Edgar Winter (vocals, keys & sax) is guitar master Johnny Winters younger brother, two of THE most talented humans ever. I saw Johnny Winter in concert in the early 80's....what a fucken epic show that was. Not many people under 45 even know of these two.

I saw Edgar Winter in concert in the mid 70s, just awesome! Then in 2017, my son took me to a concert for my birthday - Edgar Winter, Alice Cooper and Deep Purple. He was blown away! He told me that I grew up with the best music ever! I had to agree!

Johnny was the first non-African American inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. The bassist here, Tommy Shannon, went on to play with Stevie Ray Vaughn in the 80s. This is a 1959 song from John Loudermilk.

Johnny and his younger brother Edgar Winter were nurtured at an early age by their parents in musical pursuits. Both were born with albinism and couldn't go outside in the sun and were legally blind. Their father was a Mississippi native; John Dawson Winter Jr. was also a musician who played saxophone and guitar and sang at churches in the South. Both played multiple instruments. Johnny was a blues/rock guitar Icon, and Egar was simply a genius at everything he touched. Both powerful talents and musicians. Thanks for putting these guys on; it's greatly appreciated. Talk about blue-eyed soul or white soul - these guys are clear. You can feel the gospel church in their soulful sound.

That young guy on bass started out playing with a Texas blues legend Johnny Winter and later played with another blues legend Stevie Raye Vaughan. It's Tommy Shannon of Double Trouble.

    Awesome reaction! 🤟
Way too much talent in one family. Johnny was one of the most respected blues guitarists in history (his use of the slide is legendary), while Edgar was amazingly talented on multiple instruments, as well as vocals. If you check out Edgar's live performance of "Frankenstein," you'll find that he can do more than "just" play the keys and sax.
I actually saw Edgar (with Bad Company!) back in the early '70s, in my second concert ever, but sadly, never saw Johnny. I would have loved to have seen them perform together, as they did here.

Check out the version of this song from the Edgar Winter White Trash live Roadwork album. It's fantastic. It's Edgar with his touring band. This version you just watched was Edgar playing with his brother Johnny's group.

Nothing like seeing that performance for the first time! You hit it with the gospel comment. The brothers incorporated all sorts of genres into their music, and gospel was definitely one. Another song you should check out by Edgar is Dying to Live (ruclips.net/video/opGVGKw_lDU/видео.html). Most beautiful song you've never heard. It was sampled in Tupac's posthumous track Runnin'. And that's just a start; the brothers had long and distinguished careers. Edgar is still playing live and just won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album, which was a tribute to his brother.

I feel Edgar Winter's best work is on the albums "They Only Come Out At Night" and "Shock Treatment". On those albums he mixed lots of pop into his sound and also had the great Dan Hartman helping him.

Albion brothers from Texas. They are legally blind. They close their eyes due to the lifht sensitivity. Couldn't play outside like other children because of the heat, so they took up music. The bass player Tommy Shannon went on to be in Double Trouble with Stevie Ray Vaughan.
