Yes it takes longer, but what else do you have to do in the mean time?? However, sometimes it is ok to buy equipment as you need it, and the closer you are to harvest, the closer you are to making money to pay down that loan - so borrow money for a corn header, then use the corn proceeds to pay back the loan! Loans for land might be ok - Land does not lose value, so if you find yourself cash strapped, you can sell the land you just bought for the same amount as you paid for it, and eliminate that part of the loan. When you start going for the more advanced starts - farm manager and start from scratch - buy what you need as you need it, and spend as little as possible to get the job you need done. Small is not bad, it just means each task you're doing will take longer - it's a fine balance between field size, equipment size and tractor capability to make a start. You can worry about more/bigger later when the farm is making money - but until that first harvest is in and sold, you don't know your profit and cannot gage what new stuff/land you can afford to add. If you did it right your starting equipment will last you a long time, but eventually you'll get more land (more land = more income!) and you'll start to feel that your equipment now takes too long to do stuff - that is the time to start upgrading. I suggest buying a seeder that lets you seed directly without cultivating. Saves you a step. Also, buy one that fertilizes while you are seeding. With the precision farming update, usually you don't have to fertilize again after you seed, you just have to lime.
I have been playing FS19 for just over a year, & still enjoy the challenge of playing a map with no mods. Great videos like this helped me greatly when I started playing. 👍👍
Two things I’ve noticed from my short time playing, one which sort of contradicts your #10. 1. When doing contracts that involve harvesting, harvest and sell EVERYTHING before you mark it as finished- especially if you are borrowing equipment. Oftentimes you will find that you still have some extra harvest on the field/in your truck once the contract is marked as complete. If you sell the leftovers, you will get money as if you were selling your own harvest, but as soon as you mark the contract as complete, you will lose access to the field and any borrowed equipment, including whatever was inside them. 2. You can do mowing contracts to see how to complete them. This way you will get everything you need to actually fulfill the contract. But make sure you do it in the proper order. I remember the time I baled the grass before I dried it and then had to cancel the contract.
@@masonwhite5395 Took me a few couple play to actually known about it and save some fertilizer left at my place instead of dragging it from work place to home.
Definitely do contracts! I am fairly new (less than 40 hours) and I do contracts. I drive the equipment to the field and hire a worker to complete the job while I work the home farm. I only do $7k and up contracts, and have many running at once. I can make $100,000 to $250,000 in 1 game day just in contracts.
Awesome tutorial! I would say to start with canola and soybeans because the straw thingy, at first it's kinda hard to pick up, specially bales and all that, unless you have an automatic bale loader you're going to lose a lot of time and get frustrated quickly. I know I did when I first started and I returned to the game during quarantine because I wanted a long one
This video give me the courage to start over this game. Played it for 5minutes when we received it on ps plus. But after little big workshop I’m back in this kind of games. But looks difficult
Great video brother. I’ve been playing for quite a few years but I thought I’d check your video out anyway. See if maybe you covered something I hadn’t learned in my years of playing FS. I truly agree with your grass tip.
A am a veteran from fs11 and i just wondered how what tips other people would give to new players Ok tips i recommend get some mods made by giants at the start
I’m fairly new to farm sim, lost about a week into this game. I started out of the gate watching some coop series plays on RUclips and growing up on a farm figured this game was worth the $29 quickly started stacking in hours. I started as farm manager, but with small equipment, very basic stuff and a few small fields and keep them producing, I got two small tractors and small implements and whatever I’m not using I throw out on bigger paying contracts with a helper in it while I’m cutting and selling all my perimeter grass as silage. So far I’ve had lots of success with it. But the game has very little in the way of help in it. Fortunately RUclips exists.
Never played one of these games and the new one is coming in a couple months so watching some videos like this to see if I wanna get it. I know it's probably different but it's also probably a good start
Thanks for giving these tips, most people just show playing the game and not really giving you tips for the game. Although I have been watching a RUclips channel where this guy playing the game doing some challenge games right from nothing, I enjoy that because he dose give you tips when your started with nothing just the clothing on your back to looking for work making money owning some equipment buying land to buying a farm. keep up the good work maybe you can make videos in that kind of line to show how to start with nothing or small and to grow in to a good running farm
To start with different mods, go filter to the GIANTS ones, just to see how to deal with the mod system. Frequently they just give another thing that is like all the others, however. E.g. "another 3m cultivator" or "another medium tractor that gets 120-180HP and goes 31mph", but for many other mods (non-GIANTS) they bring things that are really so much cheaper than the base version but do the same thing, you're left with a no-brainer which can make your games all seem the same. If you keep using the trailer that is 1/3 the price of the Krone but just as big, the harvester that is 1/2 the price and enough power for a 9m header, etc, then you lose the reason to use anything else: you "lose" so much because a mod just is "too cheap to not use". So most mods you should start with should be of machines you like the look of or ones you know or have seen and want to play with. And GIANTS do a decent job of adding more of those to the mix in their mods.
A big tip for people. If u have seed on the ground after dumping it from your trailer. Buy the elevated belt system and use it to feed seed from the ground into the back of the seeder. Make sure u lower the seeder
On console: prioritise helper friendly fields over anything. Do headlands yourself for some turning space. Also: Don't be afraid to lease and keep the stuff until you can afford them. The one off costs are too high to give it back after one job. Most importantly: Brace your expectations. Even on easy economy it will take many many hours to get the farm going.
good video for newbies, other tips to make cash at the start, sell what's in your silo in new farmer mode. agree watch tutorials on what you want to do. do easy contracts at 1st not bailing.
#1. Use government subsidy mod for a testing map. Test equipments on the testing map before buying it on the main map. There are many things which are not written in the tutorial and need to be figured out practically. Like which trailer can connect to other trailer for road train, which seeder holds fertilizer and plant without cultivating etc.
@@FarmerCop i saw some other videos of your channel and they are great! Especially those "Do they really help?" Series where you test different configurations!
@@FarmerCop Although it’s convenient that there are tutorials on your channel, it’s more efficient and fun to just experience it yourself in-game. I do understand that’s it convenient for your revenue and views but watching video’s instead of just doing it yourself is really just following someone else instead of figuring out your own path, especially in a simulator game.
1 thing i would recommend after u got the basic mechanics down, u know how to grow crops and what the deffrent machinerys are used for and u wanna take that next step. Once u know all this u will quickly find that money can be a roadblock as u likly dosent own any medium/big fields yet, Even if u do your equipment is likly far to small for them. so each harvest dosent get u that big income boost just yet. Now would be the time to place down a horse paddock and fill it up with horses. Horses require oats for food and is 1 of the easy early game crops so that shouldent be a problem at this time. They also need straw for bedding and straw can very easy be optained by leaving a straw swath from your Wheat, Barley and oats harvest. They also need water and any water tank trailer will do the job and can be refilled from a placable watertank or from any body of water on the map. If u sold all of it then straw and horse feed can be bought at the shop aswell. If u have started to use mods this is the time i would recommend (Horse Helper mod) this mod will make sure all your horses are ridden and cleaned each day to increase there value. If u dont wanna use mods yet then u need to ride each horse yourself untill its daily riding time is at 100% roughly 5-8 min/horse and brush it clean after. Now why would we do all of this, When u buy a horse its price is 5000 and with miltiple horses the cost will stack up but if u ride them all once per day to 100% fitness each horse will then sell for 50,000. It takes roughly 8-10 in-game days for them to reach 100% if u ride them each day or if u let horse helper mod do it for u. This is without a doubt the best money making method in the game. Especially if u start out with small fields and wanna take that next step into buying more fields and bigger equipments. A small horse paddock cost 50,000 and can hold 8 horses. with 8 trained horses u can sell them for a cash boost of 400,000 every 8-10 in-game days. That income is unmatched in the early/mid game and gives u the ability to afford that new tractor/equipment u wanna buy.
Thanks for the tips! I played fs14 and 16 mobile games and I know a bit about farming already but this games goes into so much detail with little help, so thanks👍
I started in Ravenport, and just didn't like the New Farmer mode there. I didn't like the placement of the property (not central to anything), and I didn't like the "junky look" to the starting farm. The tutorial was helpful but then ended very quickly, so I was on RUclips soon after. Felsbrun started me out with decent equipment and and nice central location (seconds from the store!!!). Also, I like having just two large fields, it seems much easier to manage two fields when I'm just starting out. Also, the look of my farm and house, just look gorgeous. I could see myself starting Ravenwood as a Farm Manager, where I get to buy my own property (better location" and get to place all of my own buildings (no junk look). Thanks for the tips!!
Loading wagons do come in handy for the “sell things you don’t need” tip because you can use it to collect the straw spewing out the back of your combine and then sell that to make a small amount of money
Good tips. One more thing I would add would be the options menu. Turn fertilize, fuel, and seeds off. Oh one more thing turn off required plowing, lime, and weeds.
Lime is a pretty bad one to have on. There's only one option in the base game to lime with, not many in the mod hub, and it is kinda expensive and takes a long while.
@@KansasFarmer Yeah, it is the bulk. Sure you only need one harvest in three, but you still need to do it a full time each time. For me, though, the biggest downside is that you now have to have paid for a solid fertiliser at ~40 grand, so you'll stick to solid fertiliser from it, and so why would you bother getting any other solid fertiliser? Worse you don't get any contracts to lime. At least with weeds on you get the weeding and profitable sprayer contracts. Sometimes I'll let the weeding go so that they pay me to use herbicide instead. But they never ask for liming. Mind you, they don't ever ask for poplar or, quite possibly worse, sugarcane harvests, so given that it is a huge pain and you won't be doing it often because of that, you will hardly ever use the in-game sugarcane stuff, especially the over-expensive self propelled harvester. A bit of a missed opportunity, IMO.
@@markhackett2302 yep. I wish there were more sugar cain mods for consoles. Otherwise I would produce and harvest sugar cain. I also wish they had put in more root based crops and equipment to go along with that. Maybe we will get more in fs21?
A suggestion about contracts: It took me awhile to catch on to how to do harvest jobs. My advice for new players would be to pay attention to the percentage in the top right corner after you unload the crops to the destination. NEVER deliver more than 75%!!! Any crops after 75% delivered are yours to keep. Also (if you borrow equipment) DO NOT COLLECT THE MONEY until you have secured your cut of the crop either in a trailer you own or a silo because the second you collect on the contract that equipment goes away along with the crops in them. If you have your own equipment then just make sure to stop unloading @75%. Edit* I forgot to mention that grasswork contracts (baling hay or silage) require the full 100% for completion as opposed to crops. These contracts can be more trouble than they're worth at times, pay is okay, but you don't end up with as many bails as you would think.
An additional tip on when to stop handing in product is at 60% complete WITH NO PRODUCE HANDED IN. This is the easiest method to do cotton contracts, since you likely won't have many bales and you have to hand in a whole one at least, and likely won't hand in until it is all complete. If you harvest to "60% complete" or, to make sure you don't have to hand in the saved bale to complete because you only managed 74.667%, slightly over, like 61-63%, unload, hand in the bales so far complete, then keep going. You should then get a "Harvest Complete" before you harvest the last of the field and handing in anything now is your profit.
On the baling contracts, Felsbrunn works REALLY well because there is a lot of grass outside the field and you can mow quite a long way outside the field and it still counts, so you can get 2-3 extra bales easy out of it (~10%). You can also hand in loose product if you have nearly completed (I've frequently had 99% complete and had to hand in another 4000l to complete the possibly 20 litres it was missing.
I would absoluut recommand to buy /rent a loading wagen for the straw. The straw dosn't look like a money maker but it is realy a huge part of the profit! its around the 1/4 to 1/3 of the total profit from harvesting crops
I think mods are a good way to start out. You can find a lot of old, low cost equipment that way. Sure, it will be slow and underpowered, but I feel its good starting equipment. There are really no good old/cheap tractors in the basegame. I think the cheapest tractor is 60-70k.
The main problem i think ppl are getting into with these low power tractors is that u have no room to expand what so ever. They are fine for learning the very basic but that stuff gets learned very fast for the most part and then u are stuck with the 3m equipment for a very long time. For most of the equipment if u wanna expand above 3m it is almost mandatory to have a tractor with a minimum of 200-250hp. There are certanly option betwinn but they tend to be very restrictive. The perfect tractor for beginners imo are the medium tractor Valtra T Series with a base of 210hp that can be increased to 250hp. It lands in this sweat spot where it can still be equiped with narrow tyres and it does have the potential to work with most medium size 6m equipment aswell.
Shiftry between logging and silage, I took right off on no mans land. I started with the same Ferguson tractor, then got an international I found in modhub. That helped a lot. 145hp tractor for 45k in the game.
One of the lesson I learn my self is never buy a massive land on start-up cause it will took ages to get it done with small stuff available. Also don’t loan too big or your income will never pass your loan interest.
If you buy a truck you can hook the green trailer to it and move your product much faster also you can chop down trees load the wood in the trailer as well 1,000 chainsaw one tree about 4,000 dollars that's what I do to earn money when i am waiting for my crops to grow and of course contracts but i don't hire workers i do the work myself and i bought the cultivator that seeds at the same time takes way less time to work my fields
Just a heads up on the contracts. While you’re doing a contract, your workers don’t work and your crops don’t grow. Correct me if I’m wrong, but fairly certain. Just keep that in mind
One thing I'd like to add: Grass work is definitely a big startup cost but it is pretty good work if you get into silage. It definitely isn't for beginners, but when you get more experience it is a great way to make money and also useful to make hay.
Thinking about getting into this game. Long time flight simmer but I need a change. I'm retired, so I have a lot of time on my hands so, why not give it a try? A question: How does one control vehicles in the simulation? Can one use a joystick, or a controller....or both?
just started it with 2 friends. We started with money and nothing else. To be honest it is the best way. We learned ourself what to look out what to do with everything and we worked hard to make it work. If we wanna sweat we would still do it but restarted with the same 1.250.000 eur and gonna do it on our found knowledge
I have a question. Can I and how can I do it from the ranch, if I take the vehicle to buy something, can I return it faster to where it was the first time, and since I'm playing on PS4, which button do I need to click and do I need to go to the main menu .
Actually, weed is the best way to start. Just sell everything and buy a Valtra medium tractor, a nd the rest of the gear to mow grass and transform it into bales, in the case of FS 19 square bales if you don't use mods to get back the auto bale loader for round bales from FS 17. It's grass, you have grass everywhere, you don't even need to own a property to get grass and sell it.
I'm going to be getting FS19 (hopefully the premium edition) later this year, and I'm already researching plenty about it and racking up a ton of classic equipment mods and maps. I'm transitioning from the mobile side of Farming Simulator, but I watch PC side of things a lot. Thank you for this!
Hi there would like some help I downloaded farmer stimulator 19 yesterday and got no idea what I’m doing hoping could give me links to show me step by step what to do ? If possible
also in my game in new farmer it says corn is about 950 and canola is around 1300. Just wondering why would anyone play corn when the prices are so much higher for canola plus you need a special header to harvest it.
Not sure about the truck to be honest but crop prices vary for a reason, though canola is worth more you will get less canola off of a field compared to corn as you will get more corn from the same area if that makes sense. Low value crops have higher yields while high value crops have lower yields
I go to accept the contract, head over the the field on the map and start with the correct equipment, then I get a red message saying I don’t own the land, do I need to purchase that field before I start working?? Pls help
I'm looking to get this game, because the videos have been addicting to watch. I have an Xbox 1 and have been hesitant to buy because all the videos I watch are on the PC. Any word on how the game functions on Xbox? Great video by the way.
If you are new, the only mod i would suggest, is the government owned sign. Just place those around the farm as many as you can and that generates more income, pretty much if you want a sandbox mode.
Tip: lease some equipment Tip: get a seeder that said no cultavating or plowing required when you get the money Tip: make sure your tractor has enough power to use a tool with about 20-30 hp spare before buying the tool
Tip #2 is very important there! Buying/Leasing equipment with multipurpose use is very important! Seeder with no cultivating and adds fertilizer is pretty convenient early game. That is always my first purchase. That way you can save on a fertilizer until 2-3 harvests have passed. I like using the subsoiler as a plow as well. I always get frustrated with the angle on the plow and the subsoilder is square and counts as plowing your fields.

2. You can do mowing contracts to see how to complete them. This way you will get everything you need to actually fulfill the contract. But make sure you do it in the proper order. I remember the time I baled the grass before I dried it and then had to cancel the contract.
Also with fertilizing jobs there is a option to unload the fertilizer from whatever your spreading it with. Just in case you have some leftover
@@masonwhite5395 Yeah. This one took me forever to figure out. being on console, it’s hard to find all the commands to do stuff.
That is a great point. And thank you :)
Thanks for this, I haven’t played this for quite a few years so watching this has helped me relearn stuff again.
Thank you :)
A am a veteran from fs11 and i just wondered how what tips other people would give to new players
Ok tips i recommend get some mods made by giants at the start
Excellent narration, very informative.
There will be a lot of siniliarities :)
Thanks so much for this. Just started playing. 🤠
How are you going
Thanks for giving these tips, most people just show playing the game and not really giving you tips for the game. Although I have been watching a RUclips channel where this guy playing the game doing some challenge games right from nothing, I enjoy that because he dose give you tips when your started with nothing just the clothing on your back to looking for work making money owning some equipment buying land to buying a farm. keep up the good work maybe you can make videos in that kind of line to show how to start with nothing or small and to grow in to a good running farm
Farmer Cop is a legend 🙌
Playing this with my dad. He's really good at this game and I don't want to hold him back so thank you for this video :)
Great point
Can i play that game with a windows 7 core 3 plaese anwser me
@@netahiebert1714 do you want to play on pc or laptop, and which i3?
Great video, thanks! I’m new to FS so this has really helped me.
i’ve been loving the vids bro, keep it up!
Thank you :)
A big tip for people. If u have seed on the ground after dumping it from your trailer. Buy the elevated belt system and use it to feed seed from the ground into the back of the seeder. Make sure u lower the seeder
Hey dude i really liked your video, keep it up! i can really see you in the future as a great youtuber.
Very very true
good video for newbies, other tips to make cash at the start, sell what's in your silo in new farmer mode. agree watch tutorials on what you want to do. do easy contracts at 1st not bailing.
Very good point as well. Baling contracts are very time consiming for little reward
I just made the bailing mistake and I'm regretting it. All the steps are fun but wow the pay is stupid low.
For someone who taught a new player. This is the best way. Start simple and ease in.
Thank you very happy this helped
Thanks alot I started playing a week ago your videos really help alot
Wish I'd had this when I started out, great vid as always Farmer Cop!
Thank you! :)
Very fast talking for non english speakers but understanble and very informative.Thank you.
Thanks buddy! I'll be looking through more of your tutorials, just picked game up on the winter sale
This video is so helpful, i actually know what to do now
I'm watching this so that I can play with my father. Great tips!
Thinking of getting this. Good tips, thanks!
Might aswell wait for fs22🤷🏽♂️
#1. Use government subsidy mod for a testing map. Test equipments on the testing map before buying it on the main map. There are many things which are not written in the tutorial and need to be figured out practically. Like which trailer can connect to other trailer for road train, which seeder holds fertilizer and plant without cultivating etc.
Testing is great but most of what you listed is available in tutorials on my channel :)
@@FarmerCop i saw some other videos of your channel and they are great! Especially those "Do they really help?" Series where you test different configurations!
I do it all the time
@@FarmerCop Although it’s convenient that there are tutorials on your channel, it’s more efficient and fun to just experience it yourself in-game. I do understand that’s it convenient for your revenue and views but watching video’s instead of just doing it yourself is really just following someone else instead of figuring out your own path, especially in a simulator game.
Love ur vids, also finally ill be able to know how to start my farm :D
"struggling and struggling to make it back" well.. let me tell ya 🤣🤣. thats the most realistic part of the game 😂🤣🤣💀
Thanks for advice I’ll have look at more of ur tutorials👍
That is a great point about horses, they are a relatively low cost way to make good money
That is a very valid point, I do prefer Felsbrun to Ravenport as well. Thank you for that. And thank you glad you enjoyed the video :)
Awesome, perfect timing for me
This is fantastic! Thanks for the help and tips, about to start one.
Loading wagons do come in handy for the “sell things you don’t need” tip because you can use it to collect the straw spewing out the back of your combine and then sell that to make a small amount of money
Hi do you play on ps4? If so Im looking for new people to play with
@@hazardouskiller4384 I don’t, sorry
Good tips. One more thing I would add would be the options menu. Turn fertilize, fuel, and seeds off. Oh one more thing turn off required plowing, lime, and weeds.
That is a great point as well if you are new to the game
Lime is a pretty bad one to have on. There's only one option in the base game to lime with, not many in the mod hub, and it is kinda expensive and takes a long while.
@@markhackett2302 and you go through it quickly too
@@KansasFarmer Yeah, it is the bulk.
Maybe we will get more in fs21?
finally a helpful farming sim video thank you
A suggestion about contracts: It took me awhile to catch on to how to do harvest jobs.
That is a very good point when doing harvest contracts
That is a very valid point, you can get some cheap options
I didn't know could sell decorations. Awesome way to clean and fast cash. But how to get rid of old fencing, card, and other garbage still there?
This was done really well, thanks
That is NOT the case on FS19 or FS22, it was for FS17
@@FarmerCop ahhh, I didn’t know that! I thought it was for 19 as well. Good to know!
I'm concerned how much I love this damn game..
It happens hahaha
Im too lazy to farm so I just get money making mods LOL
One thing I'd like to add: Grass work is definitely a big startup cost but it is pretty good work if you get into silage. It definitely isn't for beginners, but when you get more experience it is a great way to make money and also useful to make hay.
Thinking about getting into this game. Long time flight simmer but I need a change. I'm retired, so I have a lot of time on my hands so, why not give it a try?
A question: How does one control vehicles in the simulation? Can one use a joystick, or a controller....or both?
You can use a keyboard and mouse or you can buy a wheel, joystick, ect and make it more realistic if you want :)
I use a combination of steering wheel and keyboard/mouse. The game is pretty versatile to what inputs it accepts.
Always start in farm manager, you start with 1,250,000 and can just change to settings
just started it with 2 friends. We started with money and nothing else. To be honest it is the best way. We learned ourself what to look out what to do with everything and we worked hard to make it work. If we wanna sweat we would still do it but restarted with the same 1.250.000 eur and gonna do it on our found knowledge
Very helpful mate thanks
Tutorial stopped telling me what to do after two things so I have no idea what I'm doing. Yay.
When I need to free up space I just think about what mods I don’t use
I have a question. Can I and how can I do it from the ranch, if I take the vehicle to buy something, can I return it faster to where it was the first time, and since I'm playing on PS4, which button do I need to click and do I need to go to the main menu .
As someone who doesn't usually play games and has never played FS, I had no idea what you were talking about on tip 3. I was complete lost!
In FS19 you have to own the land to mow the grass on it so at the very least you would have to buy some land
This helps a lot thanks
Very helpful. Cheers 👍🏻
Dunno whether to get this or pre order farming sim 22

So I bought a pickup truck yesterday but it is super hard to control. Any tips? Thank you!!
also in my game in new farmer it says corn is about 950 and canola is around 1300.
@@FarmerCop thanks! you do great videos. So I have to do some math to figure the actual value lmao?

It should work fine, that only comes up if you are on the wrong field or using the wrong equipment
Is there a money cheat box mod like there was on farming sim 17?
Yes its part of the easy development commands
I'm looking to get this game, because the videos have been addicting to watch. I have an Xbox 1 and have been hesitant to buy because all the videos I watch are on the PC. Any word on how the game functions on Xbox? Great video by the way.
Thank you! And i have heard good things in general with console gamers, especially if that is what you like and are used to
If you are new, the only mod i would suggest, is the government owned sign. Just place those around the farm as many as you can and that generates more income, pretty much if you want a sandbox mode.
You can add max money into your account with one click using easy dev tools on PC
