Do you know Tigran Hamsayan? He's an amazing Armenian pianist. I'm no expert, but he plays Armenian folk fused with jazz; it's beautiful. I love driving to it... anyway! Tigran is a fan of Meshuggah, and I feel like I can hear their influence in his music. During the pandemic, he uploaded some at home play-through, and one of them he edits in him throwing up the horns. If anyone comes across this, please check out "The Call Within".
Gareth I think he means that they were already in such strong form. And they haven’t even released Obzen yet which many consider to be one of their best albums
I never thought they would EVER play anything from it until I saw them live and they surprised me with not only ‘in death is life’ and ‘in death is death’ but they even included minds mirrors. I fucking lost it, lol.
Especially not in 1995. They are godly at live performances too. Saw them headlining for the first time back in April. It was truly one of the best shows I've seen and I've been to 100's of concerts probably. I was thinking they are getting pretty old and I really wanted to see them before they quit. Sad thought but they started in 1987 but they still play perfectly and didn't miss one note. They are not really that big in Sweden and I can't understand why. The only band I can think of being as influential as Meshuggah is Pantera but honestly Meshuggah took it to the next level
@@dronmusicsound one riff is entirly random. Took me a week of trying play it consistently for 4 hours to get it down. Didnt play it for one day and forgot
I was there, basically looked like an in-house sound guy got shoved off the controls by one of the Meshuggah crew... it made a HUGE difference on the day!
3 songs but nearly 20 mins of a set. Going to their shows now is insane. The lighting is on point. Considered an actual member of the band while on tour. He's that good.
I was there! Still remember it so well. Everyone who had been vaguely near the front came out with mud/dust covering their faces and teeth from how crazy everyone was going 😆 Great set!
I first saw them when they toured with Tool then they came back a year or so later and played with Strapping Young Lad. A tornado came in through town that same day but they didn't cancel the show. I went and about 30 other people were there to watch them.
How to enjoy meshuggah- first- follow haake groove especially bass than his snare and cymbals work Secondaly- add those drum groove upon fred and haeg guitar wankry, just like a layer of cake With a pinch of bass 😀
I like to believe that this live footage was not edited. The cameraman just teleported everywhere against his will listening to this.
😂
My guy stoned af. what an epic thought
That is epically underrated AF right there
this is how particles behave at quantum level
Meshuggah are hyper-dimensional aliens that bend space and time.
Director: so which camera angle do you want?
Meshuggah: Yes
Or maybe todays light operator was a video editor before? 😂
Camera angles pulled at random
Jordan Barnett spit out my beer, so accurate
Seizure inducing chaos
I would like your comment but it's on 33.
Sounds great but it's unwatchable
Stolen comment
It would be a sin to never see Meshuggah live. On my bucket list.
I saw them open for Slayer in 99. Huge fan since that night.
Not too hard. Last time i saw them was a tour in support of Koloss and they headlined and Animals as Leaders opened! It was only $25 dollars GA
Same here . I need to see this band . Been to over 200 concerts in my life. I have to
Absolute truth
So happy I saw them right before Fredrick stopped playing live
Imagine being a young band on this lineup and getting to stand side of stage for this. It'd blow my fucking mind.
They are so unique! It’s like a metal band ate a jazz band and shit out Meshuggah
Nice!
It's kinda literally true as well.

Oh my god, that live performance of future breed machine is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life.
And then 3 years later Obzen comes out... just try and wrap your head around that.
greatpower30 fuck
Gareth I think he means that they were already in such strong form. And they haven’t even released Obzen yet which many consider to be one of their best albums
@@liamranby1480 they’ve been in great form right from day one. Even contradictions collapse and their early demos kick the ass of most metal bands
@@liamranby1480 they were already LEGEND-WAIT-FOR-IT-ARY in the metal world....and no I can't wrap my head around that!!!
That’s their prime on the video. After Obzen they started to become older.
Bleed is pinnacle of their work
Imagine how amazing a full Catch 33 set would be. Holy shit.
My personal favorite tbh
Man. I would go insane. I've probably listened to that album more than any of them. Bout time for another "experimental" album!!
I would kill for that, and a full set of Chaosphere
Caosphere would be legend!
I never thought they would EVER play anything from it until I saw them live and they surprised me with not only ‘in death is life’ and ‘in death is death’ but they even included minds mirrors. I fucking lost it, lol.
No one in a million years could have predicted this was gonna be the future of metal back in those days.

Those rhythms of In Death Is Death are fucking insane!!
Yep
Ye they re nuts af. how they manage to remember all of it

@@OHBJJ9634 yea that riff is just insane, have heard the song many many times and i usually figure it out by then, but the notes are just random asf
@@OHBJJ9634 you talking about the part at 7:42? I’ve been able to discern a pattern for the rest but that section seems totally random.
16:07 I cant believe this solo is completely improvised. Fredrik is a fuckin LEGEND.
What’s so great about it?
15:49 Watch how the drums engages Jens' demon mode.
I was there! One of the best days of my life
man wish i were you
maaaan wish i was in your place!!!
but i had only 5 years old that time lol.
I hate you.
9:15 is one of my favorite meshuggah riffs, it's so cool.
Have you heard Tesseract? This groove is an example of what they do a lot of...
Best Live Band Ever
Awesome MVS dillinger ...
Gojira comes quite close, maybe even at the same level, except lighting of course
@@sammcdodovaes_1877
They also have good lightning.
13:03 the sound guy finally gets out of the shitter
I was there, basically looked like an in-house sound guy got shoved off the controls by one of the Meshuggah crew... it made a HUGE difference on the day!
Still no kick though
LMAOOOOOOOOO
Tomas Haake playing Future Breed Machine: "Needs more bass drum"
....Then writes Bleed.

8:05 - 8:40 OH MY GOD. I think I would have fainted from all this heaviness.
Actually 8:10-8:40 is sick. Very heavy
That bridge section of Straws Pulled at Random is very un-Meshuggah. Almost new wave 80s inspired, love it!
10:30 Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
REACHING CRITICAL MASS, WEE WOO WEE WOO
Insane camera attack!!!
OH MY GOD THAT SNARE IS SO DOPE
Always feel more whole after watching this. What a live band!
Lol, that's one way to put it!
In death is death sounds like a hardcore jazz tune!
So sick
Straws is a pretty sick opener.
If you didn't know... it would be so jaw-dropping.
This is one of my favourite sets.
Jens is fucking amazing in this set
They captured it well. Live you cant tell. They are so tight
I was there! Still remember it so well. Everyone who had been vaguely near the front came out with mud/dust covering their faces and teeth from how crazy everyone was going 😆
Great set!
I miss the headbanging, and the solos, and the early 2000s FUCK! Take me back in a dream!
Bruh, it's started kicking back off...
Future Breed Machine was amazing
I first saw them when they toured with Tool then they came back a year or so later and played with Strapping Young Lad. A tornado came in through town that same day but they didn't cancel the show. I went and about 30 other people were there to watch them.
It was actually not a tornado, just their soundcheck.
What!? Are you freaking serious!? 30 people at a SYL/Meshuggah show!?!?
All I'm gonna say is: you've never seen Tomas Haake and batman in the same room
Amazing! They were the first band on and they only gave them 20mins but they fucking used it!
I feel sorry for the bands that followed lol
fucken love this band man wow
davian moua me too i now that feel of uniqueness fuck yeah complexity -brutality
Very happy to say I was here for this! I didn't really have a clue about Meshuggah before download but needless to say I became a fan!
The bass guitar sound ! OMG 🤩
Camera guy somehow couldn’t get a single shot of Fredrik’s blistering solo from future breed machine
Fun Fact: This live recording was included in the "Optics" disc, from the re-released version of the album "Nothing" in 2006.
Future breed machine is such a gift to metal, and the way they play it here feels like trying to outrun a train
17:32 Fredrik.. holy shit
It was too graphic, they couldn't show it
@@siccbastard4580 woulda been considered pornography
Nothing beats those wild Frederik solos leading into a brutal riff
first time i heard of this band and when i saw this live and its still the best footage of them live in my eyes.
That riff at 10:45 had me mesmerized for weeks now, lol. Meshuggah fuckin rock!!!
fav riff of all time up to this day. doesn't get more jazzy in metal than this.
I think I have a problem, I’m genuinely addicted to this video
i miss watching this on mushrooms back in 2008, felt like an appropriate soundtrack to how my brain felt at the time 🤣
9:05 FUCKING GOOSEBUMPS SINCE 2006 WHEN I'VE SEEN THIS VIDEO FOR THE FIRST TIME
15:59 And thus, he was "escorted" by security.
Their rig rundown for their tone is a metal smeltery that is cranking out steel bars at a polyrithmic rate.
10:14the most abrasive camera i have witness
LOL
They're the Future Djent Machine.
They were like "Feeling kinda cute, might release Bleed in a couple years"
I don't know if it's reverb or echoing but Jens' vocals are absolutely demonic in this performance
Great!!! Pravus, bleed make me feel so far...
I saw Meshuggah in Chicago about ten years ago. Decapitated opened. One of the best shows I've ever seen!
damn, I'm such a sucker for the guitar's synced head banging moments, Meshuggah does that best just like everything else.
Great band 🥁!
Meshuggah playing at a festival.you don't need to see anyone else.
The people are not dancing like any of those "dance to meshuggah" videos.
Lame joke alert: 8:50 : this is Tomas Haake's biggest fan.
I had to resist facepalming hahaha
AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Ajajajajahahahahahahajajajajahhajahahahaa fuck
This performance is the best!
An Important band.
This is absolute gold!
I NEED EXQUISITE MACHINERY OF TORTURE live so damn bad...it's one of their all time greats and they never play it
Yep, I can't find any Corridor of Chameleons either...
Best song from chaosphere
I e rewatched 17:03 soooooo many times. Heaviest shit ever
My neck isn't even strong enough to bang my head as hard as I want right here...
If I were on stage with Meshuggah, I'd be making silly faces too.
I don’t understand how Fredrick can make sounds that beautiful when he solos
Thanks for a great upload!
I love Catch-Thirty Three so much, but holy damn it is so much better live!!!
Man them line 6 vetas sound good
I was here..
I've got a sudden urge to drink from a horn.

GOATS!!!!!
Opening with Straws is fucking HARD
"WARNING: This video may potentially trigger seizures

they were playing in death is life then switched before the verse
the similarities between this video and a emo teenager's wrists are the fucking terrible cuts.
We should be broadcasting Meshuggah into space to contact intelligent life elsewhere
The SOUND here is absolutely amazing! Catch 33 did not do it for me, but the performance here is better than the album.
Great band, great music.. what the hell MTV cuts on the video id id vid id iddo.. No video director, you can NOT join the band.
