Nice work.. When i use to do this i did 3 coates with the finer spray tip spraying a lighter coate each time followed buy a hard brisel brush once dried and seal. Its didn't leave that blotchy paint look and the finished prouct is more grippy to walk on.
Hey Tim great video! We do a similar method, our mixes use acryllic binder for an excellent bond. Theres oxides you can get to change the concrete to any colour. Quite beautiful! It's all troweled on, theres a certain technique you can do with the trowel to give it a textured finished, looks exactly like natural stone! Anyways wanted to share these methods are quite rare but are super underrated!

The amount of time you have to knock down the spray really depends on the material and temperatures. Look into Westcoat, Increte or EliteCrete for materials.

We have jobs that have been down for 20 years and still look good. If your concrete is falling apart though, an overlay isn’t going to do anything other than buy you time before you have to replace it.
It lasts a long time. We have quite a few commercial jobs in town that are >10 years old and still look good. It holds up really well under normal use. I wouldn’t drop a metal dumbbell on it though.

I'm planning to border an existing concrete walkway with railroad ties, and I'm leaning toward this style of overlay because it's so thin (I can hopefully do my ties first and not worry about leaving a space to dress the edges). Look up Increte Antiquing Agent or Butterfield Perma-tique. It might be hard to get a light grout line color though. We always use solvent based clear sealer on stamped concrete.

Would finishing a patio with something like this provide additional anti-cracking protection? I have a 3 slab patio, who slabs are sloping in. I'm researching leveling options. If I poured concrete (2 inches thick at lowest point, and feathered it out till its even, would doing something like this on top reduce the liklihood the poured concrete would crack of crumble at the thinner points? Looks great, would love to do it, but cant pay $2800 to lift 2 10 foot slabs a few inches..

The concrete deck was coated in the past, and I now believe it was this process, after viewing. So my big question: how could I repair an area that has lifted due to the substrate concrete spalling. Thanks! Yes, you can go over exposed aggregate concrete. You would just need to strip the sealer and apply a skim coat to get the surface smooth before doing the process in this video.

There are a lot of brands that all produce a similar product. It’s best to find a brand close to your town. Westcoat, Increte, H&C, Elitecrete and a bunch more.
This is beautiful. We have lots of cracks that we would have to fix first. will this process still work? It is a lot of cement and is curvy. Any suggestions for dealing with the curves? Also, what about using an epoxy as a pool surround?
Thanks! This process doesn’t work very well over cracked concrete. We can patch cracks but there’s always a chance they will come back. I wouldn’t recommend epoxy or polyurea around a pool. A cementious overlay (like in this video) would be more suitable.
Pool decks (and all exterior concrete) never have a vapor barrier under the concrete. Non-breathable coatings (epoxy, polyurea & polyaspartic) would be susceptible to issues from moisture passing through the concrete.
We've had pattern concrete guys come out and all have said they don't do this because their experience is that it only lasts 3-5 years even if sealed yearly. Is this accurate? If not I'd like to hear your rebuttal.

I’m not really sure. We buy materials in bulk, and we already own a lot of equipment needed to do the job. I don’t think just giving you our cost of materials would be much help to you.
Can this be done in cold climates where the only warm months are June thru September. I live in Erie, PA and we have very harsh winters but would like to do this around an in-ground pool.

I used to apply these systems. It’s very labor intensive and very rewarding when complete. Just make sure to prep the surface correctly.

No it’s different from self leveling concrete. It’s just a grout that you can trowel down. It goes on really thin.

I believe this mix is just sand + Portland cement with an acrylic bonding agent/resin.

Can this be done over an existing brick patio and walkway?
No. It doesn’t hold up on top of brick. It really needs to go down on bare concrete.
