    • @MikeRigel
      @MikeRigel 2 года назад

      I just finished troweling my first coat. It took 9 gallons to cover 378 sq ft and definitely needs the recommended 2nd coat. My experience is that I don't like the look of troweling and will have to spray the 2nd coat for the look I want to achieve. I have 6 gallons left and am unsure of the coverage when spraying. Daich claims SpreadRock will cover max 60 sq ft per gallon per coat and recommends ordering 20-25% more than your coverage area suggests. daichcoatings.com/shop/spreadrock/

    Congratulations Scott, you did good job considering your experience. I've known guys that have been doing for awhile and they still have a hard time spraying it consistently. That is the key, consistency. Next time you spray a deck, I suggest you trowel it LIGHTLY, it will look much better 😉.
    You'll need a helper so you can trowel while they spray. DON'T trowel when too wet. Give it a minute but don't let get dry on you. I use golf shoes to walk on for troweling. Good luck 👍🏼

    • @MikeRigel
      @MikeRigel 2 года назад +1

      You may be able to do everything yourself. Cost will exceed a few hundred to include: materials (crack sealer, self-leveling concrete & prep compound, muriatic acid, primer, SpreadRock, sealer, blue masking tape, paper/plastic for overspray protection); tools (caulking gun, putty knife, deck brush, grinder, concrete grinding wheel, shop vac, dust attachment for grinder, paint roller, squeegee, pool trowel, drill w/paddle mixer, paintbrush, power washer and hose, sprayer, compressor and hose, hopper spray gun); PPE (eye protection, dust mask, ear protection, rubber/latex gloves, leather work gloves, knee pads). Also, you probably won't be satisfied with troweling as it does not achieve the results that you see in Scott's video - plan on a spraying application so you don't spend more on materials from do-overs.

    You did this last fall so wondering how it wintered? I don't know where you are of course. Also, do the chairs being dragged in and out affect the surface? Sure looks great in September. I'll comment again in a couple of years..to see how it held up. That would be a great video. Finished projects always look good..but later not so much. That's a lot of work you went to.

      We are in Texas with had an unusually cold winter below zero. The SpreadRock looks the same now as when I applied it. The chairs to not affect the surface. It will stain if you spill something on it, just like concrete will stain. You have to seal it an wash spills off before they stain.
