    Thanks for the video. With the cold nights I was trying to figure out how to turn my 15yo Daikin ducted system on from upstairs without having to go all the way downstairs to the kitchen. You inspired me to try the wireless controller and It was an easy install. Also upgraded the downstairs controller to the same one you upgraded in your other video. 👍

    Thanks for the video, we have just installed the same thing. I was wondering if each time you use the Airbase app on your phone do you need to select the Daikin network? Our installer told us this and its difficult in a larger house to switch to this network as the adaptor is downstairs & its network is often not received from upstairs. We thought it would link to the network in the house & not have its own network.

    • @callitagain
      @callitagain 3 года назад

      I've done this before, it connects to the home network so you don't need to connect to the daikin specific one each time. Obviously, this unit needs to have wireless reachability to your existing wireless network for this to work.

    Thanks for this video. Considering this to get my Daikin wireless enabled so I can connect it to my home automation system. Why did you go all the way to the unit in the ceiling as opposed to simply leave it next to the BRC remote controller? Even though its probably low maintenance but wouldn't it be more convenient to have it easily accessible?
    Also were you able to get the Airbase from Daikin or did you have to go to an installer? Understand it's about $300

    • @GarethOakes

      You can piggy back the P1/P2 wires from existing controller to Airbase. However, if you want the zones to work with Airbase, you have to use the Daikin zone controller.

    Hi Gareth, I'm guessing you can't control the zones and you'll need to that manually?
    If that's the case, I'm wondering if getting the zone controller remote (rather than that navease one you install) would've been a better option as airbase would control thermostat/fan as well as zones dampers as well.
    Also, for my install, will piggy backing off the wired remote (like you had it at the beginning of the video) be OK as a long term install? I was planning on installing that airbase unit right next to the remote anyway so it'll save me getting into the roof.

    • @GarethOakes
      @GarethOakes  3 года назад +2

      Yes I've toyed with the idea of getting Daikin zone remote, so airbase can adjust zones. It is a complicated install as you have to replace the current zone controller. Piggy backing works perfectly fine BTW 👍

    • @callitagain
      @callitagain 3 года назад

      @@GarethOakes thanks. I was thinking it should be as easy as finding the damper voltage from the existing switches (24 or 230) and then mount the zone controller remote, connect p1 and p2 from existing navease remote, then simply connect the zone switches installed today to the new zone controller remote.
      A quick look at the install guide also seems to indicate that you need to bring ANE from the indoor unit back to the zone controller remote but that seems the hardest part. I wonder if ANE "needs" to come from the indoor unit directly or if it can be powered from any source to save me the hassle of running a new power cable.

    • @GarethOakes
      @GarethOakes  3 года назад +2

      @@callitagain When I looked into it I had the 24V zone damper motors. I would need to remove existing remote (wall panel) and replace with Daikin BRC24Z8B. The kit for that includes the wall panel remote and internal control box. The control box is to be mounted adjacent to the A/C indoor unit and connected via P1/P2. A second set of wiring (not P1/P2) then connects from the control box down to the wall panel remote. The control box also connects to each zone damper motor. All power for the BRC24Z8B remote and control box comes from the A/C indoor unit, as I understood.
      Interested if you get any further than that as I am thinking about doing this upgrade for next summer so I can automate my zones.

    Hi - I have a Daikin FXTB12AXVJU indoor unit I'm trying to get a wired adapter to connect to. I need an S21 port, but my PCB (5wmy15jr) does not have this connector. It has a CN_WIRED connector which the service manual calls the wireless features gateway port - but it's a 6 pin JST connector. Anyone else having the same issues find a solution? It doesn't make sense they would put a CN_WIRED port there just for the heck of it without having an adapter to connect it to, however I see everything compatible with every other model BUT the FTXB series.
    I've purchased 2 interface adapters both have the 5 pin cable but not JST. The wireless adapter BRP072A43 installation instructions show a "TYPE A - HA PCB adapter" section. Any idea of what adapter I need to purchase?
    I also see a KRP067A41E adapter for an FTX but not FTXB - it converts the CN_DISPLAY port from a button, IR Remote and LED to the interface which would make perfect sense but I want to make sure it's the correct one.

    • @GarethOakes
      @GarethOakes  2 года назад

      I think so, it looks like that indoor unit supports the P1/P2 wires that are required. I assume this because the manual for your model shows the BRC1C62 wall controller which uses the same P1/P2 wires that Airbase also uses. You can check with Daikin themselves if you want confirmation.

    Hi
    ju1ceju1ce
    Thanks for the video and the walkthrough. I have a Nav Ease controller for my Daikin 18kw system. Do i need to connect the wifi to my Nav Ease controller and also to the main unit? I am not replacing my Nav Ease controlller, i just want to add the wifi to use the Airbase app? So do i need to add the wifi adaptor to my main unit and the controller both or can i just connect it to the main unit directly?
    Can you please explain that so i can understand properly?

    • @ashleyw8116
      @ashleyw8116 4 года назад +1

      In the video the guy only connected it directly to the Nav Ease to show us how it worked, then when he connected it to the indoor unit in the roof he disconnected it from the Nav Ease and connected it to the P1/P2 terminals on the indoor unit. At no point was it connected to both.
      Connecting to the P1/P2 terminals on the indoor unit is the way the manual says to connect it. But seeing as the two controllers work in parallel if it is easier for you there is nothing wrong with daisy chaining the Airbase off the Nav Ease like he did initially. That is how my place is done because it was easier for me to get to the back of my controller (I have the 8 zone controller rather than the Nav Ease), then getting my body down to where the indoor unit is located.
      Whilst not your question the only thing you cannot do is add an Airbase where you already have two controllers. If you want to add an Airbase you need to remove one of those controllers. To that end the one thing I really don't like about the Airbase is how ugly it is. I understand that it is designed to be placed in the roof, but if it looked a lot nicer it could go on a wall without it looking so crap.

    • @ashleyw1393
      @ashleyw1393 4 года назад

      ju1ceju1ce right you are. I was thinking of the older unit which they said to mount to the indoor unit even giving double sided tape to so that.
      That said I am not sure why this one couldn’t go in the roof. It should be able to handle the environment, all it needs is good wifi, seeing as most ceilings of gyproc and peoples home wifi routers are Omni directional it shouldn’t matter if you have it in the ceiling. Not hacking a shot at you but in some ways a walk in robe may be worse as the signal may have more walls to go through.
