I know this has been covered by others, but none of them can beat Roberta Flack. This one is the best! Her voice is so beautiful. Inspired by Don McLean!

This song is such a classic! Much loved. Be sure to hit "Where is the Love" (1972), "Feel Like Making Love" (1974), and "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (1969).
Dionne Warwick is not quite the same, but in the progressing timeline somewhat similar. She had 60s mainstream hits like "What the World Needs Now is Love" (1965, by Burt Bacharach), "I Say A Little Prayer" (1967, Bacharach), "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" (1968, Bacharach), "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" (1969, Bacharach), and "Then Came You" (1974, with the Spinners).

This was a huge hit when I was a little kid and it is one of the few albums my parents bought for themselves in the 70s. Most of their stuff was from the late 50s and early 60s. It wasn't a double album but it had a double sleeve so it opened up like a double album which just gives you that much more real estate to do something cool with. And when you folded it out you had this long photo of her posing on the black concert grand piano in her black dress.
Definitely a slow dance song 😊😊

This song was written by Laurie Lieberman based on her reaction to attending a Don McLean concert. I heard Don back in the day and he is magical live. His biggest hit was American Pie. But,yes, the Fugies covered this song.

Roberta Flack had alot of good songs but two of my favorites are "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and this song. This was a very popular song in the 70's.

You should give a listen to the 70's group TAVARES. Their lead singer recently passed away. Start off with "Heaven Must be Missing an Angel".
