Definitely the Mary Ellen jasper! I can’t wait to find my first rock of that! I’m on the Navajo reservation right now and every other step I find red jasper! Such a pretty stone and polishes very nicely!!!
If you looking for stone in Michigan ?well there's kimbelite rocks that have diamonds try get idea what it look like.
I’m in Minnesota ❤️
I live in wasilla Alaska (just outside of Anchorage) and I have read that there are some good spots here to find Jasper and Jade. Can you please give me any tips on what to look for, I am a amateur I’ve never done this before. But I so want to!! Also what else could I look for in my area?
I am surprised you didnèt take a trip to agate island. Lake Superior Archipelago near Nipigon Bay
Let's share and get AGATE DAD more subs! 💙 He deserves it!
♥️
Hi from the high deserts of NM. You made me so jealous when you were walking in the water!!! I love the sound of water falls and wading in water &, well, you don't find all that many falls and walkable water where I live. lol. I'd go completely wild seeing so many gorgeous rocks!!! I'd probably have my trunk full and the bumper dragging the road on the way home, lol. JK. Love watching you hunt for rocks, now if I could only learn what rocks I have it'd be nice. So many look alike to me, I'm only a beginner (2-3 years) and still learning. Thanks for a wonderful break in my day. Stay safe and keep up these wonderful vlogs!!!
Agate Dad you can't leave us ❤❤❤😮😢 I just love your excitement and manner of not wasting time. It's just ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
always a fan of jaspers!
Gotta love it!
What a fun day! Love the Jaspers, but also the underwater sounds caught by Scoopy’s camera. You’ve made a great experience for the viewer. I’m suspecting that you are an artist.
I appreciate that, I believe putting these videos together is a form of art, and I love doing it, it’s very fun putting the puzzle pieces together ❤️
Scoopy looked happy too! Some great jaspers today. Take care and hug your boys for me!
Love the Scoopy glam shot! LOL Just lyin' there basking on the beach. 😂. Your videos are the best!
Great video Taylor. Such amazing finds! That little banded agate, my favourite but you licked it, didn’t you?!? Oh wait till Jared hears about that!! LOL
Love the scoopy cam. Thanks for taking us along on this adventure!
The best find was that blue agate with all the bands. The first red agate you took out of your bag was beautiful as well.😎
I love Scoopy-cam
He makes me smile and he tries so valiantly to bring you a rock you'd like!!
He’s a good sidekick 😂
Good to see you again - as always, enjoying the video and your adventures!
Agate Dad : - That's a small and nice piece of jasper !
Meanwhile shiny quartzes and agates in his spoon being thrown off : - What the , look at us !

Great video man! Love the jasper. Can't wait to see that galaxy stone cut.
😯ooooo....that Mary Ellen jasper was a fabulous piece... Nice score! Great jasper finds Taylor. Love it when you go underwater... The Scoopy cam is awesome.
Thanks Mar!!
I absolutely love the sound the rock make as the waves go in and water flows back through the rocks.
Way fun! Thank you so much for sharing!
🤘🤘
Amazing beautiful stones!!
Thank you!
If you stayed much longer you would have to make two trips to haul it all back. There were some really great finds. Keep the videos coming. Be happy, don't slip, be safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
Most of the basalt vugs here have calcite, that I've seen. And we have so much jasper it's like yawn. But it's so interesting to see from your point of view. And I love the porphyry! We've had like 2 years of rain in the last month or so and it's still raining, so maybe I'll find some running creeks after the flash flood danger is past. Thank you, Taylor 💖🦅🦅
Great beach. Really awesome finds. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for joining!
You are a pleasure to watch
Thanks for the tag along and would have to agree the Jasper.
🤘👍
An empty beach?!? What a rarity anymore! Lucky guy! I was snorkling in Superior last weekend in L'anse Mi. Water wasn't to bad ( for Superior!)
Just found this video. It brings me pure joy, the rocks, the water, scoopy, scoopy cam and the scoopy b-roll. I’m smiling at my screen like a kid.😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
It was lovely to see Scoopy in the water with his camera on I love Scoopy x🥰
🥰
Scoops is working hard today 😝awesome finds beautiful, here in Washington we are having a heatwave looks refreshing in the water, awesome day rock hounding 😊💙
Nice video, cool finds.
🤘
Agate Dad: Let me know if I miss anything.
Me: Look at all the red!
I love Scoopy in the surf! Gotta admit it looks like you’re picking up baked potatoes 😉
I love scoopy cam so much!!!! really gives a great view for someone like me who wants to learn more about how to identify things out there . Thanks for your work . much love
I haven't been to the great lakes in over 45 years. But Lake Erie was always my favorite places to play as a kid on vacation.
♥️♥️♥️
You should do a clip where scoopy is swimming and jumping out of the water like a dolphin in slo mo. Or do the free Willie iconic scene where he jumps over you.
Lol that’s hilarious
Nice work “Scoopy”! I really enjoyed the clips of the waves rolling in! That MaryEllen jasper is SWEET! Good size too!
It sure was a good find!
That was fun! I love Scoopy!
He loves you 💕
I love the orange rock!
I thought orange was the new bad 🤣
Haha!
Love your videos! Please keep them coming and you can send me a surprise box all the grandbabies will love them.lol be safe and keep the videos coming.
great vid/adventure Taylor, some cool finds. my favorite was that porphyry, reminded me of our Chinese writing rock an flowerstone we have here on Vancouver Island. 👊🍻
Beautiful finds! I didn't realize there were so many different kinds of jasper! That Lake Superior Agate with the blue colouring had some nice bands! Thanks for another great adventure!
Oh yes!!
Scoopy cam is my favorite!
🙏♥️
Yessssss. Love me some jasper!
AND SCOOPY CAM!? It must be my birthday!
Haha happy early/belated birthday 🥳
Great video brother! That Mary Ellen was pretty!
Thanks bud! I agree, love MEJ
I'd love to see those big jaspers cut, curious what they look like inside!
Will do!
Maryellen jasper is so pretty. My one son & his family is headed up to Lake Superior this weekend. I’ll see if my 2 granddaughters will bring me back some rocks. Yours are pretty finds. Thank you for sharing.
Tell them good luck from me!
@@AgateDad I will do.
That was a fun video!
Thanks!
Been hangin to get home and watch this brother! LETS GO!
Scooby Mc Scoop Scoop! Love that lad!
Dude, thanks for taking us out there as always T! Goodtimes houndin and rock goodness! Jasper num nums!
Nice hunt! Looks like it was a great day for it, and you had some nice finds. Stay safe out there, those rocks in the streams can be crazy slick, especially when they have that thin layer of algae. I almost ate it last week on an especially slick rock in a stream in the UP Michigan.
Great Video!!! 🤗
Thanks Kim!
Really love jasper, thanks for sharing. Really cool rocks. Love the peaceful waves and views of the beech and water. Just notices scoop has a face, lol, priceless. I'm really learning a lot about different rocks, thanks you for that! Love the underwater views.
Hi again TAYLOR
Almost missed this one! Beautiful water beautiful beach. Surprised of the water temp. As you know how much I love and enjoy the lake and surrounding area. That's one thing there the big water keeps churning and bringing new rocks up all the time! The water cam is super sweet in that clear water.
Thx as always for sharing your finds pics and info. Enjoy!
Underwater view was a first for me. Enjoyed it very much .! 👍👍
I’m glad!
I'm learning as I watch you as I too am a rock hound! Love Lake Superior for finding rocks!
That big chunk of the Mary Ellen jasper was my fave, but love them all lol. As always, a great video !!! Enjoy them all of the time
Absolutely love the Scoopy cam!
🙏♥️
So much jasper!!! Its too bad the creek was so full of algae, hit it in the spring before the heat ! Awesome vid!
Lovely place
Hi Taylor, what a great looking day, clear water and some nice looking pieces, some of those Jaspers especially. I’ll be very interested to see how they look if you cut them. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
Agate dad next time brings a strong magnet see how many rocks are magnetic and if there is black magnetic sand .
Great video, what is Mary ellen jasper for those of us down under. Should teach Scooby some swimming tricks, he's a great member of the team.
MEJ is a stromatolite which is an ancient algae
I never really payed attention to oolitic jaspers when i go rockhounding. That was sort of new to me. I absolutely love the scoopy cam. Love your content ✨
Same for me until more recently, it’s really pretty and the oolitic can come in different colors too
@@AgateDad I appreciate the reply :D. That's definitely something I need to look more into. I haven't been able to pick rocks for a year now due to travel restrictions. Watching your videos reminds me the excitement I had whenever I go on trips :))
Love this adventure and your wonderful finds. Where did you get Scoopy or did you make him. I’d love to get one but I can’t find one anywhere.
Two “Ho Hos” for the Maryellen Jasper! 😝
🎅🎅haha!
Superior has incredibly different looking rocks from Ontario. I'm so surprised actually.
What do you find as far as fossils? I have a few stones I found last week on the Northshore that have me guessing what they are.
Love this video.
I had no idea there was so many different types of jasper 😱 always learning something new with your videos! great finds agate dad!! 😊 also are you going to cut the galaxy stones? 😃
Ohh yeah you betcha!
Dude
Your videos are just amazing.
Is that little girl point?
I've been there hunting like ten years ago, and this beach looks sooo familiar
At the beginning of the video, you showed your precious rock. I love it. Curious, I saw a lot other rock in the river that has red tone too. What are those rock?
those two pieces of porphyry stone would have been my picks, for 2 reasons, 1( not a lot of them, and 2( they look pretty cool, it did look like you found the mother lode of jasper though... thank you for taking us along
I do love porphyry and that one would make for a cools display piece or something!
I once attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. We went on a geology field trip to a glacial till field in New Brighton. I found an unusual rock in the till. It was a cobble of gabbro with very coarse grain structure, and just a little bit of magnetite. I went and had it cut on a rock saw at Pillsbury Hall ( the geology building). Unfortunately I lost that rock. It was the coolest rock I have ever found.
Do you do anything with the Jasper? I would love to see some of the jasper from the beach, and the big one from the other video, shined up or whatever you do with them.
I’ll have to do a lapidary project with them soon 😉
Sir,good morning I have my own red jasper from phillipines
Great video. Good idea using a mesh bag to hold what you collect. Where did you get it ?
AdventureUS find them on Instagram
@@AgateDad Thanks
Greetings and thanks from a fellow northern Minnesotan. I think you may have stepped over something interesting at 10:08 escaping that creek. I have a place by the St. Croix if you ever want to come hunt down here. Thanks for the videos and kudos from one rock hounding dad to another.
I’d love that and thanks for letting me know, I’ll go check quick!
I think I see what you’re talking about, I’m suspicious of quartz! But hey, send me an email and we can chat about a possible hunt if I’m ever down that way 🤘🤘
I just found a lot from there!! Looks like deerlick creek lol
Is that Michigan?
Trying to learn to recognize jade. There is a driveway by me, where I believe I found red jade, and maybe an agate. I live in the desert, but I might be near water in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll recognize something.
I get a kick out of the name of your scoop.
🥄♥️
What do you make with the porphyry rocks? Do you slab and cabochon? Slab make coasters.
👏👏👏
I love watching your videos. A couple months ago, I would have said I'd be crazy to spend hours watching some guy pick up rocks.
I have a couple questions. First, have you ventured down into Iowa or Illinois with any luck? Also, how do you decide where to go? I really want to find agates, particularly some larger ones, but I don't have a clue how to figure out what good locations would be.
Hey! Glad you caught the bug! I haven’t ventured down there and I usually do a lot of scouting looking for indicators that there are specific minerals in the area and if there are, I stay longer or go back multiple times. Geological maps or old books are very helpful. Look up the LSA glacial path, might tell you some good stuff!
@@AgateDad I'll have to go back and re-watch your video on agate indicators. I feel like I might have missed something there.
Yeah I mean if you look up maps and have an idea of where they “should” or “could” be, start looking for little glowing translucent bits, or of course bigger agates, and then keep searching. Are you near the Mississippi River?
@@AgateDad Yep. I'm on the river as it flows around Iowa's nose. I've found some along the banks, but they're all small and don't have much in the way of banding.
I must be blind. I found the video where you went back to a creek that you'd scouted previously. That video talks about finding agate indicators in an earlier video, but I can't find the one where you actually discuss the indicators.
Also, how far south have you had luck finding larger-than-thumb-size agates in MN and WI? I've got geologic maps and want to know what I should be looking for.
Everybody and their mother. Lol I get that. The one time I went rock hunting in mn it was clear not a person then like 20 people came along in this small private area I was at.. kinda annoying but I guess oh well 🤷
I am happy people enjoyed it, but I’m still shy and don’t feel like filming in front of 100 people lol
Is poppy jasper worth anything? Cause realto beach in washington is absolutely LOADED with it. I have probably about 5 pounds of it. I only keep the coolest looking ones. Lol
I heard that you should NEVER go left!
Hahaha that was true at this spot too!
@@AgateDad you should come to Iowa where there are no other pickers!
I’d love that!
At 3:45 what are those orange color rock? Why don't you pick them?
why do you make scoopy pick rocks up with his face lol
It’s a better option than the other end 😶
Is jasper stones precious stones?
So what exactly do you do with the jasper?
Collect, tumble, giveaway
Do you have any recommendations for spots near/within the twin cities metro area for rockhounding?
I do not unfortunately
Mississippi river is super dry right now. I also look in creeks that drain into the mississippi. Just go on google maps and look for some creeks along the mississippi and boat launches and you should be able to find some there!
What do you do with all of your Jasper and other funds?
me name is jasper
Can you do more videos of what you do with the rocks, cutting, polishing, .etc
So like every few videos do a lapidary video?
Question, I heard someone say that the moon doesn't have any effect on the tides of the ocean . Just look at the Great Lakes they don't have a low tide and high tide?
Who said that lol and technically, Lake Superior has a tide, it’s a matter of inches though so hardly noticeable
When is the big Reveal????????????
Cheers,
Rik
For what?
