Praveen Kumar i don’t understand where your aggression from my simple comment stems from. As mentioned by the comment below by another viewer. My country doesn’t really have “slums” and even so I already actively participate in recycling and volunteering for this matter in my school. So please next time you wish to “assume” something watch what you have to say.
Seeing the little boy and little girl volunteering for the cleaning process is such a heart warming scene to see. Children are very naive and they learn from what they see. I think education is really important. Hope the environment is going to get better in the slums !
So, go to a foreign slum and expose yourself to who knows how many diseases while cleaning up the trash that it's own residents will not even attempt to properly handle? Ummm, no. The better thing would be to work with the government or local agencies to get people educated about cleaning up their own environment and get regular trash removal and proper disposal after collection. The idea that these people are doing anything more than slapping a cheap Bandaid on a festering wound is ridiculous.

70% of Mumbai municipal funds are budgeted for salaries and pensions. It is a typical indian bureaucracy game of converting public money to private (their own) wealth.

That is such a great grass-root project. Great also Mazi could motivate you to financially help and to do a movie about it. I see how hard it must have been but also great experience. You changed the world to a little bit better place, especially the educational effect was the one of the biggest results I think, seeing the local kids participate is really nice. People need to change their thinking in how to deal with trash, but it is hard for locals who also have other concerns in their life e.g. how to feed themselves and were to use the next bathroom. So I feel environmental thinking often comes with education, and having basic needs met. Also as you mentioned it is based on upbringing, the younger generation needs to see the benefits of it and need to be thought by their parents or in school (if they go to one) on how to dispose trash properly. There was one of those slums, you showed in the earlier video, where it was so clean and they build houses now were earlier there was trash. What is needed in your opinion for the slums to improve? Should all slums be houses one day and the streets clean? Is this feasible vision ? Someone mentioned the trash is just being dumped in the next river, did the officials tell you where it got dumped ?
Thanks for watching the video and caring about our environment, you legend. Although I was not able to join you guys for the restaurant as I had to catch a train back to my hometown. But I felt very good meeting and connecting with like- minded people.
There was a time when some of the people who joined the campaign were tired, but Jacob was filled with energy.

-Mahatma gandhi.

Congrats to you all! Nice to see there are still motivated people. Grts from Europe
