Also any idea why Levi's sent me a 2015 raw denim jacket? I bought one last year with a 2018 tag and it had two tone stitching. This new one they sent me looks cheaper and is made in china. How do I get the other jacket from the other factory?
@@stylewithaltitude honestly no clue, I spent the last year trying to figure out their shipping; my guess is that after a couple of years they reassign serial numbers to similar pieces of clothing, like the code to the older jacket becomes the code to a new model of jacket. It’s pretty BS honestly
@@TheShannonagains It is bs honestly, I thought I was getting the same jacket from before. This other jacket cuts corners and also doesnt look as good without the extra touch of detail.
@@Manuel-kx4qtlol that is false having a button fly or zip up have nothing to do if the jean fits nice and comfortable to you, you just prefer the fitting and comfort of the 501 jeans vs I think they feel uncomfortable even tho I been wearing them for years I go with stretch Levi’s now every time I see them
I loved 501s since I was 20. Here it is 40 years later, I still love them but have to plan my outings around them because it requires more time to unbutton when I have to use the bathroom. Lol.
The 501 rinsed jeans that I've bought in the last year are noticeably baggier in the thigh than the 505 jeans bought in the last year. Let's face it; they're made overseas in lots of different countries and there is very little consistency in the fit.
I know right? I have always been 32L and when I recently went to buy some new 505’s I’m now a 30L. The 32L were way too long. When I compare my new 30L to my old 32L side by side the 30L is an inch longer than the 32L! How does that make any sense!? What also makes no sense is I have a 34” waist but 34W is way too wide. I think they do that as an illusion so people think they are less fat than they really are so they keep buying their clothes.
comparing 501 and 505 or any other two cuts with each others is nowadays not very straightforward. Levis has lost its quality control since it's producing them in different countries and as a result, for example the 501 in the same size may vary in its cut dependent mainly on the country but also on the material used.
I know this is going to sound crazy, but in terms of quality, look for Made In Mexico. I'm in my 501s made in Mexico and they have been amazing. I got them at JCP for $40, best money I've spent on denim.
They're not 501's or they're fake 501's. The original 501's are the only Levi's still made in the USA and that's why they're more expensive than other Levi's lines, such as 502's, 505's, 511's, etc. made in other countries with cheap labor.
I've just done a comparison of my 505s and 501s both same sizes, the results are different the 501s are a more relaxed fit on the thighs than the 505s, and the 505s are more tapperd, they are an inch narrower at the bottom than the 501s. There again I have two pairs of same sized 505s but the cuts are slightly different.
Wow thanx for this information, never knew this. Been wearing 501's with boots since forever and always thought that only the buttons and zipper were the difference
Bought a pair of 505 three months ago. They have changed the back pocket to a shallower design , and every time I have worn them my wallets has come out, in car seats, bleacher seats, boat seats. I won't carry my wallet in a front pocket, SO...off to the Goodwill with these and back to Wranglers for me
The two things, I don't like about the Levi's 505 are the front area fits too tight or snug around the correct waist size. Also the leg openings are too wide. Which makes it have a flared boot cut look👖 👢😒
are the 505 jeans stretchy? i’ve never owned a pair of levi jeans, and i bought a pair in a smaller size than usual, they haven’t came in yet and i don’t know.
The 501 STF and the “original fit” are different as well, the STF has five buttons where the original fit has four, the STF conforms more to the individual wearer due to them shrinking to size, and at one time the STF had a double stitch inseam and the originals did not; now there is no difference between the two in that regard. All being said, the 501 STF and 505 would be a more close comparison
All 501's used to have five buttons. I stopped buying STF because you couldn't get a longer inseam than 36" which would shrink down to 33"- too short. So I started buying rinsed 501's with a 34" inseam. All had five buttons.
For me, they are kissing cousins. The 505 are regular fit, and 501 are almost slim fit. I bought a pair of 514 slim fit, and they fit like 501s with a zipper. 505s absolutely sit a little higher. If I had to pick one pair of jeans for the rest of my life, it would be the 505.
I had both I thought the only difference was the zipper but your right now that o think a bout it but I mean if you like the zipper you can go one size bigger on the waist so they fit like 505 I miss the 501 tidal wave it’s disscontinue
Between these two straight fit jeans, 501 is the slimmer cut. But Levi has a large selection of slim options available, including 511, 512, 513, 527 and others.
Costco just put out 505’s. That should pretty much tell you all you need to know if you’re an older dude that doesn’t want skinny jeans! Lol Viva Costco, appreciate them lookin’ out for us “dad bods”. lol
Good review Bro n I got both..!! Now in 2024, Levi's launch loose jeans for man n woman. So, the style goes to bigger jeans. Start from regular, slim, skinny n now loose, baggy n super baggy. Levi's Jeans 514 is actually tighter than 505, but you described the other way round in your website: totally misleading the consumers like me. I confirmed this after buying 514 (based on your opinion) and measuring it against my old 505. This fact is confirmed by the facts posted on Levi's website.
