4:54 .My dad is in the maroon shirt, in the Asleep at the Wheel hat. He's no longer with us, cancer took him almost 13 years ago. I saw this for the first time today. It's really great to see him happy .. He loved Steve Earle and introduced me to him. I played a Steve Earle song (goodbye is all we have left to say) at his funeral as a memorial. I miss you dad. Seeing this today has really brightened my day. Thank you for posting this.
Sorry for your loss.... Now steve is going thru a painful loss himself. We will appreciate today love music it will bring us ✌ peace. Steve is a good man and i am Partial because he is my cousin. It may not seem important but family is hard to come by. Ive lost soooo many family member that the past few years that even a cousin i havnt gotton to know means alot. Steve has a son Ian and so do i. We have things in common. Family for the most part is precious. His words speak so clearly and i agree with his beliefs. I believe we all can agree.... Yes joan Biaz. Not to mention steve earle is (the way i see it) is a very thoughtful considerate man. I didnt get to know him but thru his music i feel close to him. I hope steve can understand that. When i say he is a good man it comes from my ❤. Happy hollidays to all... Lets enjoy life today this very moment for we do not know what tomarrow will bring us or the next few minutes for that matter. My mother went to get a cheese burger broke her neck in a car axccident at 17. Not to bring up bad news lets be happy with every moment and love each other. 🌲🐿🌲🐿🌲🐿🌲 spread love and laughter....peace.
He's controversial politically and maybe not what some expect or want him to be like. A socialist pro choice married about seven times and this anti war rhetoric too people probably just wanted him to be yer average southern good ol' boy...

@annalisavajda252 oh yes, Steve isn't your average good ole boy, but there's room for all of us on the crazy tree lol. Politically, my son and I are almost polar opposites. He and I can agree on most things Steve.
I grew up listening to Steve Earle and now I enjoy his son's work too. As far as politics and social issues we have polar oposite views and ideas. But it really doesn't matter one bit. Good music is good music.
I agree, polor opposites politically but the man has forgotten more talent than most performers ever had to begin with. Case in point, bruce no talent springsteen
Like that you use "journey" rather than life. Been a beautiful one as I travel mine. The Hard-core Trubador has help along the way as Dylan and many others. Even the shity days are ok cause, I don't let'em be all day long.
Mine too. Its really touched my heart... My son isnt expected to live much longer. I wake up everyday not knowing is this the day? Family is so very important and special to me.... Us earls are very strong. God bless to steve and like i said this family is strong. Im an earl as well yes we are cousins and i just want him to know he has family praying for him.... I just keep praying that i dont hav to lose my son. Im suposed to go before my children. My sons music keeps me alive. My amily no matter wat others may say or think i love steve even tho i didnt get to know him. My prayers hav been with this family. Peace steve. You got this i just hope im strong like you wen that horrible phone call comes that its time to put ian in his grave. The thot crushes me.... God Bless you much love to you
Love his music. First tape I owned was Guitar Town. Was really hoping to learn more about his early years and not his politics, although I respect him for standing for what he believes.
And an electric guitar. Justin had to have hated that shit lol Man, I miss him so much. I wish I coulda seen the two of them play together again but Justin came well into his own and wrote music Steve never could have imagined.
@@k.g.alatore355 wrote some stuff better than some of his father's work I think and I've seen Steve 10 times since 88. Mamas eyes, who am I to say, learning to cry, Rogers park, wandering. As good as a lot of his Dads stuff in my eyes.

Well;;; no. I guess Steve Earle actually wrote the Soundtrack to my life. Not Townes . From cocaine and prison to corn bread and church. Love you Steve. Keep on keeping on..
Well aside from the obvious country influences, this part of Steves musical journey sounds a bit like the Who (guitar). The back-up band reminds me of Crazy Horse as well. Cool folk country rock here rolled up wth politics.
Funny watching this now, for me, as someone who was more inline with his politics back when this movie was filmed, you see the hypocrisy of where the left has gone to. Ex... He believes as an artist that you should never censor yourself in fear of offending someone. Now if you offend you are cancelled by the left. He states that it is never unpatriotic to question any fucking thing in a democracy. Now the left shuts you up and finds you a criminal if you question..uh 2020 election integrity, COVID and the vax. Ukraine funding etc... his stance on why he is against the death penalty is actually what swayed me from pro choice to pro life. Which was, he is against killing and since the govt represents him he is against govt killing. Well if that's true then there is no way someone could be in any way pro abortion. Those are just a few ex. Love the music. As a singer songwriter myself he influenced me greatly. Been flowing Steve since guitar town. Saw him plenty back in the early 2000s.
great songwriter and then becomes a bloated junkie. Wakes up hungover and sees his boy with a pistol, Steve Earle's pistol so he decides we all should lose that protected Right! Then he starts working to get some cat off death row. I think "Steve Earle you can do better things for people who have not ruined their lives yet and could use some help."
Why do you think violent, hate-filled communists want to take away your rights to free speech and self protection? Take a wild guess...or look at North Korea.
this did'nt repersent his music his style or the music that made him!!!! i don't know what this is???? but it sucks!!! if u just tuned in to him with video , u would'nt tune him in anymore!!!! newcomers to S.E. check u out some GUITAR TOWN, hillbilly highway !!!! u will then see and hear the genuis of S.E.
As a German I was always wondering why so many Americans love his music though they hate his politics. Anyway, since I heard Loretta Lynn supports Donald Trump , your statement about Steve could be mine about her. By the way, I love your Martin guitars and the way you perform with your son. Thats where real music comes from. Family and friends.
As a Canadian, it's a relief to me that his music great and his politics are and have always been in line with my life.. I literally grew up with him time-wise.. he is but one month older than I am and I've been tracking his trials and successes and believe his life story informs his empathy.
@@pktdbgnzwl sheesh you sure get easily offended by my opinion. Well when you run down the very system you made your wealth from, that’s hypocrisy, sorry but true. Earl isn’t the only singer song writer to come out of the late 60s early 70s who do that very thing. Neil Young, Graham Nash, David Crosby, Joan Baez, Joanie Mitchell, just to name a few. I love their music but when they start giving a finger to capitalism and talking socialist shit it’s a bit hypocritical as they all used the capitalist system to make their wealth, buddy they sure didn’t turn down any chance to rake in those green backs! It’s my opinion just like you expressed your opinion, and always remember, opinions are like assholes, everybody has one:)
Is it just a coincidence that all folk on the right paint everything in such black and white terms? Or is it that they just can't be fucking bothered to think about anything?
Well behaved people rarely change things. We need more troublemakers these days. As for your comment about blacks, well, I won't call you a racist, but if the shoe fits...
I never go to a music concert and want to hear somone's political views. I wish they would shut up and play the songs - we are all tired of making everything made into politics.
Well, you might as well just go ahead and give up on Steve. He's a political animal. I appreciate artists that totally keep their views out of the music, like the Grateful Dead. But Steve's views are correct in my opinion. If you like the orange orangutan, sorry about your luck. Enjoy the kid rock concert

That's a great, yet sad story... Your father had fine taste in music, as i'm sure you know.

Such a great TRUE American! Steve has said everything so many of us were chicken shit to say. Thank you, Steve!
Steve Earle molded me with his music 🎶 I’m 46 now! Had me since I was 12 With Guitar Town!
Thank you, Steve. You’re a stand up guy and you’re really creative.
Grew up with Steves music...this is awesome.
Amazing still to this day that he and I see eye to eye on so many subjects. Genius in his own right. I could listen to" Earleology" all day😉💛🎸🎶🎵🎸
OMG Justin Towns Earle was so young tears leakin"out my eye balls

Thanks for the upload. Have this on DVD. Pretty cool.
Steve Earle is my favorite artist.... I have been a fan since : EXIT O 1987

I'm from India. I just love his music. Superb musician
I have this movie, I love it, I watch it over and over❤😂
Great to see a full Live version of The Mountain with The Bluegrass Dukes including Darrell Scott and Tim O'Brien @ 1:04:46 Superb!
Great film! Steve Earle is an treasure to humanity! F'n Period! (Maybe Exclamation ❗❗❗❗❗)😊
Lynn Rose, great to see you near the bus!
Always loved him!!!
thanks for the upload.
God bless (blessed) Steve Earle

Shit, is that Justin Townes Earle playing along with his dad? No way I'm not going to cry watching this.
I gave up at 26.15 due to the ads. Would have loved to view the rest.
Use an ad blocker
It’s odd to see Justin up there with the band and actually using a pick
And an electric guitar. Justin had to have hated that shit lol

Yes he is
Sadly, no longer with us🙏
RIP young man.
Tell it like it is Steve. Love you wamh

True he has his own style cool dude got his early songs
New respect for this talented man.....
When he writes about the human condition he's inspired. When he delves into politics he's an asshat. Here's to the observer of the human condition.

It's Christmastime in Washington
The Democrats rehearsed
Gettin' into gear for four more years
Things not gettin' worse
Republicans drink whiskey neat
And thanked their lucky stars
They said, "He cannot seek another term
They'll be no more FDRs"
I sat home in Tennessee
Just staring at the screen
With an uneasy feeling in my chest
I'm wonderin' what it means
So come back Woody Guthrie
Come back to us now
Tear your eyes from paradise
And rise again somehow
If you run into Jesus
Maybe he can help you out
Come back Woody Guthrie to us now
I followed in your footsteps once
Back in my travelin' days
Somewhere I failed to find your trail
Now I'm stumblin' through the haze
But there's killers on the highway now
And a man can't get around
So I sold my soul for wheels that roll
Now I'm stuck here in this town
Come back Woody Guthrie
Come back to us now
Tear your eyes from paradise
And rise again somehow
If you run into Jesus
Maybe he can help us out
Come back Woody Guthrie to us now
There's foxes in the hen house
Cows out in the corn
The unions have been busted
Their proud red banners torn
To listen to the radio
You'd think that all was well
But you and me and Cisco know
It's going straight to hell
So come back, Emma Goldman
Rise up, old Joe Hill
The barracades are goin' up
They cannot break our will
Come back to us, Malcolm X
And Martin Luther King
We're marching into Selma
As the bells of freedom ring
So come back Woody Guthrie
Come back to us now
Tear your eyes from paradise
And rise again somehow

Thanks, that is good poetry, and it makes it easier for me to show my old Mama in a form she can get.

Well Done
