He kept trying to retire in Australia but we wouldn’t let him. He did so many “this is the last one” tours 😂 if he announced a concert today it would be sold out in seconds. It’s 4am in Australia and I woke up feeling “blue” with all the BS going on in the world and you just gave me 13 minutes of sunshine (and it’s pouring rain even) So grateful xx
This is so true! Amongst my group of friends, when ever anyone says "this is the last time....blah blah blah..." someone will say "Okay John Farnham" :D
I just said this on another reviewers channel . We all love John he is an Australian son and dearly loved and would we love him to pull out a concert now
@@kelloneill74 This made me laugh out loud! ❤😂
I feel you Otto, I’ve been listening to JF doing his version of Help over and over for months now - lots of love!
Well said Mr Carman.
He wrote this song for his wife about life on the road without her.
Actually, Phil Buckle, the guitarist in this video, wrote the song. He was in the band Southern Sons, and wrote this, but they had the song Hold Me in Your Arms, which the band thought was too similar
@@muzzyahoy1489 yes - Phil Buckle, Ross Fraser AND John Farnham co-wrote the song but it was John's idea/inspiration re life on the road and missing his wife which was the genesis of the song.
@@davidhaynes8745 Yes David, you are 100% right
@@davidhaynes8745 yep- the first verse is definitely John’s words- the second and third verse we’re Phil and Ross…. But the first verse John has said was his especially the part where he says ‘don’t hang up again’ as his wife really wasn’t a fan of him being on the road for majority of the year
Aahhhh yes you did hear this one! I'm ssooo glad you did!
He wrote this song for his wife because he was touring so much at the time. Such a beautiful, heartfelt song.
Absolutely criminal this bloke couldn't get any airplay or recognition in the US purely coz they considered him 'too old'...in his thirties. :/ Aussie royalty, we love our Farnsy. X
1000% true
It was also more that he didn't want to go to the US. He was offered so many times. But he just didn't want to go world wide. I also think he has a major fear of flying....
So bloody true, our gain & their loss. ❤️❤️🇦🇺
This American is an all out FAN!!
I recall once hearing an interview with Richard Marx who said John Farnham was the single greatest vocalist he’d ever heard
Yes!! I remember that.
Tom Jones said the same thing
John Lennon also openly admitted that John Farnhams arrangement of Help is they way the Beatles should of recorded it.
In Australia we’re very proud of John Farnham, he’s always been down to earth & a very humble man, love your lovely reaction & appreciation of John’s musical talent 😀
Yes even has been on Hey,Hey, its saturday singing a duet with Tom Jones
So proud of him 🇦🇺
Yay Johnny Farnham!!
Can you have a listen to The Teskey Brothers - 'rain'
1000%!!!
@@karen-jigoe5013 yes! The teskey brothers are awesome!
And he still has that control at 70 + years of age… John is a legend
One of the best live vocalists of all time, this dude is a powerhouse vocalist
Ya know George, l'm almost as old as John, so l grew up with his songs, but it's only in the last 5 years or so that l've really started to appreciate how good he is, because RUclips has let me see and hear all his LIVE shows. So, so, so much better than studio recordings. I'm now completely in awe of him.
As an Aussie,,,we love our johnny. He truly is a national treasure ❤❤❤❤
I’ve heard this song hundreds of times. Still get goosebumps listening to him sing. It never gets tired. Love it. Aussie fan 🇦🇺
Oh yeah, same here, big time!
I hope one day John Farnham can see your reactions to his voice, so pure. We’ve loved him for decades. It’s nice to see a new audience discovering him.
I would say he has by now - two nights ago on the Channel 7 news in Brisbane they had a segment on how overseas reaction RUclipsrs have caught on to John's music, and they showed 'That Singer Reactions' footage and a clip of this RUclipsr discussing John's style.
I am really getting to admire....the way you break it down with songs we have been listening to and loving for years but you let us hear it again with new ears.
100% agree it’s exciting watching him react and break down the performance
Yes..bringing me to tears....
That's it man I just react and go off of how the song and vocal makes me feel. Sincerity is missing from many reactors. It's not that hard just react.
I completely agree, I called my old man the other night and said I remember all the songs from when he used to play them in the car, but I didnt realise just how good he was until I saw this singer do a great reaction to Help. I also didnt realise I would like a reaction video haha.
Absolutely agree @Rick Anderson.
I'm an Australian and I grew up listening to John Farnham, so I love him for his voice, charisma and the nostalgia, I guess, but until I started watching you reactions recently, I had no idea he also has a talent for writing and/or co-writing his own music. This song always got to me, because it's a beautiful ballad, and he infuses it with just enough grit to make it heartbreaking.
That's why we call him "the Voice" here in Oz. He can sing any genre! He is a great guy and his concerts are phenomenal. He likes to have fun with his audience..
The Greatest Male Vocalist I have heard and an absolutely Beautiful Human Being...I've had the Pleasure of seeing John live 3 or 4 times and he does not miss a Note...His Range, Control and Passion is Unbelievable...There is nothing he cant sing...We Love You Mr Farnham ...Great Video by the way...I Love that you are a Singer and can appreciate everything that is going on in John's Vocal Range...Keep Up The Good Work Man :)
I feel so lucky to have grown up with John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes as the soundtrack to my life and many other Aussies would feel the same way. They are both so unique and special and giants of the Oz music scene.
Shows like American Idol have taught a generation of young singers that belting and decibels are what make you a good singer.
John Farnham is an absolute master of his craft, and his vocal dynamics are second to none.
'He can take you there' - that's about the best description of what Farnsey does I've heard yet. And you're absolutely right - he can belt it out with his ridiculous range enough to blast you into the stratosphere one minute, and sing so gently it's enough to bring you to tears the next. THAT'S talent. And, in his 70s now, he can STILL do it. Amazing performer.
John wrote this himself, he was missing his wife while he was touring and this is what he came up with.
That's amazing
He co-wrote it with Ross Fraser and Phil Buckle.
That’s why u hear the emotion in the voice that song takes him to a amazing place vocally
@@kipleybarrie5907 I had heard a rumour once that before he wrote this song with them, he asked Ross Fraser why he (John himself) could never write a song, and Ross told him it was because he was just too upbeat and happy a person. He told him that he had to dig into himself when he was not feeling so happy.
@@emihatov I'm not sure about that, John has written other good songs he recorded before this one
One of the most talented singers in Australia’s music history.
You mean "The most" talented singer
We loved him even more for loving his wife with such intensity. True national treasure.
What a shame he will never be able to sing again! Cancer sucks! He's so lucky to still be alive at all.
This song is about his wife, missing her. Gives me chills and has done for 20+ years.
Been a legend in Oz for over 50 years. His vocal control is sublime, his mic technique is peerless and he sings this song for his wife of nearly 50 years so the emotion is real. Check out his work with Little River Band as well.
Beautiful, beautiful song.
No-one can sing it like home.
Farnsey and Barnsey are demi-gods of vocal arts.
It's true, they are the best Australian males
dont forget Minoguey
Not Barnsey he can't sing
@@rosemallia5252 He used too. Now he just screams.
Brother I've seen hundreds of John Farnham reactions, but you're the first one I've seen sing the lines. You're incredible in your own right!
Aussie superstar. What a legend.
'Touch of Paradise' is probably his most lpopular ballad. Gorgeous song.
I am flat out blown away that you are reacting to one of Australia’s legends!!! I’ve just found your channel and am shocked to see that you are reacting to Australian singers, good on you mate! Sending love from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you! Beautiful singer and song. Beautiful reaction.
You are so right about singers who over sing the song to showcase how high, powerful or low they can go, instead of just singing it with the appropriate tone and emotion. All the extra twiddle-dee-dee stuff often causes the message of the song to be lost. John Farnham knows when to pull out all the stops vocally, and when to pour on the emotion so it hits the listener in the feels. That is why he is so good!
So smooth and the clarity of his voice is incredible. His voice is so unique I haven't heard a voice like his anywhere else. His voice is so uplifting
Yes and this is slightly better version ruclips.net/video/4PPvOhPspEA/видео.html

I saw John Farnham in concert once at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, a venue which could hold 12,000 people. The place was full and yet... Farnham's rapport with the audience was so strong I felt like I had wandered into a backyard barbecue with a few close friends and he was there singing just for us. He gave us all a very warm and intimate concert experience- very hard for an entertainer to achieve in a crowd of 12,000!
I was there too ,how about a bit of Sadie,John ? NO NO ,RACK OFF.lol
He’s the worlds best singer. One of a kind and let the World pray for him 🙏🏻 right now to heal him from his cancer 😢
I think I remember John saying that he sang that song to his wife Jillie when he’d be on the road touring and she was at home with their sons. It’s a beautiful song and it’s so heartfelt. Love John and these songs I grew up with. I’m glad to hear them again and see you loving them too. Hugs from Australia ❤️❤️🐨❤️❤️
I can never listen to this without crying... and I don't even know how I "burn" for.... the message just resonates with me so much.
He is just stunning isn’t he. Thankyou
He is such a beautiful singer . I live his voice .
What makes John so special is that he is so down to earth and a heart as big as our red center he always has a g'day mate
Amazingly the best thing about John Farnham isn't his voice, its his personality.. He is such a nice bloke, talk to anyone, very funny.. Very humble, been married 1000 yrs lol.. Barnsey is the same.. Met them both many times..
John does a little duet with Tom Jones on Hey Hey Its Saturday, truly a beautiful duet, you'll also get to see a little of Johns personality in it.. Really enjoyed your reaction mate good job..
Kiwi here. Absolutely love John Farnham. One of my absolute favourites that demonstrates his flexibility, skill and hard case attitude is his rendition of ‘No Aphrodisiac’ from the Sydney Opera House live concert of the Great Australian Songbook. Spectacular. Just can’t find it on RUclips.
ruclips.net/video/N94iIKsDCTE/видео.html No Aphrodisiac. :)
@@anniej8311 thanks. Yes I am aware of that audio version but the live Sydney Opera House concert version is spectacularly better. I have it on DVD, but actually wouldn’t know how to share it on YT….
Our dear and much loved John needs lots of prayers at this time 🙏🙏🙏
At 7:47 I don’t even know what to call that technique. I’m a Aussie and I’ve been listening to John since I was a kid but have never understood how he was so good haha great stuff man love the videos
Bloke's a super star. Not my kinda music but his talent grabs me regardless
I have loved everything from the 60,s to the present John has done. ❤️
I've seen Johnny in concert back in the day & till now, his music is still loved💕
Must check out When he sings when the war is over in Melbourne 2003 when he was a bit older and it’s a Cold Chisel song
I sent a link on IG for his Playing to Win session (The Accoustic Chapel Sessions)
The only version that arguably tops the original.
Little river band 1983 in Melbourne performing reminiscing is a great performance by him:)
He can do it all, bluesy and slow and lovely ballads, and he can absolutely rock it out. Have a look at him singing Playing to Win for something of a different speed. John Farnham was one of the first live concerts I ever saw, back in the 80s. Still one of the best I've ever seen.
Beautiful run down of the song. You really get his vocals, music so well. He's battling cancer at the moment. God bless you John Farnham! Lots of LOVE and LIGHT to you 💛 We are all thinking of you 💫🙏
Saw John in concert a few times.. nothing I mean nothing compares to hearing him see live!! he is absolute singing talent. thank you for appreciating his god gifted talent
He is our boy ❤
My favourite John Farnham is when he sang with Tom Jones on Hey Hey It’s Saturday (an Aussie legendary show for YEARS)
I remember watching that happen live. It was magical and still is.
@@RolandDeschain1 I remember watching that too.
@@RolandDeschain1 - 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🐨🇦🇺
This would have to be one of my favorite John Farnham songs, along with The Voice!
One of my favourite songs of all time
Farnham is a Bloody Aussie Legend. No one equal before and none ever since.
I watch a lot of reaction vids, and you my good Sir are so genuine and honest, it's so obvious you have music in your soul. Keep doing what you are doing, you're awesome.
Good reaction, you are seeing the heart of Australia. The hardest part for these guys is how much emotion and love they put into these performances and how little recognition they get for it, almost (and for some) like Vietnam vets❤️🔥. Brings them back to their core. That’s what your channel exposes for me as a viewer, good work I think you make a lot of people happy
Please have a listen to John singing "Please don't ask me". He is a vocal genius. We are so proud of him in Australia 💖
What a voice!
I love how you appreciate music! I love all types of music that touches my soul, and this is one singer who does that.
Not trying to rub it in mate but I’ve had the pleasure of a front row seat at a Farnham concert.
He has a male backup vocalist who would also give you shivers. Been with John for years.
Goosebumps .. gives us Goosebumps.
Everytime I hear this song still to do this day chills...
That song was for his wife, Jilly. Who, by the way he married when he was 21 and she was 16. 50 years later, still married and in love.
One of my favourite all time songs. I remember him just sitting this on "Hey, Hey it's Saturday", no guitar, no band, no nothing. I would have only been a child but I remember being mesmerised by his performance. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. It's as about a beautiful a love song as your ever going to get. His stripped down voice & emotion brings tears to my eyes. Flawless. They're will never be another him. If he didn't get so much flack for too many "last tours" in retirement he'd still be going. Unfortunately I think he loves his farm & quiet life with horses now to ever get another tour. It's been far too long. I'd recommend watching "The Sound Relief Charity Concert with Coldplay & surprise guest our John Farnham singing his most popular song in Australia. It will give you goosebumps & you will see like no other Australian video can how crazy the live audience went here. It gives me goosebumps & Coldplay has said it was one of the most spectacular moments they've ever played.
im old enough to remember his very first as a teen, Sadie the cleaning Lady!!
@@margueritehann-syme5137 me too lol…
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Simple melody, honest lyrics and a damn good sing!!! My daughters love when I sing them this 'Touch of Paradise' and the Southern Sons mega ballads 'Hold Me in Your Arms' and 'You Were There'. Aussie bands wrote the best ballads.
Check out the Southern Sons tracks. They are amazingly good.
What you just said now about John Farnham and how he has power but doesn't necessarily need to use it, that was amazing, and so true. This song is a passionate song, it's about missing your loved ones, in the feeling you get when you just miss them so badly that it Hurts. I love your passion I appreciate your channel and now a new subscriber. Much love from Queensland Australia 🦘❤
Perfectly stated man, so wonderful to hear an unbiased view of a great, great singer from my home country..
That is why he is loved. He is such a good person with incredible talent. He never stops giving.
I so glad you get to appreciate john as much as Australia.
One of the best love songs ever
John is our National Treasure He has the best voice ive ever heard. Been to all of his concerts he never disappoints, also John has a wicked sense of Humour, all round he is a Great AUSSIE Bloke
l love the respect and admiration you have for other artists.
He is "The voice"!
John always injects such emotion to the lyrics and this song demonstrates it beautifully - just John and a guitar. Was a hit for John when released and popular at his concerts. Beautifully performed. Love that you love our John and his unmistakable talent.
Glad you are enjoying some of our Australian artists. You should also check out Katie Noonan ~Breathe in now. Do the live version it is amazing. She was the singer of a band called George originally. Such a beautiful voice. 🇦🇺
Yes! Good choice.
Absolutely love Katie Noonan!
Hopefully he does a Katie song
I'd love to see him check out Peta Morris too, Sound of Waking Up with Paul Mac would be a good one
I love John farnham since the 80's
Makes me wanna cry
Love seeing the emotion on your face when John does something that only he can do . Love your work dude , keep it coming 👊👊
Not only is Johnny Farnham the greatest male vocalist of all time, with a vocal range that blows almost any other vocalist away, but this song is simply beautiful and it makes me well up whenever I hear it .. one of my favourite songs ever sung 💙
This is absolutely my favourite John Farnham song of all time, ever. Singing it loud in the car is the best! ☺
John has never watched his performances! He's so humble. He is very loved here in Australia ❤❤🌏🪐🌕🙏🐦🇦🇺🌺👣😎🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🏡🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Here in Australia he is known as John “The voice” Farnham
Loving your reviews man. I grew up with this music as an Aussie kid in the 80s and 90s. It’s so nice to hear it fresh through you.
One of the best and only songs he wrote himself. That’s why he sings it from the heart. Beautiful song. 🐐
I remember him talking about this song, he wrote about his wife being at home and he's on tour...its in the lyrics of the song❤
Im an Aussue and at the age of 8 i was taken to my first concert that happened to be John Farnham. at 41 i still get goose bumps hearing him sing. Once of Australia's treasures.
I absolutely love your reaction to John’s songs, the control, the raw emotion, even saying you were close to tears … so was I ❤😅
Just addicted to listening to John Farnham
Along with what everyone else has said, when he sings ACDC, Long way to the top as the final song of his concert, it rocks! Absolutely the goat!! I'd love for him and Barnsey to do another duet!!!! ❤❤❤
Such a beautiful song
Trust me brother I’ve seen John a few times live and believe me my friend his voice is so very very good live. Please don’t be scared to go down the rabbit hole with Cold Chisel. You’ll love everything they have in there music catalog
One of my all time Favorites from John Farnham as it really cuts so deep when one is really feeling down etc. He is a Master Singer a real Fair Dinkum Aussie Legend. Thanks so much for posting this and giving your love to it :-).
A once in a lifetime singer
I hope people appreciate what John Farnham brought to the music industry
This man was a master of his craft the absolute control of his voice is amazing 👍
For yet another style to John’s incredible repertoire, his song “Chain Reaction” is great, really fun & upbeat
I love that you love him. We are so proud of him here in Australia. I saw you on the news clip too. Thanks for helping John Farnham feeling a bit better during his recovery. Much love from Queensland Australia 🦘💜
Full control of his voice. That was on an old show called Hey, Hey It’s Saturday.
One of my favorite songs ever - it's so heartfelt and beautiful
