Ze, what a gem this is. As a new movie maker, having a framework to think about and give context to what I do is mega helpful. I hope you do more of these. I'd love to hear more about the actual filming process when you're taking shots that aren't just you talking to the camera.
I could sit and listen to you talk all day long. About anything. Your voice and the way you speak are very soothing to me. It makes me feel very comfortable.
Oh my dear Ze! You most definitely ARE a Weirdo! And that is why so many people really and truly love you, without really even knowing you at all. We are ALL WEIRDOS too! Thank the Universe for Weirdos! For without us (both those who create and those who can only deeply appreciate) there would be no humor or joy, and we would all be mindless zombies. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for your specific brand of Weirdoness! And I know I am Very late to the party; your videos are years old, and you are still a pure genius, hilarious delight, and you are helping people feel better, or just plain alright, all these years later! What a genuine treasure you are. And I'll just bet, you were a hell on wheels handful and puzzlement to your parents you were as a child. I can almost laugh out loud right now at what a little high speed shit you must have been! And bless them for creating the Wonderful, Warm Weirdo that you are!
My biggest challenge is that I get to the "Throw out the top level Specificities" step, and never figure out the next step... Thus leaving me without a usable idea. Thanks for helping me know the next steps to take.
That magic cubby of yours brings out my curiosity so strongly. Its contents are always different, and arranged in new ways. I want to browse through it all every time... see what I recognize and what's new, see how it's organized (or not), that kind of thing.
Ze, you just turned my day around. Today had been really shitty, but just seeing your face and hearing your voice for these 12 minutes made it so much better.
So nice to hear from you again! And this is a great insight into the process of making videos. I can't help but try to draw parallels into the architecture project I'm currently doing...
I've been feeling extremely disorganized in almost every aspect of my life right now (school work, applying to colleges, no money, not relating to friends, etc.), so the extremely organized nature of this video has made me feel 500% better, and my two-week long continuous anxiety attack has just broken. Thanks.
Ze, you may or may not realize just how much you affect the people who watch your videos. This whole channel is filled with so many things that apply to me that I almost feel like I'm watching my future self. While that may be slightly disconcerting to you, be assured that the point I'm making is that the content and timing of your videos, specifically this channel (but your main channel as well) has been a total blessing in my life. As a first year college student studying film and knowing without a shadow of a doubt that this is the kind of stuff I want to do until I die, you're a role model for me and I thought it would be fair to say so. Keep doing what you're doing, man. It's all greatly appreciated. =D
Dude you are a genius! I can't believe I just discovered your videos, I love how you think about thinking and share your techniques with the world. I'll definitely keep these tips in mind if I get stuck. Keep up the good work
Thanks, Ze! I've really been missing your videos. Seeing your process made me think about what I value in trying to make a connection with people - breaking down ideas, breaking rhythms, and focusing in on my own experience definitely gave me some ideas to mull over.
I've been trying to further my creative endeavors for a while now at my university. I've been following most of these steps already, but you posting a video about it all makes me think this is a sign I am moving in the right direction. Thanks, Ze. Take care
Excellent work on Surprise Sort of made me realize I always go for the same kind of change in my tone when speaking publicly, which wasn't something I realized I need to improve on because I'm already ahead of my peers. I think it's important to compare yourself to what you can be instead of what your peers are, though, and continuing to improve yourself when you're "the best" is important. Thanks, Ze, for giving me something to work on!
I've missed these videos Ze. I enjoy what you're saying though I'm not making media I'm thinking about how to integrate this into my teaching practice. I love that your videos make me think. Thanks for being helpful/ inspirational to my overworked sleepy brain.
this can be applied to any creative work environment. #webdevelopers #graphicdesigners #engineers #writers #musicians etc...you are not alone ze...this is greatness.
This is an amazing video. I feel like I need to watch it about twenty more times to even start to get everything out of it that I could get, but it's exactly what I needed right now. Thank you Ze.
This was a great video that provided some nice insight. I would personally love to see you use that starbuck example just as a small video :) Great video, great seeing back again!
This is just perfect. I'm attempting NaNoWriMo for the first time, and I've been brainstorm each next day's words when I work out at the gym... and this will help SO much!
Yah I'm pretty sure I'm going to watch this whenever I attempt to make a video ever now. Now that I am familiar with these techniqus I can see how you use them in your videos. My favorite bit was where you talk about scale and I will totally use that concept when I need it.
This kind of stuff goes on in my head when I brainstorm, but it's just mass chaos. You're able to articulate and categorize the process so organically. I commend you.
Thanks for this, Ze! I used to teach improv workshops for Renaissance Faire performers who did interactive character work with people in the lanes, and one of the big things I tried to convey was recognizing the easy joke/inuendo/cliche/reference, leaving that for the audience member to think or say on their own, and instead trying to observe things in a way that's unique to the performer and find the comedy that's a little beyond the easy bit.
This video helped me to write my essay in a very new way. I talked about the individuals perception of truth and how we are never wrong unless someone else or time proves us wrong. Usually nobody gives the wrong answer intentionally, one may understand that one is wrong but many things in our thoughts present to us as facts about life and the surrounding world.
As a director and cinematographer, this video has rained glitter from the unicorns butt on to my brains! So "revalational!" Thank you so much for these words Ze!
I was watching this video in bed, dreary-eyed, half past one at night. While enjoying the points being made, 10:00 happened. I bolted up, but on my way I was stopped by my head board. All my ornaments were jostled, including a stone statuette of two dragons fighting. My hand on my head soothing the soon to be large bump is pierced by the the statuette in the webbing. I pull my hand away and the statuette continues to fall on to my already damaged forehead. I bet you thought that was reeeal funny putting that in there Ze.
I love Ze Everything - tone to the formation of each idea that falls out of your mouth is captivating, true and exciting. You are a carbon copy (physically) of a neurosurgeon that I work with at the hospital...I doubt he could ever dream of being as interesting as you are. Love your videos -
It was really cool getting to see a part of your creative process! Also, I know everyone is saying this, but it's true. I've missed you Ze! It was really nice seeing you in my sub feed :)
I have been told that I have strange thinking patterns and I often feel very alienated, even among my closest friends and family because I may mention some thought I had and I can't connect to them because they don't see things the way I do. Whenever I see one of these videos, I am reminded that I'm not the only one that sees the subtleties of life and also feels the alienation of thinking like this. Thank you Ze.
Before you even mentioned coffee shops I imagined you walking into the one I worked at (I am not kidding) and trying to hide a big grin, failing and bursting into joyous laughter. I love your vids ZeFrank!
Unsticking indeed...at least for the moment. I figured since so much has been lost in the pond as of late, I did not anticipate seeing any more of these again. This too, then, has been a surprise. Hope you're well.
Very helpful. I have to make a video for school that's basically trying to get people to buy from local/small businesses for christmas. i have been having trouble with trying to make it entertaining while also providing useful information.
Good to see you again, Ze. I'm sure there's lots of great info in this video but, unfortunately, it was while watching it that I discovered the new Google+ shenanigans and spent the last hour trying to figure this crap out. I'll be sure to watch this again when I have more time.
Thank you for making a new vlog. I was imagining trying to break out of my natural speaking rhythm and thought I would probably end up sounding like William Shatner. Maybe that is why he talks like that...
I LOVE THIS!! I feel like I pay attention to the same level of detail. I totally get the "specificity of observation". As soon as you ruled out the obvious I went to "the sugar packets" I get you, man! lol
If I had only seen this video before making my recent one. I used instead of throwing out all the obvious. As always I learn something new and very useful from Ze.
Your mind is so cute. Thanks for sharing. And you are not strange you are just right. I also have thought of electronics fighting over sockets and things of that nature. Maybe that is why people laugh at me and tell me I should be a comedian. :) Again thank you.
Firstly, I'm soooo happy to see you again!:) Secondly, thanks for the advice, the way you think in itself is quite inspiring. And thirdly, it struck me how good you are at expressing your feelings and your thoughts. I've realised it's part of what draws me to your videos. You speak of things that most people probably avoid in fear of exposure, of being seen without a protective mask. I don't know how to describe it (you probably would:P), but your words always seem genuine, never empty. Have you always had that ease or is it something that can improve with time or practice or whatever is needed? I think many of us could use some advice on that. Maybe in a future video...?:)
You are great, you are definitely NOT alone and you are an unusually keen and astute observer of human behavior. Great value video!
I always start watching these not thinking I'm going to watch the whole thing and then I'm suddenly 10 minutes in
So appreciating these and glad they are still up.
Ze where are you we need you man these videos are life
Ze, what a gem this is. As a new movie maker, having a framework to think about and give context to what I do is mega helpful. I hope you do more of these. I'd love to hear more about the actual filming process when you're taking shots that aren't just you talking to the camera.
Thanks for sharing Jennifer Gresham - this was great!
Ze, Will you be doing more videos like this in the future? I have really been missing A Show at this point in my life.
nope
Heck in 2020 A show would be amazing just rewatching it can be so amazing definitely a good pick me up
I could sit and listen to you talk all day long. About anything. Your voice and the way you speak are very soothing to me. It makes me feel very comfortable.

Litterally just watching old videos of yours the other wondering if you'd ever do any more in this style. I'm grateful you did.
I hope you come back to make more of these vids. I love listening to you speak. So much knowledge and wisdom! It's like you're inside my head!
My biggest challenge is that I get to the "Throw out the top level Specificities" step, and never figure out the next step... Thus leaving me without a usable idea. Thanks for helping me know the next steps to take.

I was so happy to see this. Ze's talks are so genuine and real and I missed them so much.
Ze, you just turned my day around. Today had been really shitty, but just seeing your face and hearing your voice for these 12 minutes made it so much better.

This is fantastic! Thank you for your true generosity in sharing your creative experience.

Love these types of videos Ze, you should start doing more again :)
Ze, I have been missing your videos they always somehow pull on my heart strings
Ze, so pleased to see and hear from you. Thanks for checking in. Why has no one mentioned the 'surprise' at 10:03? good one, Ze.
Thanks, Ze! I've really been missing your videos. Seeing your process made me think about what I value in trying to make a connection with people - breaking down ideas, breaking rhythms, and focusing in on my own experience definitely gave me some ideas to mull over.

Thanks for being helpful/ inspirational to my overworked sleepy brain.

It's been a while. Great to see you up and running. I really have been missing your videos. I might soon go back to rewatching all the old ones...
This is an amazing video. I feel like I need to watch it about twenty more times to even start to get everything out of it that I could get, but it's exactly what I needed right now. Thank you Ze.
This was a great video that provided some nice insight. I would personally love to see you use that starbuck example just as a small video :)
Great video, great seeing back again!
I really like how well aligned the shelves are with the camera.
I've missed this kind of conversation video, glad to see you're back!
Oh my goodness, I've been so sad lately and seeing your face in my feed just made my whole week.
This is just perfect. I'm attempting NaNoWriMo for the first time, and I've been brainstorm each next day's words when I work out at the gym... and this will help SO much!
I really like these three techniques. Can apply the scale one right away in collage and assemblage art. Thank you!
I'm always glad to see a new video from you, Ze!
Yah I'm pretty sure I'm going to watch this whenever I attempt to make a video ever now. Now that I am familiar with these techniqus I can see how you use them in your videos. My favorite bit was where you talk about scale and I will totally use that concept when I need it.
Wow. I have missed you so much, Ze. These are extraordinary tips!
It is such a pleasure to see you so exuberant, Ze.
That was fun - I liked going thru the process along with you.
i'm really appreciating that you have let me in on your creative process :)
I got so dang excited when I saw you uploaded a new video. We missed you! :D
your voice is like rain ... its calm and peaceful.
Ze, thanks for coming back man, you just made my day.
We've missed you so much. So glad you're back!
This kind of stuff goes on in my head when I brainstorm, but it's just mass chaos. You're able to articulate and categorize the process so organically. I commend you.

Missed this. Ze is so human. Making me reolize that all the weird things I think and do everyone else thinks and feels also.
I've decided watching Ze is much better for me than watching politics, which never changes or does anything to make me better.
It's nice to have you back, Ze, even if it's just for this one video.
Thank you Ze. I really do feel like these are going to help me a lot. *hugs you uncomfortably*
I really like your techniques. I'm thinking they work for painting too. Thank you!
Yess, beautiful and quite helpfully informative video. I have a creative writing piece due soon and you helped give me ideas.
I was watching this video in bed, dreary-eyed, half past one at night. While enjoying the points being made, 10:00 happened. I bolted up, but on my way I was stopped by my head board. Great to see you again, Ze. I've missed these videos :)
Endlessly helpful, as usual. Needed this today.
It was really cool getting to see a part of your creative process! Also, I know everyone is saying this, but it's true. I've missed you Ze! It was really nice seeing you in my sub feed :)
I love how genuine that Ze is.
Great video! Thanks, thumbed up, and bookmarked. Small correction though. In the United States, or at least in the south, right turns are the surprise
I jumped on that little part when you were explaining your surprise technique.
FINALLY another video! :D I seriously missed this channel lol
Good god, it's so nice to see you again!
I have this same experience with a member of my family, who is prone to binary thinking.
Thank you. I learnt more here than my first month on my film production course.
Yay! You're back! ^.^
We missed you and your 227 bees.
Gotta love the creative process, it's wonderous at very least.
Before you even mentioned coffee shops I imagined you walking into the one I worked at (I am not kidding) and trying to hide a big grin, failing and bursting into joyous laughter. I love your vids ZeFrank!
Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely use them
Oh how we've missed you! This video came at a perfect time
Very helpful Ze, thanks for sharing!
This is incredibly useful, and at the precise moment. Thanks.
I miss you so much zefrank!!!
I love how you mention signs pointing at the end and you have an arrow on your cap.
Unsticking indeed...at least for the moment. I figured since so much has been lost in the pond as of late, I did not anticipate seeing any more of these again. This too, then, has been a surprise.
Hope you're well.
This was brilliant Ze, makes me want to almost change everything about my videos I have been doing so far. Which is probably a good thing :P
You're brilliant.
Very helpful. I have to make a video for school that's basically trying to get people to buy from local/small businesses for christmas. i have been having trouble with trying to make it entertaining while also providing useful information.
Slam dunk! So much there. Impossible to guess how many pathways in the creative process that opens up.
WHOAA Ze Frank narrating an ad that comes before his own vid! WHOA
I missed your videos! Welcome back, Ze :)
Hey Ze, I know it's a longshot, but would you consider creating another missioin. Those were fun to participate in
I could listen to this dude all day long
Hey Ze, I really miss the videos of you answering our questions about life and all. Will thay be coming back eventually?
Missed you Ze! Good to have you back.
Good to see you again, Ze. I'm sure there's lots of great info in this video but, unfortunately, it was while watching it that I discovered the new Google+ shenanigans and spent the last hour trying to figure this crap out. I'll be sure to watch this again when I have more time.
Love your work sir!! Please upload more often :)
Hello Stranger.... So good to hear your voice and see your face again
Thanks for these great tips Ze. I find myself using similar techniques when writing stories or papers for college. :)
Thank you for making a new vlog. I was imagining trying to break out of my natural speaking rhythm and thought I would probably end up sounding like William Shatner. Maybe that is why he talks like that...
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you.
ZE! Seeing you in my inbox was like seeing an old friend that I haven't seen in a while.
this really helped me write, thank you zefrank
Your mind is so cute. Thanks for sharing. And you are not strange you are just right. I also have thought of electronics fighting over sockets and things of that nature. Maybe that is why people laugh at me and tell me I should be a comedian. :) Again thank you.
