- Returning to where I first started rockhounding to see what treasures the creek may hold. A peaceful day of creek walking and rock hunting both agates and beautiful pieces of thundereggs in South east Queensland, Australia.
Oh… I forgot to mention, I’m not keeping any of these rocks. I’m sending them ALL to @TheoKellison for a project we’re working on. But that’s for another video. 🤪 If you havent yet, Click that name and see an awesome dude doing some awesome rockness!

Don't you have to worry about crocs when you're rock hounding near all that water?
Yeah but sometimes the rocks are worth it.
Hahaha! No gosh no! If crocs were around I’d be in a different hobby. The crocs only come down about 3.5 hr drive away. They like the warmer waters. But one day they’ll be down here. For now, we’re safe from crocs. 🤞😉
I’ve seen a video of Australian warding off a venomous water snake by reciting the word “aaaaaauuuggyyyyyyyyyy” they fear NOTHING
I've never been to Australia, but you're always hearing about needing to be careful when around water. Glad to know you can enjoy your hobby. I love rock hounding.
Such beautiful finds, Jesse! The white ceramic piece you found is part of a Japanese insulator. Very cool! I collect insulators but only the glass ones. Australia produced some of the most beautiful insulators. Much love from California!
Oh! You legend Dana! Thank you thank you! I would send you that one but I’ve already mailed it off to theo kellison. If I come across any others I’ll let you know 😁
Thank you for the ID! 🙏🙏🙏
Duuude those were some absolutely beautiful finds! Those carnelians are crazy cool! And dude the thundereggs! I can never get over how similar the chalcydony is over ther compared to the agates in Montana; literally opposite sides of the globe but man are they so comparable! But also not at the same time if that makes sense?🤣 man that second find had me drooling! Those thundereggs are fantastic! Epic video brother as always! Looking forward to hearing from you soon! You should have a surprise on your doorstep any day now😁😉
Thank you all for coming along on the hunt for nature’s beauties, tomorrow I’ll be lucky enough to be a guest for the second time on @rockhound podcast, ruclips.net/video/5TqD0Ud1fe4/видео.html
Until next time, sending so much goodness and happy health to you and yours! See you next video!!!!
Awesome video thanks
Weir everywhere. Dig the hat man
Incredible finds!! Your calm, kind, pleasant personality is always great to witness. That part where you added to the little agate left by another was just what I needed this morning!
time has flown by, all the creeks and politics here have changed in the last half decade here, i'm glad you can still find spots in the shade and simple fun to be had . keep rocking' my friend its been a fun journey, stay you !
Quest is the best!!!!! U too rookie!!!
Awesome video, lovely finds. That buried car is crazy, was it an old wreck that never got cleaned up.
You are leading by example!
Not only leaving something for the next rockhound but also picking up trash.
If I was there with ya, I would've said let's go a little farther to that bar!
Lots of a cool finds and I loved the thunderegg core!
Haha! Oh man I know you woulda Kyle. Maybe I should be Mild Jess… 🤪
I hope your hunt went rad the other day brother!
The color in those carnelians...wow. Great Finds!
Nice finds! Definitely bring us back here in the future. Like after the next good flood! 😁
Sweet finds. I missed the podcast last night. Off to watch it now. Take care and be safe.
Excellent Jessie, SeaJay and I watched it together ❤ 😀. Great 👍
Beautiful place and rocks, congratulations and thanks for sharing your experience with us.
That was really good!!!! Thanks!!!!
So many amazing finds! Great video! Just had a thought, you should make yourself some stone ear plugs!? Or maybe you have before, but how cool would translucent ( maybe even blue 😬) calcedony plugs be!?? DO IT!!! Haha
Oh heck yeah! That’s a great idea jolene! Blue would be awesome!
I love rocks , so many finds and types. Wish I knew places to go rock hunting
What a cool creek!! The thundereggs are so amazing looking ! Great video dude!
Killer video yet again brother! Do you ever use the drone to scout out spots?
Bringing it back to where it all started... Love it Jesse. So good for the soul. Another great one brotha. I can't wait to see the collab with Theo... Sounds exciting! I'll be there at the podcast tonight...maybe we'll hear more about it😃 Till then... Cheers to another great adventure!
+Good
Always a brighter day when you post my friend. Just started my first tumble as well lake superior agate's. Can't wait until they are done.
Oh my gosh how exciting mate! Heck yes!
Thank you so much Dom, happy tumbling and may your shine be AWESOME!!! 🤘
Great video thank you for this informative and entertaining video keep it up.
Great video as always. Hope all is good in your world. 😊
Hey Mlani, thank you. And everything is good in our world. It was great to see you in the live chat for the podcast! I hope you have a brilliant week ahead!
The jelly rock, bandy bits, are lovely, mystery one is cool looking. Thunder eggs are cool looking. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Denise!
I love love your videos but think it could be a little longer please.😊
Thanks Letitia, I’ve had a few people suggest this so I’ll do my best 😁
Hey rookie… nice video..I love living thru you.. meaning I have not been to any creeks this summer..just too busy.. what was the temp that day.. ? saw your coat in the beginning .. have a super week.. I’ll check out that podcast.. ☮️
G’day Yvonne!!! Oh no that’s horrible. Well, it had been two months since our last trip so I can’t imagine how you’d be feeling.
So it was 48.2f there that morning but that’s cold for Queensland haha! And then the sun comes out and I was sweating by midday 🤪 I was not wearing it cause it was ment to rain but I got lucky. Have a great week ahead my friend and I’ll see you next time! Take care Yvonne!
You are one of my absolute favorite Rockhounds to watch! Chalcedony is also my favorite. I noticed in one of your earlier videos that you said the blue Chalcedony was your most anticipated find. Blue Chalcedony is what I find the most of EVERY time I go out hounding-I'm talking ridiculous amounts! I've been knicknamed the Chalcedony queen 😆. My Son and I simply call it "Beautiful Blue". I got back into Rockhounding last year when my then 2 year old Grandson was diagnosed with Stage 4 Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer. I used Rockhounding as a Physical Therapy for him when he lost the ability to use his hands or walk due to Chemotherapy and Radiation. So Rockhounding is near and dear to my heart ❤
I would absolutely LOVE to send you some raw Beautiful Blue as well as some smoky and other Chalcedony chunks from Utah, USA. Do you have a P.O. box or somewhere that I could send a package to you?
Hey mate, glad you found this spot, beautiful finds! If you have a kayak it’s much easier to access from the other end if you paddle up. It’s easiest to launch from under the BIG bridge back at the dam (that you would have driven over on your way) and paddle your way past the air field and up the creek. Beautiful scenery and easy access to the banks you were looking at, once you pass the slime; start looking! There’s chalcedony and thundereggs, and another smaller creek that branches off that I haven’t explored at all yet. Happy hunting!
Oh wow! Woodland alien you are a legend. Thank you so much for the tip mate. I know exactly where you’re talking about. I’ll have to check it out. Much appreciated. I’d love to meet you out there one day.
Mate, i want to thank you for the super helpful tip. Pauly and Benny and I are heading out to do just that tomorrow morning early. Thank you again my friend!!!
Kill the volume of the music , having to keep adjusting volume between speech and music? very annoying
Why thank you for the kind way in which you expressed your grievance. I’ll try my best to really try and remember your comment while editing next video. You’ll have to watch it and let me know… 🤪
Awesome video! Glad to see that creek is still producing some great material for you to collect! You ever try fishing it?
Found out i had cut moss agate. And cut banded calcite into a quartz crystal like shape. Also working on a sanding/polishing box for home...
Awesome mate. That sound great!
Just a beautiful day hounding. Good to go back to the beginning every once in a while.
The little beauty at 6:40 looks like an animal paw print on it, cool.
Somebody should start a Rockhounding channel called Bandy bits.
Haha I like that!
Your return to where it all started, got me thinking, what happens when you're no longer a Rookie , will you change your name 😲 ?
Beautiful BEAUTIFUL 🤩
As always thanks for the great videos my man! Can’t wait to see some of these cut and your magic worked🤟🏻
Nice finding nature rock❤❤ !!
Thanks for another great video! I can only dream of hunting there...so your videos are my dream come true ....😍
Was it cold? You were all bundled up there lol.
Great vid as always bro Great finds wishing I was there with you on this trip
I wonder if there’s some kind of “rock exchange” that could get started up. You know, just a few folks in the group keeping in touch and sending each other rocks. Native rocks in exchange for other native rocks. Oklahoma has some pretty crazy rocks. 😁😃🤓🤓🤓
Hiya Jessie, awesome video dude! Awesome finds, beautiful beautiful stones, I just wanted to say, for me when I go rockhounding I don't just look for one kind of stones, I look for stones that are pretty and the one's that talk to me, if you know what I'm talking about, you see them from the corner of your eye 😉, and they say too you.....hey look at me, I might be a little rough on the outside, but I might be beautiful on the inside.
I'm glad you're still rockhounding and you've made a lot of friends along the way. So I hope you're having a awesome blessed day mate. Cheers! Cya!
😺🐟out!
สวัสดีครับ fc ครับ

Wow! Really.. noice!.. different!..unoousaul.😆 Way to go Jesse👍
Three of my biggest regrets in life are. I never got to explore Australia,Alaska and Antarctica. Great video and thanks for sharing. 👍
Nice finds! I was searching the creek recently also. Some of my favorite rockhounding. So relaxing
Cool cool rocks! It’s fun to watch your rock hunts! 😃 thanks for the videos. Wish there were more!
Nice finds. Looks like a fun day out in nature.
I always enjoy your videos! I know I say it all of the time, but you are my favorite rockhounder on RUclips. Keep on doing you!
Lol @"yum"
I have also been known to say that when finding a good'n! ❤ another awesome video Jessie! Keep em coming!
Haha! I couldn’t help but say ‘yum’ looking at that find 😊 thank you Lauren!
Love how you did the intro! 👌 And that drone footage makes we want to be there in that creek so badly!
Something about rocks that are attractive to some people. I had it, my girlfriend and then my mom finally confessed she collected rocks. Lol
I love how joyfully excited you are!
I would have thought: "Nah, some of that is not real." But then, it's Jessie, so you know it is special. And you need to lose the word "Rookie", Jess.
great adventure Jess, enjoyed the drone footage ta boot. some great finds once again, my Mum an I loved the same one, that beautiful thunderegg around the 5:40 mark 🤤. lookin' forward to that other vid you were workin' on. 👊🍻
Hey Jess....any chance you can cut some of those bigger thunderegg pieces 🙏 I find a fair bit and I'm curious to see what's inside 🙏
I love kust to have 1 beatyful rock of Australia 🇦🇺. Ivan crying for one hahaha 😂
Omg there beautiful 😍
I find so much rocks in my backyard! Once I found a big chunk of quartz in my backyard!
The best way to start my Friday morning…coffee and you! Great video Jesse and lovely finds. Looking forward to the podcast tonite. Sending much love from Canada.
Ohhhh thank you 😊 and it was great to see you in the chat crew today on the podcast. Thanks for checking it out and hanging out with us all.
That one little beauty at the 6:25 point was absolutely my favorite, im happy that you decided not to traverse through that deep part of the river by yourself. Stay well my friend . 👍😁✌
Cheers Lloyd mate. I hope you’re keeping well over there. Was rad to see you in the chat last Friday too. Take care man!
I love your videos, they’re very well put together. They wouldn’t be anything without your smile, you make it all come together. Glad I came across your channel, and have so many to catch up on and like;) keep it up!
Cool adventure with lovely finds. Thanks for sharing this
Gday Jesse! Have been patiently waiting ( maybe not so).
Haha thanks Jayne 😊
Absolutely loved the "I have to think. *blows raspberries*" because I do the same thing lol. You're my favorite person to watch Rockhound, Rookie!
How do ya get on bringing the rocks back into mz?
I’m not to sure. I’ve never tried to but I’m thinking as long as they’re clean it shouldn’t be a problem.
I am very intersting to watching rock hunting, and also i am also rock Hunter
You really do have the most beautiful to rockhound. Loved them all 😍, pottery is always a good find. Hope everyone is well. 😁🏴
Heya Anna! I can’t tell what it is? But yeah, I love finding a stamped piece out there. All is well, just ploddin along. Hope you’re keeping well also 😁
@@Rookie_Rockounding all good here thanks 😁. I did try to find it but no luck. Makers Mark's are usually found on the bottom but that seems to be on the side 🤔. Still a cool find though.
Aye! Thank you for trying Anna, I tried as soon as I found it and had no luck BUUUUUUUUUT! A kind lady by the name of Dana commented and told me it was an insulator 🤔🤘😁
How good are people honestly. You bein one of them ya legend!
@@Rookie_Rockounding awesome, that just saved me hours of looking, I was still trying to find what it was 😂. Insulator makes sense for the shape. A glass one is on my list of things I want to find 😂. People in these sort of hobbies are the best, always willing to help others learn.
Haha! I only just read her comment before you replied and was like “yes! I gottta tell Anna!” I need to look it up now I reckon. I said I would send it to her but it’s already over the ocean on its way to Theo’s rock shop 😁
Some great finds there, Jesse. Looks like a beautiful place and I get the feeling you were cold. Love the baby agate. Thanks for the walk and the rocks. 💖🦅🦅
nice creek to get you hooked , lots of beauties going back to my first river i ever hunted this week
Those are some absolutely gorgeous rocks you are finding
Another great day kicking it in the creek.😎
Thank you for not being a clickbait rockhounding video!! Amazing finds. Gonna subscribe.
Yes!!!!! Awesome thank you Joann! I’m so glad it wasn’t click bait 😜
Wait, your name is Jesse? Mine’s Jessie! Ironic lol. Nice finds! Can’t wait to get back out there and find some cool rocks 😊
Sup Jessie!!!!!!
Rock On brother, beautiful finds.
Another fantastic video Jesse, you found some really nice pieces there. Keep them coming and stay safe.
Thank you Jesse! I love going along with you! I'm always inspired by you, and love the great stuff you find.
My favorite part, of course, is when we get to see what you find, sliced open to see the glory hiding inside!
Waiting impatiently for your next video!! 😊👍💖
Hey! Can you make a video about what is difference between chalcedony and agate? I think I have lots of chalcedony in my agate collection
Hey mate, so the easiest way to explain it would be that agates are chalcedony but with bands or inclusions in them to make them Moss or tube or plume agates. It’s pretty much the same stuff just without as much stuff inside. Also Jasper is chalcedony as well, but it’s opaque meaning light won’t go through it. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@Rookie_Rockounding thanks 😉 it's really helped me
The stuff you find is so amazing and beautiful 😍
Mean bro, awesome find's. I just bought a saw because of you haha, I can't believe how much fun it is cutting and cleaning them up. Cheer's mate. 👍
Hi Jess, that looks like an interesting bit of creek with some more nice pieces of chalcedony, carnelian & rhyolite. I am becoming more of a fan of some of those rhyolites& Jaspers as sometimes there is so much going on in them.
Nice to see you out and about again, always a good watch. I am Hoping to get out on Saturday weather permitting to have a look up Brisbane valley way to check a couple of areas. Good video mate, Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
Ohhhhh man that sounds like a great time! It’s incredible how much good stuff there is up in Brizzy! I hope today is going perfect for you mate!
@@Rookie_Rockounding - sent you a couple of photos on messenger,
@@silverback5033 awesome! Thanks mate!
Jesse! Gosh, you make my Fridays better by default. I love this creek that you go to. Still looks like you're experiencing your winter into spring high water. Those gravel bars are so deliciously clean - but you can see the grasses and such stuck a few inches higher than those bars in the trees nearest to them. The bit at 3:00 took my breath away with that jelly carnelian until the bit at 9:00 really stole my wind with all that glorious MOSS. I cannot WAIT to see that one in particular cut open. Also looking forward to whatever you've got going on with Theo. Feeling so blessed to have some of the most amazing rockhounders through which to live vicariously. My favorite mine here in the states is hosting a night dig tomorrow for their thundereggs. Most of their large ones (basketball sized and sometimes bigger) are hollow with tube agates. They're pretty, but delicate. I'm on the hunt for some smaller ones with solid cores as I've seen some gorgeous moss in those cut eggs. Wish me luck! When you're able to come to the US, I'd be HONORED to take you to my fave spots. Love your energy and smiling face. Until next time, friend!
I can't wait to visit Australia, rock hunting is an obsession of ours as well, they're a beautiful rocks almost everywhere you go however some of the rocks that you found are absolutely gorgeous
I need to make my way out to Australia. You have the raddest rocks out there!
Nice one rookie, love xxx always💓
Thank you Allyson! Much love ✨ always 😊
Would you think of selling one of those thunder eggs?? Not much chance of finding one in Iowa, USA
jesse, thank you for taking us along hounding !!! great finds and your past memories...
Awsome man!!!!!!!
From minute 0:43 to minute 2:07 I was like 😬😲
So many rocks!!!!
Hahaha! Imagine being out there the whole day!!!! It’s like a kid in a candy store 🤪
@@Rookie_Rockounding I can imagine!! 😍
Thanks for sharing your explores with us.
Ever have any yowie sightings or experiences while you were out there?
Oh man not yet but I’m always in the open area of the creek. Still, there’s some stories of them out in this very part. I’m glad I haven’t seen any though 😬🤞
Awesome adventure as always wow some more real beauties great eye smart move when your by your self . Way to go awesome time thank you for the walk
Thanks miles! I’m glad you liked coming along 😁👍
Mr. Rock Hounding. I would like a piece of “Blue “” as this is my favorite color and birthstone, please and thank you!🙏😊🥴
Did I mention I was from New Mexico USA and I have yet to find an agate. I’m trying to talk my husband into buying a rock saw. I originally started hunting for Native American artifacts and tools, then I started watching your videos and I have to have some “Blue”. I would settle for a nice agate.
Beautiful part of QLD. @rockshe_d always tune in for your videos! Thanks Jesse
God I’m so sorry Brooke Z! I am so far behind in comments lately! So so sorrrrryyyyyyyy!
You're video was way cool but too short. Lol. Need more please. Just addicted to the hunt. Wish I could do this but I am disabled. Living the life through you.
Okay, I’ve had a few people mention this, I think I need to lengthen it out more. Specially for you mate! I’ll try making the hunts a bit longer 😉👊
Thank you for letting me know too! Keep well my friend! I’ll be doin longer ones ASAP. I genuinely appreciate your comment massively. 🙏
Thank you for sharing another of your amazing adventures ❤ love how you not only left the one rock but added to it ❤
Such beautiful finds. What a really pretty spot.
Honestly one of my first spots to find proper relaxedness in nature. I always love returning.
@@Rookie_Rockounding I really enjoy your videos, I'm just across the ditch in New Zealand, I'm totally addicted to rock hunting too.
I've learnt lots from your channel.
I do post a few videos of my rock hunts on my own channel
Duude rookie man! Get ahold of me!😁 awesome news brother!
this afternoon i watched thsi video to try and learn from someone with more experience than me and it helped so much. Just the way you showed what you were doing and what caught your eye really helped me. I went to the stream i go to and i've finally brought back the kind of rocks I've been looking for. thank you so much :)
Oh man that is so rad!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you for another trip Rook. Always fun to see what you find. SD loves you!
Thank you Jeff my mate! Sendin much love from Aus to SD!!!!!
