  • Our favorite RV bathroom upgrade! In this video I show how to easily remove an existing sliding glass RV shower door and track and install a new lightweight, self-cleaning retractable shower door. I also cover why we chose the RecPro door over the Nautilus version by Stoett.

I'd been wanting to replacing the heavy & hard to clean glass shower door in our RV with a lightweight, self-cleaning retractable door for a while now, but I didn't really prefer the look of the Nautilus version by Stoett. Their frosted clear screens with white lines didn’t match our interior, and in all honesty, it looked to me like something from my grandparents’ 1970s bathroom.
But I was browsing around on RecPro.com one day when I randomly discovered they offer their own retractable shower door. And one of the color options is black. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it. The ultimate RV bathroom upgrade.
I'd like to thank RecPro for providing their shower door free of charge in exchange for my honest feedback on their product!

Question - if you had it to do over again, would you consider putting the retractable roll-up section on the right side, tucked behind the sink since the sink partially blocks the entrance to the shower. We have the same 3 panel door in our G.D. and typically slide the doors to the right tucked behind the sink when entering the shower towards the left side. Seeing the vertical bracket to clip the door to when closed is much thinner than the other side with the role, I seemed to think putting the roll on the other side would be better, but maybe there is a reason why you had to put the roll on the left or that they are made to only roll one direction (not symetrical)? Thanks!

Hey Tom. I think it’s purely personal preference, but we like opening the door to the left. When we had the glass doors, we opened them to the left as well. The door can be installed either way, so if you wanted to open to the right, that would be totally fine!

@@AroundTheSunWeGo Great - thank you for responding that it can be mounted to either side! LOL... my wife just said "of course they enter on the right side and used to slide the doors to the left. Don't you always get in on the end of the shower away from the water and facuets?", so I didn't know my own wife gets in on that side as she is petrified of getting hit by any water that is the slight bit cold. Isn't life interesting that we all don't think the same way. Now if we install this, we will have a domestic dispute of which side it should roll into... maybe we better keep the doors that can go either way until we settle this. 🙂

@@tombrizzi8904 I didn’t think about the water spray, but now that you mention it, that might be why I naturally enter on the right. Haha! Good luck deciding on the install! 😂
