They are even better now that they added a 3rd lead guitarist. I saw this tour, and my son took me to see them Sept. 22, 2022. Im not sure if me still watching them 40 years later makes me old...or them.

Best live band ever. They are called flying V guitars. They just looked cool and were big with 80s metal bands.

Dave Murray is playing the GIBSON EXPLORER of some year. People like the explorer design, however their body size is so big (They cannot fit into a typically guitar case), and they are so heavy, that people have moved on. Gibson makes shit for guitars now anyway. That would have been an early model back before GIBSON went down the drain around 2014-onward. Very versatile guitar. Can be used in numerous styles of music.

Sure, if you want the amateurs, as they don't hold a candle to the might Maiden, who formed on Xmas day 25th of December 1975 and have produced 17 great albums, which is better than anyone else;-)

@@azzajames7661 @azzajames7661 lol... At least Metallica has a Album chosen to be preserved in the Library of Congress. Their 1986 "Master of Puppets" album.... guess it is a feat of amateurs who still sell out arenas worldwide.
In 2015, Master of Puppets became the first metal recording to be selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

@@davidw7 Lol like that is a good thing, as politicians suck and are NOT smart in anyway, lol
If the Beatles, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Who, or even Iron Maiden,...ect were American they would be in there in their place;-)

@@azzajames7661I think you are mixing the controversies of Iron Maiden in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or not and what the USA Library of Congress is ALL ABOUT and not part of the Smithsonian institutions yet they have Libraries and it is far larger than musical groups of the 70s and 80s.... Is not only about merely American groups.
It houses over 171+million things it holds of human society in general as some believe it is the largest Library of info in the world....even all tweets ever made it has though its billions never can be sorted thru at this time... won't be anything from me since I never was on Twitter or the Musk era as X which probably will end or the whole social media entity will.
Surely you know most of our leaders and those we see as the US Founding Fathers were all educated intellectuals born in Great Britain. They were not merely good-ole-boys or military people of their era.... John Adams started the first Library of Congress and Thomas Jefferson appointed its first Librarian when it was merely a Library of books in the Capitol that was burned by the British in the war of 1812. Jefferson donated his own Library collection of he had and READ in his own home that stands yet today Monticello to restart a new one.
You might want to look up what all it is about, what it preserves and realize having merely Metallica's album in 2015 chosen among 25 each year is far from ALL this Library holds.
Thank God the US Congress does not vote on things... and what to cancel LOL.... and burn the place down rather than compromise and follow a wannabe dictator declared a messiah/savior who will die as we all will smf as with many who came and will be gone too...... some will be in history as an emperor that had no-clothes as a bible story goes.....

@@davidw7The primary function of the Library of Congress is to serve the Congress. In addition, the library provides service to government agencies, other libraries, scholars, and the general public.
The Librarian of Congress is the presidentially-appointed head of the agency and has legal authority to make rules and regulations governing the Library of Congress and to accept to receive gifts or bequests of money for immediate disbursement in the interest of the Library, its collections, or its service.
So, it is political as the president chooses who is in charge. Again, if metallica weren't American, it wouldn't be in the Library, where more important and better bands like Black Sabbath, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Who, Iron Maiden should be😉
I prefer Creedence Clearwater Revival and would have them above the sell-out metallica😜

The lead guitar before the question about the guitar body was a Gibson Explorer. Still super popular. James Hetfield and Lizzy Hale play Explorers today still. I don’t like em that much cuz they weigh a metric ton. 3 hours carrying that thing have my neck cooked.
Also, this was the first time the crowd heard the song too. The song was released either 2 days before or 2 days after this show and Bruce was brand new in the band so this crowd was experiencing the Iron Maiden which was THE best live band ever for the 1st time. They had their whole face melted and that’s why this show is called “The Beast at Hammersmith”

Those are Ibanez, I don't remember the exact name of the model, but you can easily find out on Google. The guitar body shape you can still call it explorer style.

    "They seem relaxed."
That was one of the things that drew me to this band when I was a kid. I hated, hated, the horrible, cheezy, stereotypical show boating of metal bands of that era.
Don't know who started it, I suspect Kiss played a role, but that lame show boating took off with the rise of "hair metal" or LA type glam metal that put more emphasis on ridiculous clown make up, purple metallic trench coats, lace rags tied to everything, than music. How all of that crap became attached to a genre like metal never made sense to me.
Much later they acquired another guitarist who does all the lame show boating. He's talented player but I honestly see him as a 3rd wheel they don't want to fire because he's probably a solid guy and Steve Harris sees no reason to get rid of him. 3 guitarists? Really?
Anyways, I like to think that they never really got into all that prancing about is partly why they have been a respected metal band all these years. They resisted some of the worst trends and kind of stuck to their guns as far as music.

I agree with you.....until you bad mouth yannik. The guy loves the music, and that's what your seeing on stage. The lads having fun together, and he's anything but a 3rd wheel lol! Awful take bro, but you're entitled to it.
