I bought my all around hunting over under from Browning. I chose the 725 Feather 12 gauge over under with 26 inch barrels. Weighs about 6 pounds and 8 ounces and I use Trulock blackened stainless steel extended ported improved cylinder and improved modified chokes. Can carry all day in the upland fields and is short overall to shoot waterfowl from a blind or layout blind. Mine was $2580 two years ago. Now over $3000 if you can find one.

I hunt waterfowl with the Cynergy Wicked Wing. I love it. The adjustable comb is huge for me. Will shoot it as much as possible, but O/U can be awkward to reload at times in certain blinds. I've been pestering Browning on Insta to come out with this gun in a 20 gauge bec the newer non-toxic loads can be so lethal in sub-gauges.

I went with the CZ USA Sharptail in 20ga. I really enjoy shooting this shotgun in the hunting fields and the skeet fields. The Weatherby Orion SxS is on my list as well. I've really gotten into side-by-sides.

    • @mrsmartypants_1
      @mrsmartypants_1 5 месяцев назад +1

I want a CZ Sharptail also. I’ve never had a SxS. Never even shot one. But when I shoulder one it points so good. I’d actually like an Upland Gun Company Venus model SxS. Gorgeous. Customizable. The company is located in Minnesota and contracts with a Spanish firm. But I can’t justify the cost. Minimum $4,500 and can go all the way to $10,000. The “base” $4,500 is all I want. It’s sweet. And light.

Shoutout to my Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I bought years ago. Glad I picked a good one. Did little research back then but it just appealed to me at a big gun store compared to the competition and price point. Re: Auto safety. No problem for me as this is the only double I’ve ever used. Might want to add Side by Side category in 2024 seem to be more in the market & making a comeback. Last night I saw the new Weatherby SXS side by side in 20ga & 12ga. It has a dip down center rib, then rises back up at the front bead, different. Everything except the wood finish was beautiful, hopefully they will get the finish ironed out & up to their quality standards very soon.

I wonder if you would ever consider doing a series of videos or an occasional video on old shotguns you picked up on the used gun rack at your local stores? I love old guns - my favorite pheasant hunting gun is an Ithaca 37 Featherweight 16 gauge made in 1954 that I bought 25 years ago for the princely sum of $150. I would love to see what someone of your knowledge and expertise makes of an old Remington 1100 or 11-48, a Winchester Model 12, a Browning Auto 5, Ithaca 37, etc.

Dang, new shotgun prices are out of hand! I’d definitely buy used. I’ve bought a near mint Browning Superposed special trap with grade 3-4 wood, 30” barrels recently for under 8. Same with a Franchi international trap and they were priced higher than a Superposed. About 20% the cost of a new car back then. Both amazing hand built, beautiful engraved guns with amazing wood at entry level prices new. Heck I even found a British SxS that’s fully hand engraved for 7. Amazing deals in the used market at the moment if a guy does his homework. Guns of that quality new start at ten grand and they still will be made by a machine 🤷🏽‍♂️

I have a cynergy wicked wing and so far I’ve killed cranes, ducks, dove, turkey, quail and a ton of clays with it and it’s awesome.the gun is 3 years old, gets shot extensively year round and I have zero problems with it. I live on the Texas coast and hunt ducks in the bay. Zero corrosion issues.

On the competition side you should look at Ceasar Guerini's offerings as well as Zoli. In my opinion some of the best shooting guns out there. I shoot a Zoli Z sport and couldnt be happier. They are a little bit pricey, but would love to see you make a video about them!

Thank you for the suggestions. Just filmed a review last week for the Caesar Guerini Summit and spoiler alert, I really like it! The challenge with the more expensive shotguns is that we need the manufacture to send them to us to test out and for some strange reason, getting some companies to do that is a real challenge. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)

@@TargetFocusedLife exactly. Some of these brands I cannot find a dealer to even handle or demo to check out fit.
A lot of $$$ for something you may not shoot well.

@dukebeach1 I got to demo a lot of guns at the National Sporting clays championship in San Antonio. A ton of dealers there that all have demos. As well as Briley has helped me out obtain demo guns and overall helped me find the correct gun for me. If you're ever in the Houston area, give Rhea a call at Briley, she is amazing!

I'm going to have to defer to your knowledge on this one, as I have not shot 3/4 of the guns listed!
I have a 725 pro sporting and it is great. Two things that need done fur it to be great is. Always let all the way up the trigger for the second shot.
Clean the firing pins every season.but I do shot between 10,000 and 15,000 shells a year.
Also bought a "new" old stock Remington premier 28 gauge. I have to say it's one of my most favorite. Feels good to hit clays out farther than most with 3/4 oz. Took it pheasant hunting in south Dakota this year and it handled nicely.
      Keep up the great job!

Personally my favorite for waterfowl is the stoeger condor in 20 gauge. I’m sure these other guns are great but o would never take one that pricey out in the marshes or on the open water. Fields for geese is another thing however. I have good guns like custom built ones but when it comes to hunting most of my guns are under $700. A video on the best at certain price points would be nice.

    • @mrsmartypants_1

The Wingmaster is a GREAT pump. You can’t go wrong with it. Waterfowl, pheasants, doves, clay birds... It points great. Also fail proof. Super easy to strip and clean. Don’t feel bad you can’t afford an O/U. I was in your same boat. But after I got the kids through school, paid off the ex-wife I finally bought an O/U. The Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon he chose here. Great gun. Pretty gun. I was thrilled. The Wingmaster gathered dust. I was hunting pheasant, grouse, dove 95 % of the time. But after a few years I missed the pump. I loved that pump. I got the Wingmaster out and shouldered. Damn it points good I said. Now I mostly hunt with it again lol. I just love it. And having a 3rd shell comes in handy sometimes. Initially because I used the O/U 5 days a week in fall for years I lost the damn instinct to rack back the Wingmaster after my first shot to load the next round. It was maddening lol. I’d be pulling the trigger, followed by “damn”. Once I got that back I was good to go. Ha.

I own a Browning 725 pro sporting. It's a great gun. Shoot sporting clays, 5 stand, Continental, trap, doubles, and meet shoots @ 27 yards with it. Shoots well.
My only complaint is the bluing on the barrels are not very good.very thin bluing overall. where the hand guard snaps in has rubbed through. I own other shot guns worth more like a Kreighoff and a lot less like a at stoeger side by side upland that have much better bluing!

The auto safety on the Beretta 686 is highly annoying. It's also easily disabled. Pull the trigger assembly and remove the rod link that operates it. The only hard part is defeating Beretta's method of getting the trigger plate screw mega tight at the factory.

I'll tell you how to fix it because I fixed mine--the action bar is out of spec, either replace it or shave the width down until the inside wall of the receiver is smooth, especially the left side. I got mine running 100% on target loads, all good. Really dumb issue on Franchi's part and many Affinity 3s I look at in stores have this problem. 😮
