Okay, I give you an example of how powerful an actor Sir Anthony Hopkins is. I thought this was Sir Anthony at an actual AA meeting! I had no idea he was an actor delivering lines in a movie! You don't get more realistic, believable, convincing, and authentic than that. IMHO, he is better than the great Olivier, Brando, or many others. I place him in the hallowed company of comparable thespians as Peter O'Toole, Michael Caine, Dame Judy Dench, and Dame Maggie Smith. His voice is hypnotic. Bravo!

I would say that a great actor doesn't say the lines as if they were his own thoughts. He says them as if they were the own thoughts of the character. I think the problem with Hopkins is that he does what you say. They sound like lines AH actually thinks. There are some comments down below that argue whether the scene is from a movie or from an AA meeting. What creates this confusion? The fact that Antony Hopkins is often indistinguishable from the characters he plays. They become him rather than the other way around.

This is the same with me ☺, But on this one , It was not until I started reading the comments (and I’m still not sure) that I realized he was acting. Everything about his delivery is so genuine. Great acting is simply about being real and vulnerable. I have always loved Anthony Hopkins for he has always stated the things of life purely with is words and acting. I am watching from Lincolnshire England. Complement of the season🎄

You touched a place in my heart Anthony. My eldest daughter has rejected me since she was around 12 years old and she won't tell me why. I love her with all my heart even though she's humiliated me and made me feel "less than" for the past 40 plus years. I pray every day and a few weeks ago during my prayer, I heard these words..... "You can't have everything." Somehow those few words eased my heart and gave me acceptance. I'm grateful for all the love I've been given in my life and that is enough.

This dis-ease is progressive whether in or out. And this thing called life? It's a bus stop. Life happens while I wait for the bus. But it sure is easier with the wisdom of the Elder Statesmen. I'm a member of a 12-step fellowship and I have heard thousands of "shares" - although this was a scene from a movie, it none-the-less is powerful and will resonate with anyone in recovery. Not just in the words spoken but the way it was spoken. Whoever wrote it understands the fundamental necessity of absolute, complete moral honesty required to recover in any 12-step fellowship. Mr. Hopkins understands too. Every "good" share should embarrass the person sharing to some degree. If it doesn't, you're not being totally honest. Every day I try to practice the principles in all my affairs.

God comes at us on a level we understand. The words you see is just a language each understands. Sone call it profanity, ugly, sinful worlds. But God's timing is perfect. He'll speak the language we will hear and get out attention and tell us what is next in our life. It's the only way we get the message. After all they are just words. I wouldn't even know the same words in another language. But when it's time for us to listen to God and what we must do it will happen. Just like it did with Jonah. I been on this situation myself and something tells me it's coming again. My life changed like an on off switch. Everything I do today is new. It's foreign to me. I'm sure I'm going to get a message. At least he's warning me it's coming. We are all on different paths. Like on a mountain you go west I go east we all learn different lessons we supposed to for ourselves on our life's path. But we reach the top together learning different things that we were meant to learn and meet Jesus and move on hopefully. Just my opinion as an older man today at 63.
    Love & light!
