Here's one you missed: The Traveller of Tau Alpha C. In "Journey's End" TNG, The Traveller had assumed the form of Lakanta and later reverted to his natural form.
i just realized something, the compound used to give the varient changelings their new abilities is named salomium, as in salome jens, the actress who played the female changeling on ds9. how did i not catch that before or during picard season 3 or the ups and downs for that season
I did always find it mildly annoying that the Changelings were generally spoken of as if they were the only shapeshifting aliens Starfleet had ever encountered - when we know there have been numerous. Good video!
For Item 2: There's also the "dog" that Tendi created in "Star Trek: Lower Decks" Episode 1x07. At first it looked like an ordinary dog, but soon it was revealed to be able to take on any shape (including a dog with a spider configuration, and a cube) but only changes when Tendi isn't there to see him.
3:50 AW COME ON MAN! This is like Voyager's version of THAT Fullmetal Alchemist episode (either show). Man, I was feeling so very not-horrible 5 seconds ago. For those who don't know, think Tuvix, except Tuvok is 4 years old and Neelix is an actual dog.
definitely don't count 8472 as a Shapeshifter since they were basically the equivalent of being surgically altered and the isomorphic congestions in order to maintain the altered state. It's not like they could just change form naturally
I Really liked the Allasomorphs. I envisioned the Dauphin's heritage was a mixed from parentage from the darkest spectrum of light and the brightest spectrum of light. The particular color of the spectrum had nothing to do with ethics but merely being. Rather than attempting to dominate and eliminate the other, joining cost her parents their lives but brought forth Salia to be nurtured by the chosen governess.
What about the goofy little finger puppets that took human and cat form in Catspaw? BTW I don’t consider salt vampires as shapeshifters at all. They just manipulate people’s perceptions of them. Finally: Holographic/Photonic Lifeforms like The Doctor can certainly change if needed. It’s just a skin.
If we are being loosey-goosey with the term 'shapeshifter' and including appearance changing with technology. Much like Species 8472. Then Barash from the TNG episode Future Imperfect might be considered one.
It likely wouldn't be as nice as you think. Usually shape shifters tend to not be trusted. As an example, in the DC Universe in the 30th Century there are Durlans. They are able to take on the appearance of any one/thing they encounter. Because of that ability they are usually distrusted by many people. Part of it is that most Durlans are xenophobic and few leave their home planet.
And I wonder why McFly was on the tombstone at the start of the video, next to the sex ghost. Was that really in the show - or was it Tom. There's some funny stuff in this video.
I assumed the caretaker used a projection to appear different. And 8472 was no more a shape-shifting than major Kira or counselor trying whobhad been surgically altered.
@@vepeu Section 31 utilized every effort, and Junior Operatives Data and Geordi, to prevent the greatest poker player ever (Worf) from ever winning again. I can believe most sentient species in the Trek universe are bipedal humanoids. What I can not accept is that so many of them developed a fetish for shoulder pads. 0:34
This is a very subjective topic. There's a lot of "kindas" and "maybe" and "one could say" scenarios. And how did Anya's species from TNG's "The Dauphin" get left out. Oh i see it was tucked into the Silver Blood section nevermind.
Discovery has at least aired, so if you don't like that, that's fine. But you have written off something that hasn't even released yet. So this opinion (even being an opinion) is invalid and absurd.

Of course, the best shapeshifters are the ones we haven't found...
Sounds like something a _shapeshifter_ would say 👀

So does that!

Indeed.
Anyway, see you back at the Great Link.

Jeffrey Combs is not only a Shapeshifter, but also a Traveler.
He might secretly be a Time Lord.

Zygons have a similar issue nowadays

Yep I LOVE Shapeshifters and i myself would definetly be a Vendorian
How come we're overlooking the most obvious shape shifters of them all; the Klingons.

The Kirk copy did not keep the eye color.
In The Savage Curtain, the Excalbians disguised themselves as rocks but revealed themselves to be rock-like beings.
Shapeshifters.

God damn I love Sam Richardson. Can’t wait to see him trekking about..
"SALOMEUM"? As in Salome Jens, who played the 'female' changing?

Gary Sevens cat may well have been one of the other known shape shifters.

Fun one, thanks
I totally read that as sh*tposters, and not shapeshifters, at first. Not even watching YT is safe with a migraine. 😅
There's also the Breen who shift from solid to liquid.
6:23 then later on data says the Warp core produces ( I forget the exact amount ) 60 Petajoules/ Exa joules of energy which is above Terawatts .
Honestly, I hope there's going to be a Founder Cadet in the upcoming Star Trek Academy.

Im good with Windows Movie Maker if that's any use?
An argument could also be made for sentient holograms being classified as shapeshifters.
Certainly the photonic life forms from "Bride of Chaotica"
they are not a species.
Cats are definitely shapeshifters. Shapeshifters constructed entirely of gravity and knives.
Edit: But you can torture the crew BY playing the banjo.
Thanks. 🖖🏻
Why is Alan Alda on that list?
Where?

Oh my god, I hope they can get IMAN to do a voiceover!
Me too! hat she do any Trek part again. Still waiting for Iman to appear as celebrity guest at a convention, way over due!
Good luck trying to find staff who can look at Sean Ferrick for long periods of time. Pay them very well.
Or they could start wearing sunglasses (at night)!
The young blonde allasamorph version of Anya was hot as hell !

Earlier odo said he modelled his hair on the scientist who studied him which I always thought was a cardassian and they then changed it to a bajoran
It would be a interesting plot twist pre-Odo shapeshifters were actually founders of the Dominion
