are the boss that was on that top 10 worst bosses list I saw, if you mean The Shamans. Seems they really are as bad as I've heard
I finished beating the deathmatch against against new destroyerman in nmh2 so im probably bitter because of that but he should have his balls tornt apart by tigers

Bo2 zombies I actually don’t particularly like but I could still give you my rough ranking. Tranzit

Destroyman is like the equivalent of Homelander. A psychotic superhero with mixed personalities.
