    This is a fun challenge and I've done it for several years. It feels good to ensure I'm using what I have and I also enjoy seeing what other cooks come up with to use what they have. Yesterday, I inventoried my refrigerator to get ready. I look forward to watching your videos throughout the challenge.

      I'm going to go through my refrigerator today, as well as my main kitchen pantry. I'll be thinking of recipes I can make with what I have on hand. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

    No! I'm not ready. haha. But! I am ready to see what you guys come up with. I hope that J. stocked up on his coffee creamer or you might catch him stalking that cooler aisle at the market in disguise. Since before thanksgiving i've felt like a chicken being chased by the hatchet man. Not enough hours in the day or night and now kind of sad the holidays are over. Hey you two...I hope your Christmas was filled with all the love and blessings you could handle and I pray your New Year is all you've prayed for. ❤

      Thank you! ❤️
      Him and his creamer! 🙄 I did allow a small budget for dairy and fresh fruit this year. This will give him his grocery store fix. I hope!
      Last year's challenge was just that, A CHALLENGE! He is always my biggest obstacle. I could spend my year not shopping, but for him, it's pure joy.
      May God richly bless you and yours in all areas of your life throughout the new year and beyond! 🥰

    You are so smart, Julie. Using what you have and then replenishing from your garden. I'll be watching and can't wait to see what you and Joe "cook" up! Happy New Year! Keep on keepin' on!

    I'm excited about the challenge this year. Because of our current situation, I'm going to foodbanks to supplement my small grocery budget. I'm continuing to can Broths, potatoes & meat to cut down on food waste. First 2 days have gone well. Cleaning out the fridge & baking. Love it. Thank you for sharing.

      Oh, Kathleen! You are doing such a great job! I will be the first to say that this challenge is not as easy as it sounds. Thus, the word "challenge" in the name. I have times where I struggle with staying on track, but there is no fail in this challenge! It's meant to bring awareness to all of us. I love the creativity and community it brings out. Thank you for being a part of this! ❤️

    I'll be keeping you company again this year - £20 per month for fresh veggies, I have a 1/2 freezer as I'm home alone. Some freeze dried veggies and frozen fruits to make things more interesting.

    My grandma had a sign in her kitchen that said waste not want not. Eastern Ohio. Always thought it was German origin because that was their heritage but not sure. You sure don't hear that much these days! Thanks for the video. I am doing the challenge too!

      Thank you for stopping by! I hope you subscribed. "Waste not, want not," and "If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing well" were the two sayings I heard the most while growing up. My mother raised 6 children, as my dad was a long-haul truck driver, so he was gone a lot. My mother was #13 of 15 children. She knows all about how to be frugal and to work hard at making things stretch and last. These are the things I have gleaned from her. I am passionate about passing these things along to my subscribers. 💞

      @@JulieKeeperofMyHome sounds like we have a few things in common besides our name !. I suppose that is why I enjoy your videos. Not too many I know have done things the old fashioned ways but a lot of it is coming back around. My parents and grandparents roots were in Amish country on a farm and those are some of my best memories. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.

    Will you be making a meal plan before or just going to be winging it?

    • @JulieKeeperofMyHome
      @JulieKeeperofMyHome  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Sara! I think maybe a bit of both. I'm a planner, but Joe's more of a "last-minute let's have this" kind of guy.
      I'm actually going through our food stores today so that I can get an idea of what meals I can put together this week. Are you doing the challenge? Happy New Year!
