If anything happens to the child, she won’t get the money. She can never get it because of her crime. If her daughter dies it will go to another more distant relative or be divided up among all living relatives on both sides of the family. (The child’s grandparent’s families) Failing to find any living relatives, the state will confiscate it.
The money will be in a trust until the child is an adult that the killers can’t touch. It will only pay regular living educational expenses. That’s how these work. The situation will be monitored by the court until the child reaches legal age as the court set which in this case may be 21 but may also be over 25 in order to give the child time to mature and to get out from under her mother’s grasp.

Hey Mike, did you see that yesterday Heather was detained by the FBI? I'm assuming you did, but in case not... She served 7 out of her 10 yr sentence in Bali and was scheduled to arrive in the US, specifically L.A. yesterday morning with her daughter and her lawyer was waiting for her. However, the FBI arrested her when her plane first arrived in Chicago. They charged her with Conspiracy to Commit Murder, stating the planning of her mother's murder actually occurred in Illinois. It was priceless!
Extra: Today, 07/16, I did find some more information. There have been many delays in her trial, but I found out today that because it is in Federal Court, no cameras or audio will be allowed. So, we will only get sketches and newscasts from reporters in the courtroom. I was hoping it would be live streamed, but nope.
UPDATE: On June 16th, 2023 Heather Mack pled guilty, in federal court to one count of Conspiracy to Kill a U. S. National - the 2014 death of her mom, Sheila Von Weiss Mack. Due to the plea, the other more minor charges against her were dropped. This was not what is called a "negotiated plea" which means that no agreement on sentencing was put in place. Due to the plea, the other charges were dropped, but that doesn't mean she is getting a specific or lower sentence.
The maximum sentence for this federal charge is life in prison, but her lawyers are hoping that she will get no more than 28 years, hopefully less. According to all of the verifiable news reports. The judge will sentence her on December 18th.
While her trial was delayed many times, the sentencing should not, so it is December 18th, 2023 for sentencing.

This is an awful story. It's been on the news lately since Heather is back in the US now. I'm a Chicagoan and several years ago by chance I met Tommy's mother. I can tell you personally, that woman is absolutely broken by what Heather and her son did and where Tommy ended up. I believe he's still in jail in Bali today. Every time I see anything about this case I think of that poor woman, not to mention Sheila. It's all very tragic indeed.

Is there any truth to that?
It was also reported that Sheila denied her husband’s children from previous relationships access to him.

Update Sept 2023: After being arrested by the FBI when she returned from Bali after serving her 10 yrs, she plead guilty to conspiracy to kill a U.S. citizen (as they planned the murder on US soil) she faces life in prison. Her defense hope the judge will take their advice of only 28 years, but it is completely up to the judge. Sentencing is in Dec 2023, no cameras in a federal courtroom. But know that Sheila’s entire family plan on being there to make sure that justice will be served. I personally hope that she serves the rest of her life in prison and unable to have any contact or influence in her daughter’s life, this woman is an absolute monster.

The irony of the judge saying “ a child shouldn’t grow up without its mother” hence we will give you a slap on the wrist, 😳, in Heathers case, her child is much better off without her as a mother. 🤦‍♀️ thanks a million Mike, 👍🌺✌️

yet the child is growing up w/o a grandmother because her mother killed her.. I hope she doesn't get the kid back because she is a psychopath

1st world countries: oh, you killed your mother to get money, your child needs to be isolated from you til it turns into adult.
3rd world countries: oh, you killed your mother to get money, but we cant give you death sentence or life in prison since your child will thus grow without a mother, oh and also your child will be in prison with you til it turns 2 years old.

Exactly what I was thinking. This child is better off WITHOUT Her as a Mother. And in the end…. She will still get the money because her daughter will eventually give it back to her when she turns of age. I only hope she doesn’t live long enough to see that money.

I have a friend who went to high school with Heather and Tommy. Apparently, nobody was surprised when the news broke back in Chicago, everyone knew those two were nuts.

To be fair, when you hear Chicago and murder in the same sentence it shouldn't surprise anyone. I mean jesus christ Chicago, even when you go on vacation you can't stop murdering people.

Update she was arrested in Chicago and is now facing the same charges here. Her lawyers are trying say double jeopardy but she was not tried or convicted here. So we will see how that plays out.

In that "confession" vid you can see so many of her "lie-tells" (the voice inflections, the movements in the mouth corners, eye-shifting, "tough-sniffing", the word choices, etc.) ....lies on lies on lies.
