  • Today we check out this CRX9 by Fossari. An Italian-made all-rounder shotgun featuring an adjustable stock and rib.
    After shooting it and getting distracted by experimenting with how the sight picture changes my gun movement, we take a complete look over this gun!
    What do you think?
    Enjoy!

    I am the happy owner of a Fossari crx9 BSR with adjustable XR trigger and the extra prestige wood version as well as a midbead and the optional fiber front bead.
    In the beginning it was necessary to adapt myself to the half-high rib comming from Browning low rib guns. BSR means super adjustable rib (bindella superiore regolabile).
    only the midbead perhaps shouldn't have been done. Otherwise very satisfied with this gun and its quality. Not to be forgotten is the good service from Fossari.
    Happy to see it in a review.

    very interesting review. Your ending comment is very important for people to understand. 24 years ago I bought two over under shotguns being imported by Marocchi Armi . The model 99 was a Perazzi style lock up and a very, very good gun in my opinion. However, they did not do well in the United States, and as such have become very difficult to maintain. I will never buy another gun that has not established itself in the US market. Quality is one thing, but you have to be able to repair it!

    As a poor Kentucky millennial with student loans... Sounds out of reach. However, I like versatility. Is it cheaper than buying multiple, absolutely... So maybe that's just the sticker shock? Anyway I like it. And I agree about the forend.

      There is simply no need to spend that kind of money in this day and age in order to get a significant upgrade in a sporting clays gun. Check out the TriStar Cypher. Adjustable comb, 30 inch barrel, 5 extended chokes, less than $1k out the door.

    Great review on the Fossari……I purchased TWO F.A.I.R. (Fabrica Armi Isadoro Rizzini) shotguns a few years ago. They are both the “Racing” models and one is a ‘flat’ rib and the other is a “mid-rib” (non-adjustable). Both of these guns are 32” barrels, adjustable combs, adjustable triggers. The price point on these models were in the $2700-2900 (USD) and very high quality and workmanship, F.A.I.R. is not a ‘household’ name in this industry and deserves to get more recognition!

    Great review on a gun I've never heard of before. Has some similar features of another well known Italian shotgun, especially the 4-notch adjustable rib. The adjustable rib on this is well made, as is the rest of the gun. The detachable trigger is of super quality, and has coil springs too. In my opinion- its a lot of gun for the money. Thanks again Jonny !!!!!!!!

    I have an adjustable rib shotgun thinking I could use it for trap and sporting but I spend more time screwing around with the rib than shooting 😶What happens is that even after you pattern the gun and know it's at 60/40 or 50/50 when you start missing targets you start playing with the rib because it must be that, it couldn't possibly be you lol. So I eventually decided to buy 1 gun great for trap and another for sporting. Couldn't be happier.

    Like it. 7k new in the USA means I’ll probably stick with 60 year old trap guns for clays though because they are pretty dang sweet as well and are an incredible value if you shop around. Not because I don’t think that would make a great training aid because of the adjustability but because of the current economic realities in the US for the working class deplorables like myself 😁👍🏼👍🏼

    Very cool. Thanks for the great content, as always!
    You, and others, often talk about how great a detachable trigger is. What's lacking, across all of RUclips land, is any content on what to do if you have one. How do you clean it? Should you clean it? How do/should you oil or grease it? What shouldn't be done? What are the differences between various types of detachable triggers?
    Would be very good and informative content.

      Patterning boards are pointless it’s a board that’s standing still your target that your shooting at is way smaller and is flying through the air he should just mess with it see where he hits the the bird the best and just learn it from there

    • @MrCabimero
      @MrCabimero Месяц назад

      @@trapperhoot9364 I respectfully disagree. You're supposed to have a Target on the patterning board that you're shooting at which mimics a bird going straight away from you. being off half a pattern in either direction when shooting straight ahead makes a big difference when you have a crossing bird depending on which direction they are flying.

      @@trapperhoot9364 You are literally the only person that I have ever heard of calling a patterning board pointless. It's like calling the zeroing of a rifle scope as pointless. Ultimately you have to know where the gun is shooting relative to your point of aim.

It is a clean looking gun with just nominal bluing wear, it will need some safety work. So the next gun I'm going to buy is a Browning citori 725 sporting Medallion High Grade in 410. Was wonder if you could tell me how well they shoot , want to get this shotgun with 32 inch barrels. Maybe you could do a review on this shotgun. Thanks very much.

    What does a high rib do for your shooting?

    • @JHruby
      @JHruby Месяц назад

      Advantages of a high rib in the trap and DTL disciplines are that it enables the shooter to see a rising target earlier. In sporting clays many shooters say the high rib blocks out the target less and for a shorter time when swinging through from behind targets. The adjustable rib also enables an additional adjustment to alter the point of impact. Many sporting shooters are discovering that having a gun with a point of impact that's about 80/20 is advantageous. Disabled them to float the target on top of the barrel rather than blotting out the target with the barrel.

  • @martinsteven2643

    Never really understood the concept on an “adjustable”, rib. It would be good to do a video with an expert who could fully explain the concept and then go on the explain how you set one up. Especially if the gun also gas an “adjustable”, comb.
